Helpful guy, good selection of glasses, I can’t believe other people had such rotten experiences. We walked in 20 minutes or so before close, you know, when sales people are always at their most helpful(/sarcasm), and they guy working was quick to assist. I was having trouble with some Maui Jim’s I got from a work event and wanted to see if they could help out(we were headed to Sunglass Hut, I admit, but we ended up parked here, and when I saw the Maui Jim logo, we headed in). He was actually very helpful, even though MJ discontinued this style, so I’m SOL, but hey, whatever. The Domestic Partner was owed some birthday sunnies before our trip to Hawaii, and while we initially went straight for the Ray Bans he had tried on at another shop and we liked, we ended up not liking them so much this time around. Sun Shade Guy asked questions to understand what he did and didn’t like about the pair, and then took him around the store trying on a couple of pairs, narrowing down what he was into, until he knew just the thing.. .. a pair of Spy shades that were in fact, PERFECT. As the boys did their thing, I ogled the designer shades with a wistful sigh, assuming they were all out of my budget. I couldn’t tear my eyes away from a pair of D&Gs and seeing me swooning, Sun Shade Guy opened the case and BAM, I was sold, just like that. They were perfect, and I didn’t even have to mortgage my house to afford them.

One star is one too many for Sunshades(Bay Street in Emeryville). This is the worst retail store I’ve visited in the Bay Area. Their salesperson lied directly to my face about their return policy then claimed she did not remember me when I tried to return the purchase two days later. When the cheap complimentary case they provided for my $ 200 sunglasses broke and I asked for a replacement they said no problem. That’ll be $ 25. I guess they’re not too concerned with getting repeat business. That works for me. I will never spend a penny at Sunshades again.

I’ve bought my Carrera and Rayban shades here. Nice selection and reasonable prices. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

This Store had a fairly large selection. Unlike Sunglass Hut, they carry most brands everything from Spy to Gucci, and most styles. What I didn’t like is that they only have one of each pair. So you end up buying the floor model. We asked for a discount, and they gave us 10% off. That was fine with me. The sales woman was very helpful in pointing out similar glasses, once she learned what I was looking for, and I ended up purchasing a nice pair of sunglasses. I only purchase sunglasses about once every 2 years, so next time I’m in the market for some, i’ll probably be back.

I’ll make a long story short, I came here with a friend to look at some sunglasses. Although, the Girl was very helpful and attentive. The management was not. I went in with a friend who purchased glasses there 2 months ago, and he needed a new«cleaner thing» those little wipes. The manager(I forget her name) gave my friend a weird look, as if he was lying. She then opened up the drawer at the register, and I saw dozens of these little wiper things and she quickly closed it back up and said, «sorry, do you have your receipt?» My friends reaction was priceless, but he simply said, «it’s ok, I’ll find some tissue then» It was funny, because after reading a few of the reviews below, I can see what some are referring to. ehh. I would not recommend this place.

The girls here are truly helpful and are not pushy. If you want to go somewhere where you know what style you want or don’t know and need suggestions, they’re very knowledgeable.
