Question: Does my insurance get reimbursed for the mistakes made by Advanced Radiology that resulted in 2 completely unnecessary ultrasounds(and several sleepless nights for me)? I went to Advanced radiology for my OB ultrasound at 19 wks. Everything went fine, or so I thought. I later received a call from my Mid-wife saying that the ultrasound showed my baby was measuring in the bottom 5th percentile of growth and I needed to go back to confirm. Luckily, the results came back that everything was ok and the initial findings were a complete mistake. Phew… I didn’t think anything of it. I know mistakes happen. No(major) harm done other than some wasted time and my insurance having to pay for a unnecessary ultrasound. I was later sent back at 31 weeks for a growth scan. I was told everything was fine during the appointment only to receive a phone call from my Mid-wife stating that while the growth of the baby was fine, they«think they see abnormal growth or spots on the brain.» Mind you, during the ultrasound, the baby was not cooperating and they couldn’t get a clear view of the head. Flustered, the sonographer came back with another sonographer that aggressively poked and prodded around my abdomen only to get just as unclear a view of the baby’s head. Knowing they didn’t get a clear view, this place still proceeded to relay the findings in such a manner that lead me and my Mid-wife to believe there was something very wrong with the development of my baby’s brain. As you can imagine, this lead to much unnecessary stress for me and 5 sleepless nights as I waited to be seen by a specialist. Everything turned out completely normal and the specialist said that getting an accurate view of the portion of the brain they were looking at is always very subjective to angle and this is commonly known. In layman’s terms, the folks at Advanced Radiology are basically incompetent to a degree and should have just recommended a follow up ultrasound rather than causing a bunch of stress. The unclear view they had gotten was certainly not grounds to come to the conclusion they did. I can handle one mistake, I can even handle two, but in this field, I would think their accuracy levels would be a bit higher especially when they are dolling out information as critical as fetal brain development. So back to my initial question, should my insurance have to pay for the incompetence of this place? I’m giving them 2 stars though because every time I have been, the front desk was always friendly and prompt(not so common from receptionist staff in medical establishments). I never had to wait past my appointment time and although the sonographers all made massive errors, they did it with a smile on their face and a good attitude;) Moral of the story: Don’t come here for OB ultrasounds unless you are looking to be stressed out of your mind during your pregnancy.

Well, it’s time to give this place the lowest possible rating for completely failing at keeping appointments. I had made an appointment a couple weeks prior. I chose a specific date and time slot based on my many other responsibilities, including other doctors’ appointments, taking care of my son, and when my boss would let me take off from work. After arriving at the facility early and sitting for about 20 minutes, they call me up and begin to process me… but then interrupt to explain that my appointment will be 1 hour late. I told them that was acceptable, as this would conflict with other events. After seeing if they could see me on time and concluding they couldn’t, a manager talked to me. They said they couldn’t control when someone reacted poorly to an MRI. I asked why they didn’t call me after the front desk admitted they’d known for 2 hours, instead of having me leave work a half-day early, losing pay, just to drive up there. All they would do is apologize and keep trying to reschedule me for times I could not make it. How about after work? I have to pick up my son every day. How about on Saturday? My wife works and I have to take care of the kids. How about in the evening? Oh, that might work… Oh, wait, sorry but the machine you need is closed at night. *head desk* So, I end up choosing to lose work again and schedule for the coming week. Well, the morning of the appointment I get a phone call… they have to reschedule me for some other time because the machine is down and won’t be working for at least 24 hours. Nope, I’m done. Fool me once, shame on me… fool me twice, yeah. I complained to my doctor who referred me there, they’re having a talk with the head of the company right now. Do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere. If your doctor recommends them, ask for a different choice.

I’ve been going to the Dorsey Advanced Radiology for almost 3 years now since I have some joint issues that require regular MRIs. I have had x-rays, MRIs and mammograms at this practice and each time I go I sincerely appreciate how kind and supportive the staff is. Even when you call to schedule, the person on the phone is always very nice. When you get there, the front office staff can get overwhelmed during busy times– if you’re appt is b/w 12 – 2, you should show up 15 minutes early to register. They tell you this when you make the appt and I can assure you, it’s to your advantage to follow their advice. Once you are out of the waiting room, the experience is quite surprisingly peaceful. The staff who have worked with me have always been professional and have always discussed with me what my procedure is, what I should expect, and then ask me if I have any questions– in a non patronizing way which I really like. In fact I’ve even had some tests that require a physician to perform various procedures prior to an MRI and the relationship they seemed to have with the staff appeared very amicable– I really like it when I feel that someone with a needle in their hand is in a good mood :) My husband has also had an MRI here and he was similarly impressed.

There are few things I hate more than the endless waiting that’s often required when getting medical care, so I was happy to learn how fast & efficient Advanced Radiology is. I’m sure it helps that my appointment was at 7:30AM, but it was great getting out with my MRI results in hand by 8:15. The staff was also very friendly and helpful.

Had to go here today(have been here a dozen times before) for facial /skull x-rays due to a pretty bad bike accident last night. The staff is so nice and friendly, the girls at the desk offered me an ice pack as soon as I walked in for my busted up face and I was in and out of there within 20 minutes without feeling rushed.
