Our family just happened upon this gem because another restaurant told us we had a 30 minute wait… food was outstanding. The nachos are huge and you can add all kind of options. The burritos aren’t your average tasting generic burrito… very flavorful. The beer section is more than satisfactory! This place is hip and the people that worked there were very friendly!

Went here on a whim after seeing it on Unilocal as my wife and I were on our way home from Bar Harbor. If you find yourself in Ellsworth and need a lunch spot, 86 This is it. I had the Skankin’ Pickle sandwich; it kind of resembled a Cuban. The ingredients were fresh, and I was impressed by the flavor profile. It’s sad that I live 2,000 miles away from this place. Cool ambience and great staff as well. Not bad, Ellsworth.

Love the yam burrito. This is what we get whenever we got to Ellsworth. The sweet potato has spices on it. Too hot for our littles one. Order at counter and take out or sit down.

Delicious, fresh and fast. We stopped there during our road trip and it was perfect. The cookies were amazing for a later on snack, people very very nice and I hope I will come across that place again !

Yum. Get the pulled pork burrito. Portion size is not an issue unless you like itsy bitsy burritos. This generous one had beautiful red cabbage slaw. The salad we ordered was phenomenal with«noodles» made of zucchini and carrots and really excellent tomatoes considering we are in Maine in May. My husband dumped his drink twice maybe because of a tilted table in front of the window? Either that or he is really uncoordinated tonight.

I’m really surprised at the almost uniformly glowing reviews. Have you people never had good Mexican? Whether authentic or new/re-imagined/hipster, Mexican is not hard to make tasty(see: Chipotle). I’ve easily found good Mexican in large cities and small towns. Heck, I’ve done better in my own kitchen and I’m not well-versed in the cuisine. I came twice to make sure the first time wasn’t a fluke. Here are the deets: NACHOS: chips not warmed, cheese kind of cold and congealed. Not pleasant. Tostitos salsa from the jar would have been an improvement on their own salsa. I’ve had better nachos from a convenience store attached to a gas station. Not trying to be mean, just honest! CHILI: decent. BURRITO/WRAP 1: this was a vegetarian wrap. Tomatoes too cold. Greens slightly less than fresh. BURRITO/WRAP 2: again, tomatoes and cheese inside were ice-cold. They need not be warm, as I get they are«fixings», but try taking them out of the fridge to come approximately to room temp before preparing the burrito. Otherwise the shocking temperature difference really detracts from the taste of the burrito. The meat seemed to be quality, so this is a shame. Anyway the cheese flavor was too front and center. I don’t think it allowed room for the other burrito flavors, because I don’t remember any of them. This is coming from someone who loves cheese. The place has a trendy vibe(e.g., you’ll find an eclectic beer selection). Personally, I like the offbeat music they choose(metal, thrash, etc.), but such liberties should only be taken when backed up with solid cuisine and food prep.

What a great little place! Loved the Yam I Am, it was warm, filling and a welcome find(especially since I came during the winter off season).

Excellent burritos. Exactly what we needed — 1 x boss hog, 1 x rockabilly, 1 x nachos for the kids. All were really good. The space, including the bathrooms were clean and pleasantly decorated. Love it and recommend it!

Found this gem of a place on the 1 south. The food is awesome. They serve great sandwiches and Moxie and Mexican coke. Great food!

Hipster burritos … it was average at best. Nothing to write home about.

First time in their new location. Very trendy open look. I was going to dine in, but it was a beautiful summer day. I decided to go to the Ellsworth Marina. I had the huge BOSSHOGGBURRITO and SPITTINGVENOMCHILI. The burrito was delicious for lunch and dinner. This chili is actually a mild, considering the name, homemade chili with ground beef and andouille sausage, beans and aromatics. Delicious!

This place rocks. The perfect dinner stop on our way out of Acadia Nat’l park, 86 This has delicious casual food that’s healthy to boot. For example, my Mountain Goat wrap was in a spinach tortilla with herbs, mixed greens, goat cheese, and assorted veg(cucumber, carrot, etc.). My husband had the Boss Hog which was pretty tasty, though I enjoyed mine much more. I’d only minus half a star for portion size which was on the smaller side imo. But, they get the full 5 for also serving and selling 44 North, a local coffee roaster from Deer Island in Maine. It’s brewed in batch in a themos and for $ 2 for hot(and $ 3 for iced) it is one tasty tasty cup. We brought some beans home to keep our memories alive.

Thank you Unilocal, for pointing us to 86 This. From the small kitchen came the most delicious burritos we’ve had. Our 13 year old daughter said she’d gladly shave her head to get another! The Yam I Am, in particular, was fabulous. And everyone loved the creamy chipotle sauce. We will definitely be back! Update: we returned a year later. Pleased to see they’ve moved down the street to a larger location with plenty of seating. And the food is still delicious!

Best wrap in a long time. And the vegetarian chili is awesome too. No homemade ice tea but regardless, great food.

Delicious vegetarian options available in a clean, friendly environment. There are also great choices for carnivores, like pulled pork and roasted chicken wraps. The Yam I Am wrap had a crunch which I figured out was the roasted yams caramelized on the outside. Wonderful! I am so full!

Good options for both the meat lover & vegetarian. Interesting flavor combinations. I wanted to try them all! I did decide on the Boss Hog and loved it! I did feel it had a slightly over abundance of the nondescript rice filler, but the pulled pork was delicious and the pickled cabbage was a great flavor accent in the burrito. My burrito could definitely be spicier, but I’ll know to ask for a little kick for next time! They had a variety of drinks, I had the Old Soaker Sarsaparilla soda which is sweet and crisp.

Lets get one thing out of the way: these are not authentic burittos, they are gringo burritos. They are loosely inspired by the Central American food but have gone a different direction. That being said, they’re great! Very healthy, delicious and appropriate portion sizes. Also the space is beautiful and clean. Also, we had a delicious molasses cookie afterwards. Didn’t love the musical selections btw(screamo etc)

UPDATE – moved around the corner, and up the hill to state street. Brick and blue with beers too! Can’t rave enough. Seriously. When does my ferry leave??? Please stop giving it low stars because it is $ 10. Chipotle/qdoba is $ 8 and is not in the same ball park!!!

They’ve moved to Main Street– the address is incorrect. Corner of main and franklin. The food was quite tasty– I got the rockabilly and was impressed with the flavor of the citrus chipotle pulled chicken. Interesting flavor combinations and perfectly cooked meat. A bit pricey for what it is, which is really the reason for the three stars.

Wow! Unilocal does it again and leads us to an amazing restaurant with great vegetarian options. My wife and I both grew up on the downeast coast of Maine and were excited to discover a new place in a place we often visited, in Ellsworth, Maine. 86 This, is located right downtown in a cozy old brick building. They offer a wide variety of wraps, burritos, and salads, in a clean and modern space. The prices are good and the food is oh so tasty. I highly recommend, 86 This. My wife ordered the Beet Nick wrap. Which I sampled, of course. It was stuffed with cubes beets, fresh greens, and topped with a zesty creamy dill sauce. I decided on the Yam I Am burrito. I have to say it was one of the yummiest burritos I’ve had in ages! It was completely stuffed with mashed sweet potatoes, black beans, spiced rice, and avocados. In a word, amazing! The Yam I Am also had a surprisingly delicious creamy chipotle sauce. We will definitely visit again next time we are downeast. There are a couple of reviews on Unilocal that state that there are no restrooms and 86 This does not accept credit cards. We saw many folks use a restroom while we were waiting for our order today. We also came armed with cold hard cash, but it looked like the person after us paid with plastic.(I can’t confirm that, but we were pretty sure.) 86 This is a good value and serves excellent food. We LOVED it!
