Visited this vineyard for the first time and absolutely fell in love! Such a quaint and homey place! Alease was our bartender and she made us feel so welcome! She has such a great personality and only adds to the atmosphere! I will be coming back!

Lovely interior and warm and inviting with the fireplace going. Bought the chardonnay. It is very dry but good. Steep price for a bottle of local wine but I wanted to support them. Nice drive out there, can’t wait to sit by the fire outside and listen to music.

I had a good time here, but this place is only okay. The tasting room is small but lovely, when we arrived there was no one else there and a large dog was in the parking lot barking like crazy. That made me not want to get out of my car, honestly, and I think that folks need to leave their damn dogs at home. Anyways, the dog is old and harmless, he barked a bunch, growled a little, but never got up off of the ground. My partner and I each had a tasting of 5 wines for $ 10. The pours were generous and we were easily able to share tastes. I wasn’t struck by any of the wines, but I did buy a bottle of the«Sassy Sister» blush to share with my own sassy sister. The sweet wines on the menu are far too sweet, almost like syrup. I know that sweet wine is popular in Georgia, but if I want peach syrup, I’ll buy peach syrup. The only downside was that the doors of the place were wide open — front and back. This was nice because the weather was good, but there were tons of bugs flying around and landing in our wine. She actually had to re-pour for us more than once because of dead bugs floating in our wine. Sometimes she’d just pour out the dead bug and leave the rest in the glass for us to drink. Come on! She also didn’t give any descriptions of the wine or tell us what to pair them with. I moved here from Virginia, which has a huge wine culture, and came to really enjoy the more attentive tastings with thorough descriptions of each wine and paring suggestions. It actually helps you sell more wine if you talk about them more instead of just pouring them and walking away, but I have had this experience at every winery I’ve been to in GA so far, even the ones that consider themselves upscale.

We stopped at the vineyard after spending a rather disappointing day at the Apple Festival. After braving the ridiculous traffic we pulled into the vineyard and my heart initially sank. There were children running all over screaming and chasing each other. All I wanted was a nice, quiet place to drink some wine and unwind from the day. I was pleasantly surprised that is exactly what happened. My husband and I purchased 2 wine tasting sets with include 5 wines and 1 glass per person. By sharing our wines we were able to sample all 10 wines. Three of them were decent enough that we purchased a bottle. Out back we found a lovely table with it’s own little view. It was far enough away from the throngs of people and their noisy children that we did not feel trampled on but close enough that we could appreciate the sounds of laughter and live music as lovely ambiance. We purchased a cheese tray and opened a bottle of Georgia On My Mind and proceeded to have an enchanting evening in our secret little alcove. This place does not have any sort of WOW factor to it but it does provide a few little areas that give you the space to set your own relaxing mood. If you find yourself in the area it is certainly a nice stop to make.

We stopped in to taste the wines after seeing a road sign while visiting Ellijay for the day. The one person working was on the phone when we walked in and seemed very put out by our presence. When we started the tasting my grandmother had a muscadine wine poured first so I asked«oh, are all the wines muscadine?» The host answered very rudely«what do you mean if they are all Muscadine?»… Like, was my question hard? Anyways, not all of them are muscadine, easily answered for you all.

Was in the area specifically to visit the cluster of vineyards in the area. The tasting was $ 10.70(w/ tax) for 5 wines and a glass to take home. I was really disappointed from the start when I got my first selection not so much as a description of what I was drinking, what it could be paired with nothing! Had they had a more mature staff perhaps we would have gotten that. I’m not sure though. If the wine was exceptional I could have looked past that but the wine was just subpar perhaps even bordering on below par.

A very fun stop for the whole family. While the adults were trying the different wines we let our daughter run around the vineyard where she met 3 very friendly dogs and had a blast running around. We went a Tuesday so there was no live music, but we had a lot of fun just hanging out and taking in the beautiful scenery. The wines were good, my favorite was the Cabernet Sauvignon and the Legendary Cider. Super fun, do not miss!!!

We visited Cartecay winery after floating the Cartecay river on a Sunday afternoon as part of our bachelor party. For $ 10 you get to taste 5 different wines and keep the taster glass. The hostess that day was super friendly and was very nice to put up with 9 guys that have been drinking all day. The Chimay red was our group’s favorite. They have live music during most of Saturdays i believe.

Some of the wines are really great — complex and unique and very worth trying. They also have a lot of wine for beginner types — sweet!(We didn’t try those, so I can’t comment). The atmosphere is nice, but the price for a tasting — $ 10.70/person — is way too steep, so unfortunately, we won’t be back.

Was a stormy humid Saturday in the loft, live music and decent wine. Fun way to spend the afternoon. Not many signs for directions buy definitely recommend.

Visited here this past week. He winery is beautiful! The lady pouring our samples was incredibly kind and made us feel at home. She explained each wine and happily answered any questions we had(we are newbies). The winery is gorgeous and had a nice fire place, chairs, and gazebos to enjoy the scenery over a glass of wine. It was a very homey feel. The wine ranges from $ 15 – 28 a bottle. It was $ 10.70 for 6 tasting and that included wine or cider beer samples. They were very hefty samples and you can get to keep the glass. Why not 5 stars? The tasting seemed pricey and I wish they were wooden barstool at the bar that we could have sat on while sampling the wine. Give this place a try, it was a great variety of dry and sweet and it was delicious!

We had a wonderful visit to this charming vineyard. Compared to other wineries we’ve visited, there is less to do(no tour, for example) but the tasting was a great experience and a nice value. $ 10 includes 5 tastings of your choice and the souvenir glass. We had great service from Darlene at the tasting and enjoyed the unique varieties of wine Cartecay created(:

It is a cozy place with friendly staff. The live music was fun too… the wine isn’t great though… If you want good wine you might need to try another winery… but if you want to have some good time with friends, it is the place to go…

Cartecay Vineyards was a very peaceful environment. It was the perfect spot to kick back, take in the scenery, and of course partake in drinking a few glasses of wine. For $ 8, you are given a souvenir tasting glass and five generous tastings from a dozen or so available wines. While it should be noted that the wines are«eh» — like cheap box wine at your local grocery store, they are still enjoyable. The value is in the tranquil setting and the experience more than anything else. When the weather permits, I highly recommend sitting outside in one of the many metal rocking chairs near their outdoor fireplace(which just so happens to be the Cartecay Vineyard’s logo). The ladies pouring the wine were very friendly and welcoming.

This place was pretty cool. And the live music and nice landscaping helped. However, the $ 8 tasting is a gamble. Some of the wine’s aren’t bad, but a few have a long way to go before they should be sold. And the most unfortunate part is they’re the expensive ones! That said, they sell cider, and the cider’s not bad. Mercier is just getting into the game, and at the price point, I don’t expect too much. So if you’re friends are wanting wine, and you don’t, you can still hang out and have a cider.

$ 8 gets you a tasting(5 different wines or ciders) and you get to keep the glass. Owners are inviting and knowledgable. Tasting room is a barn from the outside, a cozy living room/kitchen, upstairs function room from the inside. The porches overlook one of the vineyards.

Reading through reviews I had wondered about their extra charges for entertainment on the weekends. Not a good thing! What this establishment should do is hire the entertainment for their customers to enhance their tasting experience. I am going to be a neighbor of this place, but will not attend on the weekends that’s for sure.
