Ironto Safety Rest Area

This is the nicest rest stop I have ever been to so had to review it. The bathrooms are new and clean! Great facilities for people in wheelchairs with paved paths, handicap parking near entrance, button to open bathroom door, sinks lower for wheelchairs.
This rest stop also has beautiful picnic areas with picnic tables and bbq grills. Also great for furry kids with doggie bags available to help maintain the area clean.

Judging by the size of the parking lot for this rest area, you would think there were be large restroom facilities but alas there is not. The restrooms are standard for the middle of nowhere in Virginia.
It’s your typical run of the mill rest area — restrooms, vending area, picnic tables and a historic marker for a former resort that used to be nearby.

Stopped here for a bio-​break during a long drive along I-​81. The facilities were clean and well-​maintained.

This is one of the cleanest rest areas I’ve ever been to. It’s in a great location, since there are no other places to stop in this area.

As far as rest areas go this is a great place to stop! It’s well lit, has clean facilities, vending machines, and a large picnic area for walking pets.

Another quality Virginia Rest Area sponsored by Geico! This one is located on Interstate 81 (I-​81) Northbound, very close to the town of Elliston, VA — even though it’s named for Ironto, VA — which is a tad farther away from the physical rest stop.
As usual, stopped in to stretch the legs, use the restroom facilities, and get my bearings.
