Stopped going to sonic after multiple bad experiences. When I first heard a sonic would be opening in my area I was excited because previously, the closest Sonic was miles away on the way to the beach and it was always a tradition to stop each summer. Once this sonic opened I was exciting to be able to get it whenever I wanted but was quickly disappointed with the slow service and sub-par food. Every time I go, the drive through takes at least 10 minutes and the employees show no signs of urgency or care for their jobs, this could be remedied if the food was served warm and the order was correct. Each time I finally got my order I would be angered that even after a long wait I still didn’t have what I ordered. The only plus is that sonic has a unique menu with good milk shakes and slushies and the menu offers something unique that is different than McDonald’s or other fast food chains.

I love Sonic, but the only reason I’m giving it 4 stars is because not everyone makes the milkshakes right. some times they half make it so it’s mostly just icecream… no extra additives that comes with it.

Slow and messed up my order. Love Sonic so when in the area decided to stop here. First and will be the last. Tough to get in/out of, took forever for them to get back to me after I pushed button to order and they asked me to wait(turned into 5 – 10 min) and I ordered a coney add mustard and onion and ended up with a plain hot dog with mustard and onion even though the receipt showed my order correctly. Will get my Sonic fixes at other locations but not here.

I love their Chicago dog because of the fabulous bun and of course the toppings. I was super excited to order a footlong one day. and you can imagine my dismay when I opened it and noticed it was a regular bun. I’ll be sticking to buying 2 of the regular buns and of course a corn dog… yum!!!

I didn’t know this was here until I had an appointment in the area and decided to come back and get some food. I usually stick with the hot dogs which I do not eat often. I have never gone inside or used the drive through only used the drive-in and it has been slow. Food was good, nothing missing in the order but that slow service is a deal breaker for me. I may be back in the future to give them another shot.

I thought I’d try Sonic and it was just ok. The burgers are tasty. My daughter loves the slushy drinks with nerds inside. I’m sure it’s full of calories but for a once in a while treat, it’s fun. She enjoyed ordering and eating in the car.

The more I eat at Sonic to more I realize it’s good to not be a dick and order to their strengths. That means the real ice cream shakes, and that means coming after 8 pm where they are have price. These are hands down premium type-shakes that you’d pay five or six bucks at at most places because of the«real» ice cream thickness(gotta be at least 10% milkfat) and they don’t skimp out with flavors or whipped cream. The Vanilla and Strawberry shakes are simple but damn near perfect, and are frankly all you need given the calorie counts these run. Just make sure you get a spoon because straws are about as helpful as an umbrella in a tsunami. Also, I think it’s worth mentioning this location employs a lot of high schoolers and younger adults, which I really like, because it can be tough to get a job at that age and because most of the kids have a lot of enthusiasm. I’ve only had pleasant interactions with all. I also like how there’s an inside area that always has sports on. It’s a great change of pace from all the old people who crowd up McDonald’s and insist on watching CNN.

I hadn’t been to a Sonic in years and, okay, so Unilocal said that this place got 3 stars. I should have taken the hint. I didn’t. I thought, it’s Sonic? How could it be bad. Well it wasn’t bad. But it wasn’t really good either. I ordered a sausage/egg/cheese toaster w/tater tots. The tots were hot, salted just right, crisp and delicious. I was so excited about how good they were that I thought the reviews had been wrong. I ordered my sandwich cut in half so I could nosh as I drove. I pulled it out. It wasn’t toasted. It was hot, but not toasted. The bread was chewy and hot, not toasted… maybe microwaved? The egg had plenty of pepper, not a stitch of salt. Had it not been for the cheese and sausage my toaster would have been too bland to eat. The only reason why I am giving them a 3 star instead of a 2 star is because the staff were nice and the tots were good.

Have been coming here for a few months, and hadn’t had a problem until today. Today(when I started writing review) is monday, and right now Sonic is having a monday wing special. So we’re like damn, 48 wings for 16 bucks is not a bad deal at all. Now we pull into the drive in, and we actually took time to read the advertisement that stated for orders of 12 pcs or 24 pcs you could get up to 2 flavors per order. So we push the button for service and the guy comes on. We tell him we’d like the buy one get one deal, and that we want a 24 pc box half asian style, and half garlic parm. He rings is up for 24 asian and 24 garlic parm. I try again to explain it to him, but he’s just not getting it, and since he doesn’t seem to understand, he tries to tell me that i cannot have a 24 pc order with 2 flavors per the promotion. Meanwhile the promotion keeps popping up on the menu screen stating the opposite. So we tell him we’ll get back to him in a second, and we talk it over. We hit the button again a few minutes later, and then we get a young lady, and the saga continues… All I wanted was(2) 24 pcs wings with(2) flavors per box 48 wings total. What i end up with is(2) 24pcs with(1) flavor per box, and(2) 6 pcs for my kids, plus a bunch of sides. So I’m sitting here waiting on my order, and again I see it clear as day«up to 2 flavors per order for 12 or 24 pcs.» I’m with my lady and our family, and she understands that I can be hot headed, and she too at this point would just like to order what we wanted, and not what we got. So I proceed to leave car and walk into the store, but she stops me and says she will go. Knowing that I tend to blow things out of proportion when I’m getting annoyed, and she leaves and goes in. When she comes out she’s got our order. She wasn’t happy about howbthings went when she told the cashier about her issue, but at least we could leave, and we had what we came for. We get home with our food, and sit down to eat. I open up the bag, and wouldn’t you know. Our order was the way we asked for it, but they gave us the wrong flavors. The worst part is when you go 20 minutes out of your way to go to a place, and you get home and they muck your order up, and only put a pinch of nerds in your slush drink… smh.

Been trying to cut down on fast food. but if I get in the mood this is my new go-to(except when it comes to Chick-Fil-A fries, McDonald’s vanilla iced coffee. or Chipotle). That’s all!

Boyfriend I felt like having a «cheat day» so we decided to eat some sonic! This location was the most high tech location I’ve been to. You can order and pay with a credit card at the curbside machine. Although, ours didn’t seem to work and the person who brought us our food had to take our card inside. I ordered a cheese burger and the Chicago dog with a strawberry milk shake. The burger was amazing and the milkshake was great, super creamy and big chunks of strawberries. The Chicago dog was a little sour and spicy but still very very good. We received our order and there was an extra burger! Seems like they charged us for 3 burgers when we only ordered 2. Honestly didn’t really mind, since we were both starving! Lol The food was really good and the service was quick. I’d definitely go back for some more !!

I LOVE chili cheese hot dogs and they make them very well. Other favorites include their Limeaids and the Banana Crème Pie Shake. HOWEVER, everytime I’ve been with anyone who doesn’t order a «coney», they’ve actually disliked it so much they’ve tossed the food out. I went two days ago with a companion and he ordered a chicken sandwich combo. He took two bites and was disgusted. They are CONSTANTLY messing up orders. My companion didn’t even get his drink and a friend counted that out of twenty two visits, twenty were messed up in one way or another. When I went Monday, they took my companion’s credit card with nary a word, then shoved it back at him. There was absolutely no customer service. Sure, we got food, but not the ones ordered and the cashier couldn’t be bothered to say«here’s your credit card back», let alone«Thank you.» I’m giving up the chili cheese coneys and limeaids. It’s just not worth the hassle.

So, I’ve been several times and so far out of the things I’ve tried, I don’t like the sandwiches. I have not had a hot dog yet but the burgers & crispy chicken sandwich are not that great. If I come here, I love the tater tots, limeades, and milkshakes. After 8, milkshakes are half price. They’re very thick & more than just chocolate, vanilla, strawberry. They have numerous flavors. Sonic is a great for snacks & drinks, that’s about it.

This sonic location is a little bit awkward. It seems like they don’t have enough car parks and the whole entrance/driveway is awkward. It took a little long to get our food but it was all tasty(fast) food.

This Sonic opened up back in October ’14, so it is still pretty new in the area. Sonic offers burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, breakfast items, combos, kids meals, and shakes/limeades/slushes. The hubs and I(okay, okay, truthfully, me) were craving for a little ‘snack time,’ so we decided to go through the drive-thru. I was so excited to see the ‘Cheesy Bacon Pretzel Dog’ on their website while waiting in queue, and noticed that it was a ‘regional’ special; I was so relieved that I saw it on the menu: P It’s a beef hot dog in a pretzel bun, topped with salty bacon bits, grilled onions, and melted cheese. It was just okay, as I just thought it was be a little bit more tastier — the pretzel bun kind of fell flat, as it wasn’t warm slightly dry T___T I also had my standard of the Chili Cheese Tots(tator tots topped with chili cheese and melted cheese), which is tasty with the ketchup — just be sure to request these ‘off the fryer/dropped fresh,’ and, of course, the Cherry Limeade(always refreshing! Request little ice). Service was extremely friendly, and even though there was a huge line at the drive-thru, the staff were pretty efficient in filling in the orders. I was surprised that they also had a dine-in area, the first time I’ve seen one at a Sonic’s! +Cherry Limeade: D +Chili Cheese Tots(request ‘off the fryer’/‘dropped fresh’) +dine-in area! +friendly staff: D

I heard a rumor that this owner was the man who wanted to open this Sonic next to the Arundel Mills Mall Casino but lost a multi million dollar battle to Dunkin Donuts who looks like they are about to open any day now. I did notice that this sonic is relatively small compared to other locations that I have been to, however, the other locations I have been to have been more«tropical/beachy/vacation» areas where ice cream is an everyday must. I. Do. Not. Care. This is place is smaller than most. HELLO?! We have a SONIC in the area people! GETEXCITED! We no longer have to drive to Delaware or get harassed at the Baltimore location! This is awesome!!! So far I have been here twice and both experiences have been great and literally fulfilling =) First time I ordered a reeses blast, which compares to McDonalds, however, Sonic beats MickeyD’s by miles. Second order consisted of WAYTOMUCHFOOD. I signed up for this location text messages, which obviously go directly to my phone. This was either the best decision I have ever made or the worst one(for my nonexistent abdominals). They sent me a text celebrating«Noturkey Day,» which meant that ALL single patty burgers were half off. We ordered FOUR and a cheesecake shake AND a snickers waffle cone. I would have to say that the waffle cones do not hold up to the time that I eat ice cream, it started to get soggy and fall apart – I wouldn’t allow small child or anyone who is messy to order this in my car. NOTUPINHERE!!! Very messy – but then again, it could have been me. Overall, YAYSONICISHERE!

Alright… So the long-awaited Ellicott City Sonic has finally been made and it has been around long enough now that the crazy drive thru lines no longer plague the restaurant. On top of that, the employees have had enough time to get the hang of things as well. Therefore, I think enough time has passed to give a objective review. The first thing I noticed about the Sonic is the size. It is like half the size of other Sonics I have seen. It’s pushed away to the side of a Goodwill store and almost feels like an afterthought… kind of like as if the property owner was like, «hey… There’s some extra room here! Let’s just stick some fast food restaurant there.» Because it’s so small, I have a few complaints with the design. First getting in and out of the parking lot is a little awkward. Secondly, if you decide to eat in, it feels a little cramped inside. Likewise, the drive thru is a little cramped feeling as well… I don’t have a big car but when I’m exiting, I feel my car barely fits. That’s not to say big cars won’t fit… I’ve seen huge SUVs successfully get in and out so its more of a perceived crampiness, not an actual physical one. In terms of the food, it’s your typical Sonic. Now, I don’t think their burgers are particularly great… If it’s burgers you want, just keep driving down Route 40 and go to one of the many other fast food joints in the area. What I think Sonic does well is actually their hot dogs, particularly the Chicago dog. I love the Chicago style hot dog and it’s hard to find in this area. So while Chicago purists may find faults with the dog, I’d say it’s still amongst Sonics best menu items. The service here used to be super slow but it seems to have sped up now since the workers and employees presumably have now gotten used to everything. Overall, it’s another fast food choice in Ellicott City. Take it for what it is… But variety is always welcomed so i have no problem with it being here. That being said, there are some physical design things that irk me but overall, I like it. 3.5 rounded to 4 stars.

The traffic flow is a little dicey and they open a little later for breakfast, but other than those two factors, I am really loving Sonic. I wasn’t blown away by the breakfast burrito, but the tater tots were perfect. I’ve had the tots multiple times and they are ALWAYS crispy. There is nothing worse than an undercooked tater tot, right??? The burgers are much superior to other fast food chains in my opinion and the milkshakes are just amazing! Chocolate peanut butter milkshake?! Can’t say no to that. Give it a try, the crowds have died down now since the initial opening.

This Sonic is unique in that it only have 8 parking bays but has a drive through AND an outdoor and indoor dining area. Inside, there’s 84-chair tables plus a 7-chair bar. Cozy but spacious enough. It feels like a mini-Sonic compared to previous locations. However, I have doubts this one will do just fine. For now, don’t plan on a quick experience until some of the newness wears off. Plus, the drive-thru seemed to move twice as slow as most.
