Andy has been cutting hair, since I don’t know how long. His shop is like a step back in time, all the military memorabilia alone is worth the visit. And where else do you get a $ 10 haircut, and feel like you are in a barber chair on the set of «The Andy Griffith Show»?

Id have to say that going to Andy’s barbershop because I was in a hurry was a huge mistake. Andy’s barbershop is a very humble and welcoming place. However as welcoming as it was the service was just bad. Andy is a military vet and I have the upmost respect for him but He may need to use glasses or take a refresher for cutting hair. I go in at 5:10pm and see Andy is currently with a customer which is fair, first come first serve. Then next to his chair was an older female barber who I guess was waiting for a customer? Not sure. To begin with I wasn’t sure if she was a barber or not because she didn’t ask me if I wanted a haircut or anything. She just sat down at her station and talked to the customer Andy was currently attending. After about 20mins Andy is available to see me, I then realized that the lady who was there with Andy is a barber. It blew my mind she didn’t bother to ask if I needed a haircut or if I needed anything period. I would have been in and out that 20mins I waited. So I sit down and chat with Andy, he then picks up the scissors and is about to cut my hair. Right before he does I say«I didn’t tell you what to do with my hair yet» he says oh yeah what would you like done. I said«number 1 on the side, trim on the top» he says okay. ONEWHOLEHOURLATER he shows me the end result. Any other barber I’ve been to only takes 15mins for this haircut. It’s simple and not that complicated. Andy seemed to have trouble holding the clippers and seeing what he was doing. He had to make a few corrections after I told him how awkward the haircut looked. He said it was what I asked for I said nope that’s not what it looks like everywhere else I get this haircut. Andy tried to correct his mistakes but I still have to get my hair fixed. I paid him $ 10 which is a good price but no tip. I will not be going back ever, nor do I recommend anyone going to get a haircut there. I’ll give him the one star for being a nice guy and for his hospitality. Andy may have been an awesome barber a while ago but at the moment he’s very rusty.

Worst haircut I’ve had in a few years. For the first time in a long time I decided to go to a barber shop like I used to go when I was a kid. Andy’s definitely fit the bill. I walked in and get like I was in a legit old barber. The barber in the back room talked nonstop about what was wrong with ‘Merica. Andy was very polite and didn’t recognize me. As it was my first visit. I told him how I wanted my haircut, it’s what I tell every person who has cut my hair for a long time, «Zero blade, up the sides, tapered, take off the top enough so it lays over when I part it». He cut it with a 2, when I asked him to cut it shorter he said he’d cut enough off and anymore wouldn’t look right. After the haircut if it weren’t for the hair I saw on the floor. I wouldn’t know I got a haircut. It was a good price though $ 10, half what I normally pay.

I have been coming to Andy’s Barber shop for over 20 years and keep going back because of the great service, fair price as well as the nostalgia. There aren’t very many barber shops that have that classic feel with all of the military nick nacks and the awesome barbers. Since I have been coming here the price has gone up $ 2. I remember when haircuts were $ 8 and now they have gone up to a more then fair price of only $ 10! The place is cash only and everyone here is like family after a few visits. Come in for a great haircut and an enjoyable ambiance.

This review is on behalf of a 9 year old boy who had hair cut disasters before. He greatly appreciated our now 2nd visit to Andy’s Barber Shop! The place is a walking Military tribute with various pieces of memorabilia covering the walls, and airplanes hanging from the ceiling tiles. Every square inch of this place is covered in Navy Seal stuff. It makes for a little boy’s delight! Andy seems continously busy with quite the regular clientele. We have been to Tina twice who listened! Wow… a barber who respects the client(even though he is 9) and doesn’t automatically break out clippers! This is a really cool shop… finally a good barber shop has been discovered in Ellicott City. Try it… I think your kids and well… any man will love it!
