Camp Bow Wow Elmwood Park

Staff is very friendly and someone always come out to greet my dog and welcome her to Camp Bow Wow. My dog seems very happy to go there and gets plenty of exercise. When she gets home she is completely knocked out but very happy. I’ve been taking her to Camp Bow Wow in Elmwood Park for over one year. Even though it is far from my home, it is worth the trip to see my dog so happy and willing to go.

I cannot put in words how much Mocha loves Camp Bow Wow. We have been bringing her here for almost 7 years, since she was a puppy, and the mere mention of the place gets her excited. She receives wonderful care and I can’t tell which she loves more — the other dogs or the people that care for her! She’s gone for daycare as well as extended stays when we have been on vacation. We have never had less than a wonderful experience.

Camp Bow Wow-​Elmwood Park is amazing! I’ve been taking my dog there for about a month now and we absolutely love it. The facility is spotless and very welcoming. My dog always comes home tired and happy. I love that I can check in on him on the live cameras whenever during the day, and that there is always someone in there playing with the dogs and keeping an eye on them. It’s great to know he is well cared for while I’m at work!
The owner, Roman, made it a point to get to know us and even recommended vets since we are new to the area. The staff has been wonderful and have caught on to my dogs quirks (he needs a small nap in the middle of the day to re-​energize!).
Whenever I ask Sidney ‘Do you want to go to camp?’, his ears perk up and he gets so excited.
Honestly this is a wonderful facility where you can feel completely assured that your dog is receiving a ton of love and attention while you’re away. We highly recommend!

I can’t say enough about Camp Bow Wow! The staff loves every dog that comes there! When I first started taking Zoey there she was a bit skiddish, pulling the leash out the door when we got there but I was assured she would be fine. Now a few months later, all I have to say to her is «Wanna go to camp»? & she pulls me towards the door! She loves it! When we walk in whoever is at the desk knows her name. I trust my dog with Roman & his staff, they really take great care of these dogs so you never have to worry!

I started bringing my dog, a half pit/​half black lab to Camp Bow Wow in September when she was one year old. She absolutely loves this place, she plays all day and comes home exhausted but happy. I love this place too-it’s clean and the staff is very friendly and very accommodating. I had one occasion where I had to her overnight for boarding — all went without a hitch. Would recommend this place in a heartbeat!

I have taken my puppy Cassius here for a few months now and he absolutely loves it and all the staff genuinely loves him too! The best part about Camp Bow Wow is the outside play area which all pups have access to if they don’t want to be inside. The webcams are a plus, I can have easy access through an app all day when he’s at camp. I can always rest assured that he’ll come home and sleep ALL NIGHT! As a vet tech, I was also pleasantly surprised when I was called and told he was bleeding from one of his ears (from playing with other pups and being a silly butt) and that the staff had already stopped the bleeding and that he was okay. Highly recommend Camp Bow Wow :)

Best boarding place!
I have been using Camp Bow wow for several years now. When they see Tucker coming they all say hello. I can’t say enough about how well Roman and his staff treat my dog and others. The place is safe and clean. Most of the staff has been there for a long time, which you really don’t see that often. They always are sure to keep me aware of any small issues (if any).
I recently moved further away (not Maryland not sure why Unilocal says that) and still take him back to these guys, because they make me feel comfortable. the grooming service is elite compared to other places too.
Don’t go elsewhere. As for the review about being on hold. At times businesses get busy, which means they are in demand. Give them another chance.
PS– Tuckers always whooped after hanging there too.

My dog willow loves going to camp. She burns all her energy playing with the other dogs. When she gets in the car she falls right to sleep. A+ staff

I take my doggie here once a week and he absolutely loves it. The staff knows him and takes excellent care of him. They’re the only place I trust to leave him when I go away (next to my parents). It gets pricey but it’s well worth it! 4 Paws.

My black lab mix loves going to Camp Bow Wow. The staff at this location is very nice and attentive. Every time my dog comes (even if we don’t come for 1 – 2 months) they still know her name when we walk in. Place is very clean and they have live cameras in all the rooms. I would highly recommend to anyone.

What’s there not to like?! You take time out for my dog to make sure she enjoys her time there everyday. Roxy loves going there and can’t wait to go every morning. She waits by the door until we leave. And your dog will come home exhausted and sleep thru the night.

Leaving for a week without your pet is a difficult task. You start to look for a place where you know your dog will be treated right, fed well, and given proper exercise. That is a challenge. After visiting various locations, we made our decision to leave our 2 year old lab at Camp Bow Bow. From his initial visit, we knew this would be a great place for him. He quickly joined the group of dogs and he was surrounded by animal lovers such as Anthony & Nicole. When we picked him up, he was clean and very playful. Thank you! We have found a great place for our dog.

From the moment you enter Camp Bow Wow, a friendly, upbeat, attentive staff greets you. They really care for all of the dogs and know each and every camper by name. They are true animal lovers, which is apparent by how the dogs respond to each one of them.
The dogs play in the back portion of the facility so that they are afforded privacy. They have web cameras so you can check in on your pup and make sure he’s happy and well attended to! The dogs are divided into small, medium, and/​or large groups so that all of the dogs are in comfortable, non-​intimidating environments. Each room has an attendee, who plays and watches the dogs to make sure they are safe and playing friendly. When you miss your dog or just want to check-​in, you just log on to the web cam and watch him playing with the others! This is certainly a comfort for worrying parents.
The overnight dens are quite spacious and are equipped with a bed and blanket for each camper. Of course, you can always bring your pups favorite bed, blanket and toys from home. The staff knows exactly what the instructions/​feeding schedules are for each camper and they are followed every time. The entire facility is extremely clean. They even power wash, with eco friendly soap, the outdoor areas every morning and night.
The owner, Roman is fantastic, approachable and all about customer service. He really takes the time to get to know each and every dog and owner so that you are greeted by face and name. Every concern or question is addressed in a timely manner and handled with the utmost care. He/​they have more stringent vaccination requirements than other daycares, which is good because you worry less about your dog getting sick.
I’ve not only found a great place for my dog, I’ve also have found peace of mind for myself. That says a lot coming from an overprotective doggie mommy. I would highly recommend this facility to every dog parent.

I’m proud to share my thoughts on Camp Bow Wow Elmwood Park with whoever may read them. I have trusted Roman and the Camp Bow Wow Elmwood Park family with my boxer, Laila for the last three years. I have never taken her anywhere else. Roman offers tips/​advice on anything/​everything related to dogs. All I need to tell you about my level of satisfaction is that I drive all the way from Edgewater NJ to bring Laila to Camp Bow Wow. I was filling out the paperwork to give a closer «dog daycare» a try (it’s only 2 miles from my condo) but when I saw a dog handler jab another dog in the neck with two fingers forcefully and repeatedly I immediately walked out. Camp Bow Wow Elmwood Park is the best. They’ve earned my trust and will continue to have my loyalty.

just don’t do… went away on vacation and when we came back my dog was never the same… He’s NEVERRRR EVER had any problems with any dogs until the day we picked him up. Our trainer actually said that he constantly gets clients who’s dogs come from camp bow wow who never had problems and come out with dog aggression problems. Worst mistake we ever made. Just don’t do it (my trainer got 3 more dogs the past couple weeks from camp bow wow that come out with issues with other dogs)

I wish I could give this place 0 stars. We had an interview for our dog at 12 and they made us wait till 12:40. Our dog just seemed stressed out because they had a us trapped in a room with him when he could hear all the other dogs having fun and he wanted to play. As soon as they brought him in the other room a bulldog growled at him and he growled back like any normal dog. Right away they said NO. This place is a joke. Our dog goes to 2 other daycares in NYC and he is fine and one of their favorite dogs. Staff is rude as hell. What a shithole

Camp Bow Wow, «‘Where a dog can be a dog’. Your pups will get to socialize and play all day.»…unless that dog has any relation to a Pitbull.
It’s pretty disgraceful that a pet daycare center, which prides itself on caring for dogs, will continue to keep up the sadly untrue stereotype surrounding the Pitbull breed.
My experience with Camp Bow Wow was short and sweet. I called to make a reservation for boarding, and was informed that the dog had to come in for an interview and some sample playtime. Pretty standard practice and makes sense. My puppy gets along super well with dogs and people, so I saw no issue. The appointment was scheduled, and I was happy to have a nice place for my dog to go.
Fast forward about 30 minutes, I get a call back saying that they have to cancel the reservation because my dog is a Pit mix. They wouldn’t even go through the interview process to see what mix my dog actually is, and/​or how well she gets along with the other dogs. I got a flat out, no.
They (and their website) claim that this is due to insurance reasons. Considering that this place already costs far more than nearly every other competitor in the area, I’m calling BS on this. If they’re charging as much as they are, they can afford better insurance.
Thankfully, there *are* many other competitors in the area, so I don’t need to fight this terrible place to take my money.
In the end, I’m sure that some dogs will find this place nice, but if Camp Bow Wow is cutting corners on an entire breed of dogs just to save a little cash, what else will they do? There are far too many places out there, those willing to take and care for ALL dogs, to waste time on Camp Bow Wow.

CAMP BOW WOW IS THE BEST!
We’ve been coming for a couple of years, but this is our first review. Our dog, Duggan, starts getting excited the minute we put his special Camp Bow Wow collar on. When we get there, he hops out of the car and rushes in the door as soon as it opens. He especially loves Jocelyn (a «counselor»), but whoever opens the gate, Duggan is in! He doesn’t say goodbye. He doesn’t look back at us.
The same is true for boarding. I assume he’s had a good time, because he doesn’t miss a meal and he comes back brushed and happy and tired. What a change that is from our previous dog daycare, which shall remain unnamed.
Not to overdo this, but the owner, Roman, and the staff are consistently helpful and clearly love their dog charges.
I trust our beloved dog to Roman and I couldn’t recommend them more to other dog «parents» who need their creatures in order to go to work or vacation — or just need a break. :-)
