The ambiance of this establishment was reminiscent of a trailer park or maybe high class truck stop. I seriously can’t believe this place has such great reviews! When I went there, the food was terrible. My hash browns were stale and dry (not crispy). When my order came to me missing the cheese that I had ordered, my waitress told me that it was there??? The guy at the counter knocked a few bucks off of our order because I was clearly dissatisfied (hence the second star on the review) but it hardly makes up being spoken to like an idiot by the waitress who looked like she had been huffing paint for 30 years. Skids? More like skid’s row… I should have just gone to Denny’s. At least there I know what to expect.

A very quaint breakfast spot. Typical diner menu items, but well prepared. Very friendly service, too. We would love to come back for lunch sometime. They clearly have regulars, which is always a good thing.
Highly recommended if you’re looking for a good breakfast.

So glad we stumbled across the gem. Near the Elon campus it offers tasty breakfast lunch and dinner for super cheap. Went for breakfast and got 2 eggs, sausage, toast and hash browns for $ 4.75. Lunch and dinner options look decent too at a great price. They always have a daily breakfast and dinner specials Monday-​Friday. Also was surprised that they serve beer! Wait staff is very attentive and food comes out quick. Must stop in while at Elon!

On my first day of employment at Elon University, my coworkers took me to Skid’s and I will definitely go back for future breakfasts! Glenda, who works there, is a hoot — we loved her enthusiasm so much!
The menu has a good variety but is not too overwhelming, and I was torn between the biscuits and gravy or egg and cheese on a biscuit…
The egg and cheese on a biscuit won me over. I am a Chick-​fil-​a biscuit lover, well a lover of all biscuits, and this breakfast sandwich was one of the best I have ever had! I also ordered a side of home fries, which I would not order again.
Their prices are affordable too! Go have breakfast at Skid’s!

Great place to get cheap, but quality food fast.
I try to go there before class starts whenever I can for breakfast. The waitresses are always attentive and food comes out super fast. Portions are large for example my regular breakfast usually comes with more food than I can finish and I only end up spending $ 5 or $ 6. Coffee comes with free refills.
I only wish they would be open on Sundays because its a great place to go after a night of drinking.
