The beach community called Leucadia sits perched above the pacific ocean on the northern border of Encinitas, a quintessential beach town. Cafes, art galleries, surf stores, Pilates and Yoga studios, boutiques and spas line the west side of Highway 101 through Leucadia. The railroad tracks on the East side of the street prevent businesses from opening there and the land is open and rustic. A «Keep Leucadia Funky» campaign thrives here with the goal of preserving the old school charm of the community. We like the eclectic mix of art and culture and shun big business. Some may call this area blighted, but we embrace and decorate what we already have, trends come back around. There is even a new saying«Keep Leucadia Trendy»! We do not follow the trends, we set them! The name Leucadia, a Greek word that literally means«Place of Refuge» came from spiritual English settlers who fell in love with the cool ocean breezes and flowers. The Greek influence remains with streets named after Greek gods and flowers. I love this beach side community and am glad to share the rich history on Unilocal
