Excellent subs! We had chicken salad and Italian. fresh and tasty and fast. Just west of route 40, well worth the extra minute added to your trip to avoid the fast food cluster at 40 and 213.

I was in Elkton for work, and generally like to take my corporate largess to local joints so I was looking forward to checking this place out, and saw some positive reviews. It’s clearly a local place and was charming inside, so I ordered up a cheesesteak with onions and mushrooms. There was an up charge for the mushrooms(noted on the menu so not a surprise, just odd) and a good 10 minute wait for the sandwich. I’m not sure if I caught these guys on a bad day, or if steak isn’t their thing, but the meat in the sandwich was terrible: chewy, overcooked, and loaded with several pieces of gristle that we’re like biting into rubber. Ouch! The did look popular and seemed like they had been in business for a while, so I’ll give this place another go, but the steak sandwich on this run was awful.

I’m from out of town here for the courts. I found this place on Unilocal and came here because of the good reviews and I was not disappointed. The cheese steak i had was good, the very friendly service was a relief after dealing with the court system, its cleaner then most sub shops including franchises, and the prices are average. I’m not familiar with others in the area but if I’m ever down this way again ill probably stop in for a bite to eat.

Tried this place based on the reviews. Not impressed. I can find 5 better sub shops right up the road in Newark. The food was OK, not great. Nothing special about the place itself

I believe Lena’s to have the best fresh cut french fries in Cecil County. I base this on a search I did a few years ago when my doctor had me on a variation of the South Beach Diet, but once a month I would select a different restaurant to try for the best fries. Once I stopped wasting time on places with previously frozen fries, I soon found Lena’s. In case you are wondering, I see Jake’s as a close second, followed by Fast Eddy’s, but only if you catch the latter on a good day. The only complaint I have is that the only size to these delightful fries comes in at one pound. I like the other food, but if I am alone and order the fries, I do well to just finish them. I like the friendly service as well.

Food– Good food. Lavatory — Clean. Atmosphere– I felt like a local there… But I’m not. Value– Yes. Operations– Happy friendly service. Return– Oh yes, I’ll be back. Notes: I’ve definitely bookmarked this one.

I’m afraid to write a review that is too glowing for fear of blowing our secret. This place has been in business for 50 years for a reason. Great, fast homemade sandwiches(they roast the turkey for the clubs in store daily, for example) The front counter ladies are as cute as can be and the rice pudding is second to none. A great lunch spot!

Sometimes, a local business does things better than a national chain. Lena’s is like that. They cook things exactly like you ask them to. The food is always fresh, and delicious. But the main reason I’m writing this review is that the bread they use for the subs is better than the sub rolls I’ve experienced anywhere else, including places like Subway where they bake the sub rolls on premises every day. The sub rolls at Lena’s are lighter and tastier than anywhere else I’ve ever eaten.
