I have lived in Elma for 30 years and am a fan of Elma Hardware. Although I am handy around the house, I am no expert. I rely on their guidance which has always been spot on. If you can’t find something in the store, all you need to do is ask. Their staff is always friendly and willing to help.

This store has a lot of potential. Very convenient for those that live nearby, which I do. I have been here about a half dozen times in the last two years and each time I have been disappointed. Not because of the selection of products(small store that is stuffed in a disorganized fashion) or even the prices(usually high), but because of the rude owner /manager. This time will be my last. I had a return and the two guys at the register got obviously annoyed. First they chose to ignore me for a few minutes chatting to each other. The return came to $ 23 and I got a lecture on how they don’t like returns for sales over 2 weeks ago. I like to support privately owned places, but I don’t like being treated like an idiot.

This is your typical small town hardware store for the most part. The store is STUFFED to the gills with items so you never know what you might find, and I think they might have a better selection of some things compared to the big box stores.(they have a great selection of bird feeders for example) The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable when you go in as well. I just wish the place was organized a bit better, it’s a pretty disorienting place at times when you’re trying to find something specific.
