Great fried chicken, okra, creamed corn(and I’m not even a fan of creamed corn!) !! Add on some chocolate pudding, coconut cream pie and bread pudding, sweet tea or ½ and ½ … You’ll be all set plus need a nap afterwards :-) We were a big group, honest I didn’t eat all the desserts myself. Bear in mind this is a real downhome place, been around since 19? so not much to look at, not a date place, depending on your gal. Returned for breakfast, biggest decision: Country or City Ham?! I skipped both, recommend skipping the pancakes, kinda dry and stodgy. Good eggs and great biscuits.

Great food, great people, great prices. It’s a bit out of the way but a great place for country cooking. Just a simple place in the country. I drove up weekly when I lived in Acworth. Now I try to get by there when I’m in the vicinity.

We were so looking forward to eating here, but despite the«open» shown on Unilocal,it is closed. It’s Saturday, Dec. 26 at 11:50.

Doug’s Place is awesome. I was in the area visiting with family for Christmas and ended up coming here to eat two days in a row. The food was exceptional both times and I can’t wait to go back.

Decent food, variety and great prices. Been going for years and it’s always consistent. Ask for April, she’s awesome!

Love Doug’s Place. This is the real deal when it comes to home cooking. I have never been there and had a bad meal or service, and we’ve been dining there for many years. There are always enough selections on their menu to require me to flip a coin on my decision. As I tell my friends, «It’s like going back to a previous time». Always awesome!

Very friendly staff with southern food that’s affordable. The grilled chicken is delicious and really enjoyed the green beans. Lots of options makes it hard to choose.

This rating change is due to the change in the restaurant’s new hours. We don’t know if it’s permanent, but it makes our visits quite impossible for the most part. They are now scratched off our go to list as far as late lunch or early dinner, as they close on some days at 3 pm. Sad.

This place use to be so good, it’s a meat and veg place. Staff is always pretty nice but the homecooking is not as good as it use to be. Not a biggie but last time they didn’t have fried chicken just chicken fingers. Felt like I was eating a kids meal but hey it was nice to see hominy on the menu

This is a really old store that became a restaurant and grill, they have breakfast lunch and dinner. We love the ribs, 1 – 2 times a week on the menu.

If you’re in Georgia and looking for some tasty southern food with some serious flavor this is the place to visit. GREAT hole in the wall, down home cooking. High reviews with the locals so we went to try it out! The catfish was killer and the chicken amazing as well. You have to try the squash casserole and the greens… Yum! Very friendly staff and great service!

Love this place! Great country food, food always comes out fast, the employees are always friendly! One of my favorite places to go. If you’re looking for some good home cooked food I definitely recommend it. Oh and the prices are cheap too.

Very simple dining. I had chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and another vegetables. Good food for a great price! They also hand make their pies which are delicious. Good customer service. Will probably be back again.

I understand the charm of an old church southern place… but OMG everything in this place is fried brown in the same gross grease. I am over weight and I am considered skinny when here. My husband likes the fried chicken livers… I think everything is bad.

This is hands down the best«country cooking» type restaurant I’ve ever been to. The rotating menu means you might not find what you ate last time, but you will find something excellent. We finally had to ask — the meat loaf comes on Thursdays. Fried chicken is pretty much always an option. Burgers and fries are available, but please get yourself some quality vegetables. Collards and turnip greens are great but the sweet creamed corn is better than you’ve had before. If they have the banana pudding, get it. Price is under $ 9/plate for most meals.

Great home style Southern cooking! After time on the road with fast food, we were craving vegetables, and this local mom and pop type place delivered. We only wish we were not too full for the homemade chocolate or coconut pie, or banana pudding. Credit cards — yes, which surprised us Atmosphere — down home kind of place. Don’t come here if you expect China, crystal and chairs that match or fancy design stuff …

Dougs has ambience all is own, and great consistent home style Meat And Two gravitas. Things like fried chicken livers, stewed turnips, and a meat portion that will scare your cardiologist. Fun, good and reasonable prices. The wait staff makes Elle Mae look bad

One of the finest vegetable plates in one of the most memorable locations I’ve ever had the privilege to consume. I had sampled catering from Doug’s Place several years ago that was so good, I immediately bookmarked the spot on Unilocal with the intentions to try them out in person. As the saying goes, better late than never, because this spot is good. It reminds me in many ways of Carvers Country Kitchen, the now sadly closed Southern cooking meat and three that used to be on Marietta Street in Atlanta. The portions are a touch smaller than Carvers, which is not to say they are small portions, but just that you won’t be feeding a family of four from them for two days. The gravel parking lot is pot hole filled and the building itself looks like it might just fall down around you while you’re eating. Thankfully, today it held together for us to eat one of the most delicious Soul food lunches I’ve had in some time. You sit where you like, peruse one of the daily menus at the table, place your order and are served by a waitress, and pay at the counter as you leave. Though I’ve stolen bites of the entrée items here, the sides are the way to go. Even better, a three veggie + bread plate will only set you back $ 5 including tax. Every menu item I’ve sampled, I would happily order again. They are: Squash Casserole: Approximately equal parts cheese, ritz cracker crumbs, and squash, it still manages to be incredibly light and fluffy. I love squash casserole, and this is my new favorite version. Sweet Potato Soufflé: More casserole than soufflé-like with a brown sugar topping, this version is not overly sweet like many Southern places, so you can actually taste the sweet potato. Solid. Fresh Collards: you can tell these are FRESH. Perfectly salted, not overcooked but cooked through, some of the best I’ve had. Parmesan Fried Squash: Long, thin slices of yellow summer squash lightly breaded in a parmesan crust. Yum. Fried Okra: I love fried okra. It is possible my favorite Southern side dish. It is incredibly rare to find a place that actually hand breads their okra these days; most places get it frozen and pre-breaded. Not here– the same delicious breading on their other goods is used on these delicious okra slices. Cornbread: Obviously homemade white cornmeal bread. Goes perfectly with the collards. Overall, Doug’s place is a legitimate hole-in-the-wall gem. It’s not fine dining by any means, but for what it is, it is as good as it gets.

Yummy southern food. Love the collards and green beans. The fried chicken is so much better than most. The dressing and chicken was not so much but u can’t win them all. The service is super friendly too. I so wish I had found out about this place before leaving the area in a week. You can’t beat the price, either P. s. The banana pudding is made the southern way with perfectly ripe bananas. Loved it!
