Estate and garage sale furniture can only take you so far. Eventually, the time will come when you look at your home and realize that the college apartment lifestyle just doesn’t cut it when you have a house. It’s time to start being an adult and get some real furniture. I’ve never really given Pier One much thought. I always thought it was one of those Home Goods type stores where they sell stupid, useless things like a $ 20 giant fork and spoon. However, it was nearby and my fiancé said, «Let’s give it a looksy»(not verbatim). They have a ton of stuff! And a ton of stuff I actually like! I was going around the store saying, «I want this, and this. Oooh gotta have this.» We really liked what we were seeing and it seems more durable than cheap Ikea stuff. The prices are a bit high, but their items have a neat vintage-y feel to them that the generic Ikea stuff lacks. Yes, I know, hipsters will say, «Psht. Pier One is mass produced.» So? The stuff they have looks interesting and some things can serve as conversation pieces and their stuff makes your home feel home-y(I need to stop making up words with –y). So who cares? It’s cute. I want it. The end. Anyway, we wanted a bunch of stuff and really needed to upgrade. I got everything I wanted and needed to make our home look more presentable and be more functional. I’m pretty sure our guests don’t enjoy sitting in beanless beanbag chairs. The staff was very helpful. They had some of the things we wanted while a few other pieces needed to be ordered. We were also given the option of taking the display pieces. One of the cabinets we wanted was a bit dinged, but nothing too bad. The lovely cashier said they would give us a discount on it which was nice. It wasn’t anything you would notice, but it was nice to get some money taken off since we were taking a display piece that wasn’t «perfect.» After we made our purchase, the women helped us load it in the car. I think they were surprised that we bought more than just a throw pillow and were kind of confused on how to proceed with helping us to the car, but they were still great about it. Even though we pulled a Rachel Greene(see«The One with the Apothecary Table»), I’m really happy with our new furniture. Yay Pier One!

I recently succumbed to the awesomeness that is Pier 1. It had been years since I was in a Pier 1 but this past Summer they launched a facebook promo where there was a daily deal each day. First day was $ 10 off any $ 10 purchase… score! I printed that baby off and headed to my nearest Pier 1. You can spend hours in this place. I enjoyed it so much that I contemplated getting a part time job there but I think I would be working for free since I would buy everything! Since the facebook promos, I have purchased so much. Christmas ornaments, wall art, a laptop table, a copper cat that is in a yoga pose(cool!), potted grass, pillows, etc. etc. The stuff here is sooo cool! I also love their online pick-up shopping. You can check stock from your local stores, place an order and it will be waiting for you to pick-up. You don’t even have to provide your credit card info which is equally awesome. I have used this pick-up service at all 3 Pier 1’s that are by me. Each time has worked great. There were a few times where something wasn’t in stock but the website said it was in stock. When that happened, I got a call immediately letting me know. This reminds me… it’s been a while since I’ve visited Pier 1.
