I really love the family atmosphere here. I work next door in the automotive complex and get a gyro plate here once a month. It is wonderful. The owners are excellent people who take pride in their food. The servings are not big by Obese american standards, but the quality is unmatched. The only thing I would change is if I could get some grape leaves or hummus as a half order. But, yeah the place is brilliant, lovely people. I will always keep coming back!

Love this restaurant! The owner greets you like family. The food is delicious. I had the roasted chicken, so moist and tender. My husband had the lamb and said it was delicious as well. The service is wonderful and the coffee… just the way you like it. This was our second visit and we were not disappointed. It’s a great local place and I know we will be back again very soon!

Food is great, tastes fresh and yummy, but there was very slow service on a recent Friday evening. We waited an hour for our meal, had to repeatedly ask for bread, didn’t even get water to tide us over. The staff were apologetic and sweet but the kitchen was clearly overwhelmed by their popularity.

Been coming here for almost 10 years, the food is always fresh and delicious. It is a family owned and operated restaurant and the atmosphere and service cannot be beat. Definitely try it out, you’ll be hooked!

Mind. Blown. That baklava crumble ice cream dessert! I can’t even type right now. It’s distracting me from feeding my face with more more more!

Took Greek friends here, and they were so disappointed. The moussaka had eggplants that were overcooked, and the Greek salad had lettuce. Um… Greek salad isn’t supposed to have lettuce. The food tasted like it had been warmed up and then served to us straight out of a microwave. Two of us ened up with a bill of nearly $ 70, stomachs empty, plates nearly untouched, and pockets empty. No ‘Opa!’ for this place. Gave it two stars for the cozy décor.

Delicious food. Authentic greek menu you don’t see at other places. Friendly service from the owner who waited on us. Great little spot for dinner. Warm, Greek themed décor.

Greek American Family Restaurant offers the best Greek food that I have had. I have catered several lunches for work and the luch is always a big hit when I order from Greek American Family Restaurant. The food is fresh, has great flavor and the staff are very helpfull! I would highly recommend this restaurant!

Nice homey feeling and great flavor food, but the portions are pretty small. You only get 1 kalamata olive and a pinch of feta in your plate. A little stingy I thought…

So, um… I just ate the most expensive chicken kebab I’ve ever eaten. It was good, don’t get me wrong, but not $ 25 good. 5 tiny pieces of chicken, a microscopic salad, a bit of bland rice, a couple mushrooms, and some pita bread for 25 bucks? Holy moly! I had a side of lamb for an extra 10 bucks which brought the total after tip to $ 40!!! $ 40 for one person!!! I can get that at any Greek restaurant for well under 20 bucks. Less than half that price. Outrageous!!!

What a great find! So unexpected from the outside, but you go in, and you immediately know you are in a legit Greek establishment. Owner greeted us right away and informed us they have been there for 24 years. The chef, her husband is 100% Greek and they use recipes from their parents. I started with the avgolemeno soup, and it was AMAZING! So delicious, and I was told it was made from scratch, in house. It is so delicious. My husband and I devoured it. For entrees I got the gyro sandwich. The meat is absolutely tender, and the flavor is epic. I went to Greece several years back, and this is the first time I was able to taste the same flavors as I did back there. The portion size was perfect, I wasn’t uncomfortable after eating, but definitely full. I ordered extra tzatziki sauce, which is also their own recipe. The sauce is a delicious addition, I ended up eating it straight from the cup when I was done… Yummmmm:) my husband got the gyro burrito, he wanted try something a little different. He was not disappointed! The gyro meat, spices and tzatziki really makes this a must try!!! We will be back for the dinner experience very soon!

What a nice treat, stumbling upon this hidden treasure. Driving in the area looking for a new restaurant for us to try, Unilocal provided a great resource. Rita immediately greeted us as we walked in the door and seated us to our table. After introducing herself and asking if we’d been there before, she offered a few selections. We decided each to get a cup of Greek coffee(pen iced and one regular) as well as the gyro plates. Well prepared, high in flavor and just the right portion size to fill us each up. Highly recommended. Looks like we’ve found our new go-to Greek place!

This is a cute hidden little restaurant right across the street from big lots. As soon as I arrived the hostess was very nice and knew I was there to pick up my lunch for work. My co worker and I both ordered a gyro plate to go. I got it with fries and she got it with pilaf rice. I like that they separated the sauces into little containers so the salad doesn’t get soggy and it’s not all over the place. I think I got a good amount of fries; co worker seemed to push the rice aside and commented that there was a bit too much. The gyro was nice and not greasy but I feel like I’ve had better. I kind of I wish it had a smidge more seasoning. And the pita bread was just ok. It was kind of hard chewy instead of that fresh out of the oven taste I was hoping for with other Greek places I’ve eaten at. Overall the place was ok. It satisfied my cravings but didn’t blow me away.

Came here on a whim and was pretty impressed with their food. Their waitresses are pretty friendly for the most part. However, the food took awhile to come out and I had politely asked one of the waitresses when the food would be out and another waitress made a remark about how their food is fresh and that I should have ordered something with a soup or salad so I wouldn’t have had to wait as long. Really? Did I really deserve that remark? My friends ordered items with a soup or salad and honestly, it was quite a long wait for them too. They also have pita bread for you to munch on while you wait, but we devoured though pretty quickly. You can order from the kid’s menu even if you’re not a kid and their portions are decently sized. I ordered a gyro from the kid’s menu and was pleasantly full. I also had a bit of their dolmadaki, which are essentially stuffed grape leaves. They are delicious. I’d definitely recommend this to people.

I LOVETHISPLACEHANDSDOWN!!! A nice little restaurant set in a small little strip mall in Encinitas, this location serves up the best food for your buck! I love coming during their lunch hour because they have amazing deals! 7.95 for a drink, gyro, and fries… YESPLEASEANDTHANKYOU!!! Their gyros are filled with so much meat, onions and three slices of tomato… JUSTTHEWAYTHAT I LIKEMYGYROS!!! Served with a handmade taziki sauce, and a small container of ketchup, this place hits all my taste buds and sends them into a oral fix and sensation that I can’t explain except with a huge YUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUMMMMMM!!!

Continuing my family’s epic struggle against the horrific destruction caused by a negligent construction company(oh, woe is me), we have trudged our way through Encinitas looking for new venues as we desperately seek to avoid having to eat a continuous flow of greasy, fast food. All of this comes from living in a hotel room with the lack of a working kitchen. Pray for us, my readers. Any-who, across the street from Michael’s, where my girlfriend gets to see everyday on her way home from work, is a small, Greek restaurant that she has always been curious about trying. We finally took our chance and came away very satisfied. First, let me start off where this place really shines… The service here is absolutely incredible. We were taken care of from start to finish by an owner interested not just in making us happy, but also in us as a family. She learned our names, remembered them throughout the meal, returned again and again with samples of stuff for our 9-month old to enjoy, and generally made us feel welcome and wanted. More than just a customer to serve, you know? Can’t really say that about alot of places, even some of the brilliant ones we love and give five stars to. Anyway, as far as the food goes, it really is quite good for greek food. Nothing really goes above and beyond, but its all certainly better than average. Their pita is of particular note, served fresh and warm, with a buttery taste and very light consistency. I went simple and ordered the gyros plate. A little dry, no one ever seems to make shwarma, but it came with more of that delicious pita, and the rice was pretty damn good. Their chicken souvlaki was also pretty good, a little salty, but the sautéed mushrooms that garnished it were top notch. The avgolemono(chicken soup with rice and lemon) was fairly average, but very edible with a good sprinkle of pepper. Not much else to say, better than average food with incredibly outstanding service. Great place to spend an evening and highly recommended. Not in the most convenient of locales, but worth finding and trying when you get the chance.
