Gingam’s is «OK». Definetly a seniors place. Reasonable price, average comfort food with good service. You don’t get excited about eating here but it gets the job done.

This is one of the great breakfast places. It reminds me of the restaurant of ol’ Perkins Pancake House. I had the classic 2 eggs, cooked to perfection over easy. Sausage patties, these where a little old and must have sat on the back burner for a little to long, I need to use a knife to cut them and they where chewy. You have a choice of 3 fluffy pancakes or toast and hash browns. I usually have toast and hash browns with breakfast but being Thanksgiving I decided to go a different route and chose pancakes. Now let me tell you that this was an excellent choose. These pancakes had to be the best I have ever had. Very fluffy, lite melt in your mouth good. The syrup is served worm and ready to pour as needed just the way I like it. The coffee service is awesome, the give you a whole pot that is left on the table so you never have to wait for coffee. My server, Ashly, was very accommodating, not overly attentive but had perfect time to ask if there was anything I needed, almost like she had an alarm that told her to check tables. So if your in the neighborhood of Ellisvile stop in for breakfast and see if Ashley is working and you’d be sure to have a great start to your day. I did, Cheers

Great food. Reasonable prices. Friendly wait staff. Clientele is of the AARP variety, so be prepared to be the youngest customer if you are under 40.

Another Sunday and another breakfast adventure took us to Gingham’s. I must admit to some skepticism, due to the size of the place. I thought it could be another Hometown Buffet which is the height of mediocrity. As I noted in other breakfast reviews, I really always want Mexican breakfast, but since I have found nothing like that closer than a 45 minute drive, we have been going to such places as First Watch, Sunrise Café, Bob Evans, IHOP and now Ginghams. Of this list, and based on one visit, I would probably put Ginghams at the top. I would give a slight nod to The Hearth Room or Olivette Diner, if for nothing other than atmosphere. I was hungry for an egg sandwich on buttery toast with sausage. They offer nothing exactly like that so I ordered a cheese omelet, whole wheat toast and a side of sausage patties and made my own sandwich. Note to self for next time; ask them to only put cheese inside the omelet and limit the cheese to cheddar. They melted an excessive quantity of Swiss and cheddar on the top and I had to scrape it off to get to the egg. They feature Farmland sausage and bacon, which I know to be high quality products and the sausage patties did not disappoint. They were not over fried as was the experience at Sunrise. The sandwich I made was excellent. Ms T had the Classic; two eggs, over easy with sausage links and toast. Her eggs were cooked exactly the way she likes them and the portion was four links of sausage. In this case the links could have been cooked slightly more(just slightly) but they were also Farmland and tasted great. Four links is unusual and we actually left one behind. Both of our meals were accompanied by really good, crispy hash browns. Our service was excellent. We were not early, but since this is a large establishment, there was ample seating. For a straight ahead American breakfast, this is a decent place to go.

Perhaps there is now a restaurant that can withstand the curse of its location. After many failed attempts in the lot, Gingham’s restaurant has moved in. My husband and I met with my parents, nephew, and his mother this afternoon. Gingham’s is 24 hours serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner throughou the day. I don’t know how much demand there really is for a 24 hour joint beyond Steak n Shake in West County, but here you have it. I had the«guiltless» omelette, which is only guiltless if you’re on the Atkins Diet. My husband got the fiesta breakfast. Mom got the patty melt. My nephew got the kiddie breakfast. HIs mom got the french dip. Can’t remember what dad had, but I’d take bets on a stock breakfast combo. Everyone enjoyed their plates. No one raved about it being the greatest thing ever, but usually you only get comments if something isn’t up to par. We’ll definitely keep Gingham’s in our Sunday morning repertoire.
