First time coming to this local authentic Mexican eatery after hearing about it on Diners, Drive ins, and Dives. My friends also said it is a place to try out. I took their word and got the California Steak burrito while my friend got two seperate tacos. The food was delicious. However I couldn’t give it a full five stars because the restaurant was very unorganized and the food seems overpriced for the amount given.

After watching triple d for the 3rd time and seeing this place, I figured it was time to visit the new location. The shop has moved out of the gas station and across the street. You order at the front and then sit down(place has ample seating). We ordered what Guy ordered on the show… tacos al pastor, huaraches, sopes and to drink, horchata and then one of the teas they brew. We opted to dine in and they delivered the drinks in these old(slightly worn) looking mugs. Not a fan because the mugs were so porous, I wonder about the ease of getting them completely clean. Next time we come I would ask for it in a to-go cup. The entire space was a bit dirty as well… sticky tables, dirty floors. Made me want to use plastic silverware. Food was ok, lacked pizzazz though. The best item out of what we ordered was the sopes(and it was lacking flavor). Its just tortilla like base, beans, lettuce, cheese, pizza style. Tacos al pastor was meh, I’ve had way better… Saw what other people ordered and it looked good. I feel like since they have moved across the street and mass produce the items now, the quality has decreased. Pretty sad, cause this is definitely authentic food, I so wanted the experience and the food to be amazing!

For any business, sometimes growth is great and other times you grow & compromise many things that made you great. For R&R, the latter is the case. They moved to some snazzy new digs — mere steps away from the old gas station, which is great — and they’re officially no longer«a dive.» There are now a variety tables & lots of counter help. Still today — my food was super lack luster. First, food wasn’t even warm. It was straight up cold. Not good especially when the meats are all kinda greasy & the cheese isn’t melted. Everything seems to be pre-made. The awesome Al Pastor meat BBQ contraption is gone :(that alone brought me in time & again. The pork meat was also a bit grisly & unappetizing. Coke machine was out of ice for over an hour. Several folks asked the counter folk for ice but the machine wasn’t refilled. Ice tea was hot. Maybe they’d just brewed it. Still they’re trying to sell Ice Tea & it’s labeled as such & should be fixed. Tables weren’t cleared for over 20 mins even though there were clearly enough folks to do that efficiently. Bathroom was not clean. Too bad cause décor could have been nice. A/C is a prob here too. It’s super muggy & it doesn’t smell great in the dining room. Maybe it’s the open kitchen concept? Overall, I’m just bummed. I loved the old R&R. I would have overlooked a lot if the food was great today but I had a hard time even eating! I hope they go back to making great food.

Bad service and inconsistent food quality. They completely forgot about my order or gave it to someone else or something. They also completely messed up the order for the people at the table next to us and they had to send the food back 3 times. They don’t clean the tables so even though it’s a huge place there is limited seating. The ice machine ran out of ice. The lady taking orders at the front is multi tasking(she was on the phone when I was ordering) which is probably why the orders are all getting messed up. I’ve been here multiple times and sometimes the tacos are super super greasy and just thrown together, and sometimes they are very delicious.

Been coming here for a couple years now, they just moved next door to a former deli location so they’ve moved out of their gas station roots(sigh…good for them though!). New location has seating for around 100 people… that’s about a 20 times increase over the old gas station location! Very good taqueria, my complaints are few but mainly the scratch your head frustrating type like trying to order a salad, in this case a taco salad and asking for no taco shell. Every time there’s a look of confusion, a statement about not being sure they can do that, then usually asking a few employees if its possible to not put the shell on the salad. Sure I could just order it as is and throw it away, but I figure i could save them the trouble, who wants to see food waste anyway? Overall, great spot for fast casual Mexican whether is tacos(chorizo, grilled fish, lengua and al pastor being my favorite), tortas or even the rare burrito.

This place employs the WORST people. For starters the kids taking orders at the counter barely speak English. So if you have questions about the menu– forget it! Your better off talking to the wall. They look at you and grin like idiots. Plus they have attitudes. That’s probably why all the meals come out wrong or are given to the wrong person. Last night when I came in they were even laughing at a customer as he was picking up an order. Why? Because he had glasses and was skinny. Of course they were speaking Spanish but I understood exactly what they were saying and it was just ugly and rude. So why on gods green earth do I come here? Because I live about 30 seconds away and the food can be good. Hence my two stars. But I think ive had it after last nights experience. The owner of r&r should be absolutely ashamed of himself for employing such obnoxious little greaseballs. Why the hell would you have people who don’t speak English. Waiting on customers!!! The guy built a pretty cool looking space and yes the food is decent but only when he’s in there to monitor things. Regardless the place is just not that clean. You can see the kitchen so it’s not like I’m making this up. The dining area is always a wreck and the last time I came here our fajitas were inedibly burnt. Absolutely abhorrent. So with that I say farewell to r&r. Even though the food is decent — at times — I can’t support an establishment whose employees poke fun at customers, throw ice at each other and have ZERO customer service skills. It’s such a pity too because this place could be soooooo much better.

I went there for the first time and the food was amazing! The food is definitely a 5 star! If you are looking for an authentic Mexican food this is the place to go! However I had to give a 4 star because of the location and how crowded it was when I first went in because you have to order front of the cashier which is right front of the door. The place was not very well air conditioned so I felt very hot and sticky when I left. But I would definitely go back for the food any day!

I’ve come here numerous times now and have had a great experience every time! From the preparation, looks, tastes and variety of food, to the fast and friendly service, I’ve quickly made this my go to spot any time I’m around Jessup. If you’re in town… STOPHERE! And try everything!

Still great burritos! But… So far not satisfied with the new location. It appears that they’ve brought in some new staff members that are lacking experience. Cash Register transactions are cumbersome and slow. Meals have inconsistent quality. Also, they really need to make sure they have a bilingual person taking the phone orders. I love how this place has authentic mexican food but sometimes I call in to place an order and the cashier doesn’t speak a word of English. I try to be patient but often my order gets messed up in the transaction. We have a bilingual community, this needs to be respected both ways. New location still needs some polishing around the edges but still solid none the less.

The restaurant may be surrounded by some sketchy looking stores but it’s pretty nice on the inside. Personally, I believe the food is a little pricey for the portion amount. But I appreciate the freshness and authenticity of the food. I enjoyed the carne asada dinner tacos but the cheeses on my huarache was a bit too much. The meat on both my orders were cooked well and filled with flavor! Also, the waitress messed up our orders a few times(forgot the side of beans or rice, even gave our order to the wrong person and to retrieve it back) but she was really friendly and apologized for her mistakes.

The first time I tried it, I went there everyday for 2 weeks! Now, the food is horrible if the Owner isn’t there watching how the food is prepared! I will only eat there when I know the owner will be there.

Don’t go to this place!!! I ordered the enchiladas and they were disgusting, they were dry and had no flavor at all, the red sauce tasted like tomato paste as opposed to Mexican red sauce. We were missing my husband’s item from our order, we asked 4 times and every time the staff said they were going to put the order in right away, which they didn’t, so after 45 minutes we asked for our money back and left. The manager didn’t even apologize and didn’t care that we left without the food. My husband was so hungry we had to stop at another place to get him food. We won’t ever go back

I beat the lunch rush by 10 minutes. The menu was all over the place, so I just asked the cashier to tell me the most ordered menu items. She said chicken or steak tacos. I ordered three steak tacos and bought a bottled drink. Service was fast. They gave me a number. I took a seat. Within five minutes, somebody brought my tacos out. Presentation was okay. Portion size of tacos was larger than expected, but they gave me like an ounce of salsa for all three tacos. I would’ve requested more, but then the lunch swarm arrived. The salsa was good, but I’ve had better. It was enough for one taco. The tacos were simple… meat, onions, cilantro. I prefer hard tacos, but they don’t serve hard tacos. I expected more flavor. The meat was dry and chewy. The meat is the most important part. I was disappointed.

We’ve been here four times now, twice at their old gas station location across the parking lot and now twice at their new location. We get the sense this spot is still riding off the hype of Guy Fieri’s visit that occurred a few years back. The best description for their food is: highly inconsistent. If you order to-go, please check your order before you exit because it’s very likely they’ve forgotten something. The two stars are solely for their awesome new location and sopes. We’ve searched high and low for sopes in Maryland, without success. This is the sole reason we continue to return. We’d give them a 0.5 star for their fresh chips and guac, but this is another area of inconsistency for them. At $ 4.49 for this side menu option, you’d think they’d have it down pat. What we’ve learned is contingent upon who the chef is, sometimes you get freshly fried tortilla chips(Yummy thumbs up!) and sometimes you get a mix of store-bought red, purple, and regular tortilla chips. Once you’ve had their freshly fried chips, it’s hard to downgrade back to store-bought chips at the same cost. On three occasions, they’ve forgotten 1) to give us the side of guac we paid for with our«chips and guac $ 4.49» side order 2) to put sour cream and avocado on our sopes as stated on the menu. They’ve had to later put these ingredients in additional styrofoam containers so we could roll out 3) that the carne asada platter comes with pico de gallo. During our last visit, they completely forgot two of our tacos altogether. While these aren’t huge deals, it becomes annoying after the third time. Once you’ve got your mouth set for avocado or guacamole, it sucks when you’ve paid for it and it’s not in the bag. Especially since it’s not cheap. Again, we continue to patronize this place because they offer sopes that I grew up eating and loving in California. Sometimes the meat is dry and minimal and sometimes they give us a heap of plentiful meat. The sopes used to be $ 3.99 plus $.99 for your choice of meat. Since they moved, they’re now $ 6 plus $ 1 for meat. It’d be nice to always walk out with the sour cream and avocados on top, especially with the inflated new price. The customer service is meh and nothing to write home about. Sometimes you get someone kind, but more often than not they’re lackluster, rushed, and rude. Either way, they don’t care much about customer service here, so it’s not worth fretting about. I often think it’s the language barrier, but we just shrug it off and consider it a win if they merely prepare our food accurately. Tonight, they forgot to include a taco in the order of couple in front of us. It further validated they can’t be trusted with order accuracy. There appears to be a lot of chaos going on in the kitchen, to include horse-play; but I’m not their boss so whatever. Overall, we want to love and support this place but they just keep missing the mark. Maybe one day they’ll operate like a well-oiled machine, but until then, they are two stars or less. With the shortage of good Mexican food in Maryland, this place could easily fill the niche if they stepped their game up. I’m not sure they care to and will just continue riding the Food Network Guy Fieri hype wave.

They have a new sit down location, which is actually quite appreciated since I didn’t like the old place – I felt weird waiting in a gas station area for food. Any weird person could come up and harass you. The prices appear to be mostly the same, food is just as good as I recall, with a wide selection of offerings, and they are able to accommodate large groups in what looked like a private area. I heard their old location is still serving Mexican food but it’s more of a fusion American-Mexican taste? The waitresses are still getting used to serving large numbers of people, so be patient. They are very nice though.

OOHHMYSWEETVIRGINOFGUADAULPE! Thank you for answering my prayers! I’ve finally found a real Mexican restaurant in Maryland. I was so excited when I got to R&R Taqueria. Their menu was legit! It was like if they got all their recipes out from my grandmother’s cook book. They have an open kitchen right at the entrance, and I could see how they were preparing the food, and it was exactly how I dreamed off! BUT the customer service… ooohhh myyyy… I’ve never in a thousand years have ever had such a horrible experience. From the moment I walked in and placed my order, to my last minute at the restaurant when I asked for a to go cup for my agua. It was just SO ridiculous, how EVERYTHING could go wrong… and don’t even think the place was packed and they were very busy. It was just like they didn’t care about their customers… they know they have a great product, because the food was AMAZING, but my time there was SO bad, that I don’t even feel like going back. It would take me forever to write my whole experience, and everything that went bad, but I am going to share one, that I thought it was ridiculous. So by the end of the night, one of the guys who works at R&R comes up to my table and asks me if I need something else, and in my mind I’m like«Oh FINALLY… someone who cares».and I asked him for a to-go cup for my Agua de Jamaica, and he said yes, and took my water…5 minutes passed by, and the guy wasn’t back, and I was ready to go… so then, I look outside through the window next to my table, and the SAMEGUY was outside the restaurant, taking a cigarette break and chatting with other person! INMYFACE!!! How hard is to bring back a cup of water… it took him 15MINUTES and he didn’t even apologized, he just didn’t gave a _______. Dear, R&R Taqueria your food is AMAZING… please, train your staff.

NEWLOCATION:(7840 Washington Blvd) at the shopping center right next to the original location inside the Shell gas station. The place is definitely much more spacious than inside the gas station. Plenty of parking. There is even a nice décor/ambiance inside. Rustic style in décor– natural wood, barn doors, mirrors, iron gate doors, leather cushioned chairs, cheese grater light fixtures, and high and low seating. Their menu is and lots of food to choose from. The kitchen is open like before. We decided to eat in; we were given a number to take with us to our seat. We sat in the back where it could be a private room that seats about 20 people. It can be enclosed by barn doors. They had cute décor on a shelf and logs of wood in the partition to the other seating area. We ordered chips and guacamole, lamb soup, carne asada platter, and a beef tongue torta. Everything was delicious! However, they forgot my lamb soup. My husband had to ask for it and by the time the waitress came back to ask what size and what kind of soup we were missing I was done with my entrée and figured they should have upgraded my soup! That is why I didn’t give them 5 stars. I don’t think they were able to move the Guy Fieri tag(from the Diners Drive-ins and Dives on Food Network episode). I think it would have been cool if they could have. Or maybe took a photo of it and framed it and displayed it at the new location. I’m not sure if they still own/rent inside the gas station. This place does have good food if you haven’t tried them out. The lamb soup and tacos are my favorite. I tend to always order the lamb soup every time. The carne asada was just okay for me(nothing fancy with the meat– it was very thin) and my husband enjoyed his torta.

Some good, some bad. I really want to love this place. The setup is a dive in the best sense of the word. The menu is authentic Mexican. I’ve had three meals: 1– carne asada burrito. My least favorite. The meat was chewy. I know better than to order carne asada at a new place. My bad. Would try another burrito with different meat. 2– chicken enchiladas with mole. Awesome mole sauce. Good beans and rice in the platter. The chicken in the enchiladas was not good. I’m not sure if this was by design, but the chicken was so dry that it had a crunchiness in half the bites. Again might be great with different meat. 3– chicken quesadilla. Awesomely glutinous. Lots of cheese. Chicken cutlets were tender. A complete opposite of the other meats I’ve had there.

Food so good make you wanna slap yo momma. I actually brought my mother to this location. She took a bite once we got in the car, and she slapped herself. To me mexican food has become such and americanized thing that the only thing I find it harder to appreciate more is chinese food. So initially when I saw this restaurant on Triple D(as i’m sure a lot of you did), I was intrigued. However it wouldn’t be until after I actually tried the food that I would understand exactly what I was dealing with. If you’ve ever seen a episode of Triple D, then you know how Guy Fieri acts every time he takes a bite of food at the new spot. You get about 30 seconds of sound effects(mmmmm, mmmhmm, oh, ahhh!, yes, mmmmph!, man!, oh, yeah!, yes, whoa, mhmmm, mmmmmph) before he actually tells you what he thinks about the food which is usually a positive critque on what he has tasted. It is in those 30 seconds where you’re like DAMMMMMMNNN, that food must be THEBOOOMB! Well thats exactly when my innrer skeptic creeped up, and was like Naaaah, it cant be as good as advertised. All I can say is that it is a good thing that I am not a betting man. Because my lady was thoroughly impressed with this restaurant when we saw that show, and she made it know that we(yes. we!) would be eating at this place very soon. It is not often that I eat mexican food anymore, and I certainly would’ve never considered a gas station as the type of place I would ever consider eating Mexican ever, but since my first visit to this location that has all changed. The interior is small, and really not much to speak on. It’s basically a pathway to the counter with a few high bar stool with a small table ledge along the wall. The staff is friendly, but some times they get a good crowd of people in the small area of there store so while they are friendly, don’t expect to be cracking jokes and having long conversations about their episode on Triple D. The food here is awesome. I have been a few times, and this is the only place that can get me excited about Mexican food. They make other places look like they’re just serving beans on a tortilla. With the prices being so low, I typically try to grab a few different things each visit. Just so I don’t get stuck eating the things i’m used to, but my personal favorite here are the huaraches with beef tongue. Please do not sleep on the Lengua! In a perfect world this place will one day leave it’s shell location, and become more of a dine in establishment. Easily one of my favorite mexican spots around these parts. Great job!

You are definitely in a gas station. There is a small counter space for parties of one or two. I got there just before a line formed. It was really starting to get busy on a Friday evening. I simply told the girl to give me what Guy(from DDD) had. She had no idea what I was talking about. So I pointed at the picture on the wall… still nothing. So, through my terrible Spanish, I found a way to order what Guy had. It was AWESOME! I ordered the Al Pastor Huaraches. I cannot explain just how good this was. Bro. Ba-roe. The tortilla with the refried beans mixed in provides an incredible texture for the base of this dish. It was firm, but you could still cut it with a fork. The cheese… sour cream… avocado all mouth watering touches… quite possibly from heaven. Overall, I would give more stars if I could. This place is every bit as good as the Mexican food you get in Cali. Speaking of which, I will be back to try the California burrito. Actually I’ll be back to try everything.
