When it’s cold outside, come here to try the variety of seafood soups they offer. #17 is a spicy cod fish soup, #18 is the spicy monkfish soup, and #23 is the spicy whiting fish soup. I’m not quite sure what the other spicy looking soups are(I think one is pollack roe though). They are generous with the amount of fish. It’s a flavorful, fish broth with a clam, cod fish pieces(beware of bones), zucchini, green onions, kimchi/cabbage, beansprouts, and firm tofu pieces. It’s not overly spicy that it covers up the other delicate flavors of the soup. Comes with rice and a side of pickeled radish kimchi.

I come to eat at Fuku Sushi every time I visit Lotte. I don’t live near Ellicott City so it’s not often but I thought it was pretty good in the past. A few weeks ago, I got the bento box w/Eel. The portion was okay but I found a piece of hair in the tempura pancake they give you. I’m not unreasonable– 1 piece of hair is bound to fall into something at some point but the part that pissed me off was how they handled it. When I brought it back to the counter and informed the man, he kept looking back down at the sushi he was making and said simply, «Oh… really?» And I said, «Yes». And he just stood there… «Oh really…»… and then the older lady gave me a death stare. I was so intimidated I just put it down and walked away. And that was that. When they saw me walking away from the food court, I could see in the corner of my eye that they just then came to inspect the food. I can chalk it up to bad luck(i mean come on– who really wears hair nets all the time?) but to stare me down when YOU screwed up… and NOT apologize… WOW… never again.

Fuku Sushi is located in the«food court» of the Oriental market Lotte. It’s run by a Korean woman and her husband. You can find it in between the authentic Korean restaurant and the fairly authentic Japanese restaurant that’s run by Koreans. It’s cheap and you get what you pay for. That’s not to say that it’s crap… cuz I do enjoy their cheap sushi. They have a fairly large selection of rolls/sashimi for a restaurant of their limited size. I say it’s what you pay for because it’s not fresh. The rice is always soggy and the rolls are smaller than any other place I’ve been. The crew has a surly disposition, so order as if they were«The Soup Nazi.» Just order, pay, and walk away. When your order is ready, they won’t say your order’s up but instead try to make eye contact with you even if you’re thirty feet away.
