Painting Supplies … no. I came to Maine on a vacation and wanted to paint while here. I’m staying near Bar Harbor(closer to Ellsworth). There were a few things I could not bring with me, or realized I forgot, so I searched for a store with Art Supplies. Unilocal led me here. The one review gave the store five stars and convinced me to drive out and take a look. I was completely disappointed. The shelves were virtually empty, no stock to speak of, so needless to say I left empty handed. I would have bought some Gamsol(or something similar) a few paints, a little brush cleaning bucket, and some brushes, etc. But the selection left me wanting. Bottom line, skip it if what you want are painting supplies. A better store was found in Hancock(Shirley’s Yarn and Crafts). There shelves were full. Not the largest selection perhaps but what they did sell, they had in stock.(The paint supply section is a small part of the overall craft store.) An even better one, further down the coast, was in Camden, called Rockport Blueprint. Lots of everything and I mean everything! And, a very knowledgeable staff, to boot! Great place.

Small shop in a boring strip mall. You would not find it if you did not go looking. But if you are on vacation with kids and you hit bad weather this should be your first stop. Kits and more kits– drawing, coloring, clay, knitting, jewelry making, trains, models, scrapbooking, whatever you can imagine. Puzzles, strong zentangle selection, all kinds of art supplies, and more that I can’t even describe. If you get stuck needing some kids entertainment, do yourself a favor and skip the Walmart and come here. Just walking around the place will get them excited.
