Ellsworth Public Library

This library was recommended to me by a local historical society.
What a great treasure this area has! This library is top line for a public library!
I was sent here to try to find some missing genealogical records. One of the head librarians is an out right whiz at genealogical searches.
I spent several hours here searching mostly online with free access to Ancestry and American Ancestors… and I found more than I bargained for!
Parking here is an issue. I lucked out and found a spot right by the building.
Traffic is heavy on the streets due to tourism.
The staff is great and very helpful.
The building itself is stunning. Open concept on the inside. Everything is very clean and crisp… I doubt there is a dust bunny issue here.
If you are doing Maine genealogy and are in the area… this is a great place to start and possibly get everything you need. Great internet access and a great selection of static data for Maine.
