On our way back from a NYE party on New Year’s Day my husband and I decided to make a pit stop at Free State Discount Liquors to restock the essentials. The prices were pretty reasonable and the selection was decent. What stood out to me the most was the service. My wine of the moment is the Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc. I had some trouble finding it but was informed that the brand had recently done a relabeling and was led over to the correct place. I mentioned that I really enjoy the New Zealand and Australian wines and she made the recommendation of Oyster Bay over the Kim Crawford. While I have yet to crack into the bottle, I thought it was nice of her recommend a less expensive wine. That would have been a really easy opportunity to up-sell me. At the register, we continued our conversation about New Zealand Sauvignons with the man working the counter. He gave us some quick but thorough historical about the sauvignon revolution. All of this information was new to both me and my husband and very interesting. I wish I was a local to this store as I would love to get some more insights on various wines.
