Encinitas Coin & Jewelry is local, family owned, friendly, and accurate in their buying of precious metals from me. In my business I have items of precious metals to liquidate for my clients. When they ask how much did the items sell for and who did we sell them to, I’m happy to refer them to this established and reputable business in our community. Thanks for your service, Encinitas Coin & Jewelry!

Vicky and her family are the greatest resource anyone could ask for in the realm of metals and jewelry. They are honest, friendly, informative, and have kept their integrity through the whole gold boom where almost everyone else gave in to greed and raised prices. Encinitas coin and jewelry is still the best price around — I have compared heavily all the way North through LA. They go the extra mile for their customers. Not many ma and pa stores left around like this — and they have kept it in the family for generations. You wont be disappointed going with them. Ever.

I have been coming here for many years and always found unusual silver pieces and had great service, with the original owners. I am not sure if they’ve been bought by someone else but they always have these young kids in there now. I don’t mean to «judge a book by its cover» but they wear band t-shirts, tattoos, etc. When I am turning in gold and silver I want to feel that I am dealing with people that are honest and knowledgeable. I recently turned some jewelry in and they didn’t even give me a receipt. If you buy a gold chain and its $ 160 because its 18K you should feel confident that is what you are getting… I went back the next day and got a receipt showing 14K :( Although they still have some cool stuff in there I probably wont be back because I just don’t trust them. Here’s a tip: check the price of gold and silver before walking in there, make sure you see what the scale says, and make sure it’s ALL on the receipt.

I came in to buy 3 Silver Eagle coins I was charged for four. I guess it’s my fault for not double checking. But I think these people lack of integrity. I was also charged $ 5.50 over spot price for a Silver Eagle coin. Absolutely ridiculous

I came here because of all the excellent Unilocal reviews; I had some unexpected bills and decided to part with some jewelry instead of looking for a loan. I took in a few different pieces. The owner, who is mentioned positively in all the other reviews, was not there. Some derpy looking skater kid was there and while I was watching him make change for the customer in front of me, he got the change incorrect 3 times and then laughed about his«brain fart.» I wasn’t super confident in this guy’s expertise, but I had driven all the way there and the place had great reviews, so hey whatever. I had 5 rings, a bracelet, and 2 necklaces to sell. They started off by telling me they don’t buy pearls, so one of the necklaces was out and the other one they cut apart to just buy the gold out of it. After cutting it apart they offered me $ 20 less for the gold than he said it would be… what was I going to do at that point? Leave with my cut up broken necklace that no one else would buy now? Then they offered me $ 30 for my engagement ring that had a 1⁄3 ct diamond solitaire in it. I was like WTF and the guy said it wasn’t a real diamond. At this point I sorely regretted admitting I was not a jewelry expert, because now I KNEW he was trying to rip me off… turns out he didn’t know I had the original paperwork on that ring and I had been present for purchasing it from the jewelry store 10 years prior… I KNEW it was real! In the face of my paperwork he then tested it and said ok it’s a diamond but it’s a bad quality diamond and it’s not worth anything so he can only buy the gold out of it for $ 30…of course this time he didn’t take it apart and offer to give me my «worthless» diamond out of it. CROOKS! These guys are crooks. He also said my channel set diamond ring in white gold wasn’t real diamonds and it was too(bought at Zales in 2010). I ended up leaving with $ 100 for 2 good bands and my cut up Pearl necklace. I kept the two bigger diamond rings and the bracelet. I totally got ripped off and would have been more so if I hadn’t known that the diamonds were real and had paperwork to prove it. He went so far as to say gold and diamond values have gone down so that’s why I could only get $ 30 for something I had paid $ 549 for in 2004. Really? Pretty sure gold prices have gone up, joker. Maybe the owner is good but his employees sure aren’t. Avoid!

Micheal was awesome. I went there to sell a few simple pieces and I did not even hesitate when he gave me the value of them. I will only come here again if I need to sell anything else in the future. Also, this place is not all about the sell; there were so many beautiful pieces in the shop for a very reasonable price. I will be back here again to do some shopping of my own.

Michael is so honest. We had taken things to other places and his prices for buying were way better! We got $ 1200 for a little handful of gold. Definitely recommend him. His employee was very helpful as well. His items for sale were also very nice.

This place is amazing — I have had an abundance of silver — beads, findings, jewelry that I have taken there to sell. They have always been incredibly nice and professional and definitely give you top dollar for your stuff. Definitely the best place to go to sell silver and gold — hopefully one of these days I’ll be able to buy some stuff too.

I came to Encinitas Coin & Jewelry to sell some old gold jewelry. I called a few places around San Diego County who claimed to buy gold and asked what percentage of the melt value they paid(knowing that no jewelry store is actually going to pay 100% of the melt value because they have to make money on the transaction too). A lot of the places I called(who were likely unprepared for such a question) either gave me the«run-around» or over-the-phone quotes that were contingent upon the amount of pieces brought in or something else… Michael at Encinitas Coin & Jewelry was very straight forward and honest when I called and gave me the percentage of gold’s melt value that he was willing to pay — and this was the primary reason I chose to sell my gold to Encinitas Coin & Jewelry. I went to his shop, showed him my old gold, he adhered to his previously stated percentage, so I sold my old gold to him and feel great about the transaction! I tried to do some homework of my own by weighing my gold and calculating for 14k(the gold that I was bringing in) and his numbers matched what I was expecting — thus indicating his honesty. Since the transaction went so pleasantly smooth I ended up using some of the money I got to pick up a pair of diamond earrings for my wife from his store. All in all, my experience with Encinitas Coin & Jewelry was a pleasant one and I found Michael to be incredibly honest throughout the transaction. Encinitas Coin & Jewelry is also a small local business(been in business for over 32 years), so it also felt great to support a local business run by the proprietor.

I did a quick survey when I needed to sell some gold for medical bills and started at the Jewelry store in Oceanside and worked my way down to Encinitas. Hit 6 different places and got lots of different low ball prices after I left Oceanside but Michael matched the Jewelry store price and at the cost of gas I did business with him. Only those two guys were high enough to get my attention. I have gone back 5 times and he is great. He loves what he does and will work with you for a fair price. Buy or sell he is my guy for coins and gold.

I have been buying from here for 3 years now and feel so very good about it. I didn’t know a thing about silver/coins and Michael was patient and honest. I will be a loyal customer as long as he is in business.

Michael is THE most honest person I have ever dealt with. I found him completely by accident and would drive the 30 or so miles from my house to do business with him. I am definitely far beyond impressed.
