The Leucadia Art Walk is a fun tradition in my family dating all the way back from 2015. Great for ages 5 – 11 and 26 – 74.

There is nothing not to like about the art walk. When it first started the offerings were sparce. Now there is something for everyone. Some of the art I loved and some … well I’ve seen in Old Folks homes. To each their own. But there was some pretty impressive artists and I can’t draw to save my life so who am I to say anything negative. The entertainment was a lot better this year and they expanded the beer gardens to allow more people to hang. Also better selection of beer. Lost Abby? Yay. And they didn’t price gouge you like some fairs tend to do. The entire vibe was loose and cool. Perfect for a Sunday afternoon in Leucadia.

First year of this was lame. It lasted about 10 minutes. I didn’t go again until this last weekend and was pleasantly surprised. Much better now. Lots and lots of… art? I don’t know what to call it. They call it art but it’s mostly gimmick art. That’s what I call it anyway. The kind of art you like but doesn’t really make a stand in true art form. You know, originality, artistic expression? I’ve seen real art. This stuff is entertaining. Makes you go, Oh that’s cool how they took a photograph and painted colors over some of it or put a cool old wood frame around it. Seems more crafty that artistic. This stuff would look great in a bathroom, a hotel room or doctors office but… oh I’m sorry… what the hell do I know about art? Maybe art is more like that saying about a good wine. You know the one? «A good wine is a wine you like». I suppose it’s in the eyes of the beholder. I wasn’t beholding this as good art but all in all it was a good day and had good live music in the beer garden. These artists mass produce their crafts to create cash flow and mold their creations into crowd pleasing fast moving sales. Everybody’s got to make a living I guess. It’s fair game. I shouldn’t knock it. I’m not an artist. The art walk is a good time and reminds me of the early years when Fiesta Del Sol in Solana Beach were more like this. Lots of people enjoying themselves in the beach community sunshine listening to live music and buying some crap.

Adrienne Nims! Wow! Fantastic! Amazing Jazzzz in Funky Leucadia! Hey there Fred Caldwell and Karris and all you other great Leucadians, thank you for bringing in such incredible musical talent, like Adrienne Nims! And it was genius for the Art Walk to keep the traffic lanes open, while having the LOCAL Artists and Personalities performing and showing off their wares in the classic laid back Leucadia style(remember the old Leucadia flea market, Noa’s Ark and Statue of Liberty?). Thank you Leucadia Art Walk! We had such a great time with the generations of kids and grand kids enjoying the sights and sounds of the real Leucadia, as it should be. Kudos! and more Kudos to you. Kind Regards to all, Mark!

Arts and crafts, cool live music, and great food! A really fun time in the North County-that’s the Leucadia Art Walk. Also something to look forward to when the Dog Days of Summer roll around. Late August is when ArtWalk gears up. Leucadia ArtWalk takes place along about two miles of scenic Hwy 101 at various locations in downtown Leucadia. You’ll find art vendor booths, and sometimes a live music or dance venue by a local band. Leucadia ArtWalk doesn’t forget about the kiddies either, featuring a children’s activities wearable art fashion show, art demonstrations, and a raffle for prizes. The street fair is a few blocks from Beacons Beach in Leucadia. The ArtWalk website says that the«artists will be displaying their art on the west side of Hwy 101 between Marcheta and W. Glaucus Streets.» For thirsty art-lovers, there is a Wine & Beer & Wine Garden(21+ up) Also to help with traffic congestion in the area, ride the free Double-Decker Shuttle Bus. Park free at the Encinitas Civic Center and Coaster Station, both located on Vulcan Ave. at D. Street,(near where the Surfing Madonna was once located.) Coincidentally, it has just been confirmed this week that Surfing Madonna artist Mark Patterson will be part of the ArtWalk and will have a portion of the mosaic on display at the event!
