I think the actual coffee part of Jo Joes is now closed and it is more of a banquet hall/catering. After hearing raving reviews from neighbors about the food out of Jo Joe Beanz I though it was the perfect for my daughters baptism. Nothing too fancy just a sandwich platter and some sides. A sandwich is a sandwich – yes — however the sides left a lot to be desired. The fruit salad consisted of cantaloupe and strawberries. The macaroni salad was macaroni and mayo. Basically I could have went to giant eagle and created this platter for much less. Maybe i was disappointed because it did not live up to the hype — but for what i paid and what i got i would not recommend this venue.

I wish this place had a menu sign when you walked in. Instead you awkwardly stand there looking around like you are lost. At some point the young girl behind the counter will notice you and then point you towards the menu. They have some breakfast items and coffee to choose from. I opted for the chai tea latte here which was just your usual Oregon Chai. There is plenty of seating here as well including some tables outside. They do catering which is where I think a bulk of their business comes from. While we were here last there were a couple of groups looking for prices on catering.

JoJoe Beanz is out of place here. It’s really nice inside, and has a few tables outside. Unfortunately, there’s little to look at when you’re seated at a window seat inside or on the patio(unless you like looking at parked ambulances.) It’s like a tornado recently picked it up out of a strip mall located somewhere nice and dropped it off in Ellwood. The tornado also changed their hours so that they’re only open until 2pm. This sucks because if I want coffee after 2pm, I have to either make it myself or drive 30 minutes to Monaca or Cranberry. My fiancé and I were just saying a few weeks ago that we wish there was a place in or around Ellwood that we could go to and sip a nice coffee. A few days later we saw JoJoe Beanz on a walk through the city. It’s as though my dream came true, but the universe is laughing at me because I forgot to include my ideal hours of operation in my wish. We were originally going to order breakfast here, but nothing on the menu really spoke to us. I got a coffee, and my Unilocaling sidekick(OK, so when it comes to Unilocal,I’m HER sidekick…) got a chai tea. We told the cashier that we were going to drink it while sitting in the café when she asked if it was to go. I got a mug; she got a disposable cup. Maybe that’s how they do the chai tea, but I think everyone can agree that it’s a better experience to drink out of a mug in a coffee shop. It feels less rushed and more welcoming. The coffee was flavorful and I’d drink it again. There is plenty of seating, and it seems like they’ll host events there, because a pregnant woman and her mom were planning a baby shower while we were drinking our coffee. JoJoe Beanz isn’t the most spectacular place to get coffee, but it’s the best place to get coffee in Ellwood.
