Honest & straight to the point. … the BEST damn lobster roll & bisque, I’ve ever eaten! $ 16.95 the Lobsters very fresh and in big chunks and seasoned perfect. For $ 7.00 more they’ll add more lobster… but in my opinion it’s perfect as is. The ‘Connecticut ’ style is to die for. The bisque $ 6.50 was creamy and so damn delicious! If you’re in the area and even contemplating coming here… DO!!! You’re going to love their food! Clam chowder was delicious for $ 5.50. They offer a Scoop of Soup at amazing prices if you’re looking to sample a variety of flavors. The Whoopie Pie $ 3.00 is huge. I recommend sharing it between 2 – 3, because it’s sweet and I personally can only take so much. $ 5.50 Coconut cake is average. Nothing I would rave about. The restaurant is very clean & cute. It’s located in a cute shopping center. Very friendly staff members. I HIGHLYRECOMMENDTHEM!

im from rhode island, lived there 30+ years and go back a couple times a year for the seafood, lobster included. this place doesn’t really compare, but it’s a decent substitute. my fiancé and i both got lobster rolls, a cup of chowder, and whoopie pie. i detected a funny taste from the buttered roll, not sure if it was a chemical in the butter or something from the grill. the lobster was a bit chewy and didn’t have that sweetness you get from maine lobster or soft shell type lobsters you get in new england. the chowder was pretty good. i will say, if you’re a fan of whoopie pies, this place has the best one ive ever had.

Amazing food and service. A little pricey but what can you expect it’s lobster. My favorite is the lobster roll Connecticut style(warm). Lots of fresh lobster and the bread is toasted perfectly. I also like their clam chowder(if they put more clams in it would be perfect). As for service, A+!! Michael always greets us with a smile and is super friendly. We enjoy our visits at lobster west because of him, and of course the lobster. I’m a definite regular when I need a lobster fix. I’ll be back :) Update: had the pleasure of meeting the owners of lobster west. Kim is absolutely amazing!!! The lobster rolls are still amazing!!! Also, tried the lobster bisque which was creamy and full of flavor. Love this place! Thanks Kim, Chad and Michael for always providing epic customer service. LuvLuv :)

This was interesting. My party ordered 4 rolls, 3 of the soups, and the crab cake salad. The lobster rolls were okay but they tend to be on the rich and heavy side. They use bay shrimp for the shrimp roll and the crab roll and crab cake was quite fishy. The best thing was the clam chowder. Maybe we were there on an off day, but I’ll give it another try when I’m in the area.

One of my fave places. Great lobstah rolls, festive music, cheerful customer service. Best news — they recently opened a location in Coronado! What could be better? Family-owned. Support local businesses like this one.

Small restaurant with yummy Lobster rolls. There isn’t a huuge difference with the Maine(cold meat) and Connecticut(warm meat) style lobster rolls because both are served on their yummy warm toasted rolls. They are both very tasty so you cannot go wrong either way. There is an option to add MORE meat for $ 7 more. Pass on their clam chowder — yuck. Easy parking.

The service is fantastically kind and welcoming. The owner is friendly and sweet. The location is a small lil mom and pop set up that warms your heart. Parking available but limited. Worth your patience. Now the food — fresh, delicious and memorable. Definitely coming back. Definitely! :) Had the scallop roll, shrimp roll, crab roll, and the lobster roll. Yummy! Faves are crab & lobster.

I went here because of the great Unilocal reviews, but am very disappointed. After having Cousin’s Maine Lobster rolls from their trucks several times, I was expecting a similar experience, but I like I just said, I was very disappointed. The food was very bland. The lobster roll had virtually no flavor. It wasn’t dry or anything like that. In fact, the bottom of the roll was kind of soggy(yuck), just no flavor to speak of. The clam chowder was more of the same. If I hadn’t saturated it with pepper, than it might not have had any flavor to it at all. I am from NY and have eaten chowder all over the country, and I know chowder. This is more soupy than«chowdery». Plenty of potatoes, but not much else in there. Thankfully, they gave me oyster crackers. Sorry, I wanted to like this place, I really did, but I can’t. The guy at the counter told me that they are opening up another location in Coronado. I hope they do something to spice up their dishes before then. I don’t mind paying for good quality food, but food with no flavor is not acceptable to me. The service was fine, everyone was very nice and helpful as this was my first visit… just subpar food. I would be willing to pay more(even though it’s not cheap) if it had more flavor, spices, butter, something. Don’t think I’ll be back here. Now, go get yourselves a roll from Cousin’s Maine Lobster and fall in love!

I love a good lobster roll and the only good place that I know of is Lobster West. Whenever I’m in the area for lunch I will definitely eat here. The location is pretty small with a few tables inside. The first time I came here I wanted a warm lobster roll which is the Connecticut. I’m glad the employee asked me which one I wanted because I don’t like cold lobster. They have a few drinks so I got a lemonade in a glass bottle. The lobster roll is not huge but for a few dollars more you could get a bigger size. Yes the rolls are pretty expensive but it’s lobster you’re paying for not hot dogs. I will definitely eat here again when I need my lobster fix.

Short review. Since Unilocal doesn’t do half star, this is a 3.5 star visit. The price is expensive to what you get. Husband and I both shared the Lobster roll Maine Style and Crab Roll. Both rolls need an extra umph of flavor and more lobster for the price you’re paying. And we’ve had better tasting ones from Bite of Boston and Supernatural. The bread is crisped to perfection! :] We really enjoyed the Clam chowder though, that was really delicious! Sorry Lobster West, maybe we will give you another shot if we’re in the area.

Absolute must try if you love lobster, crab, shrimp, etc, etc. My husband and I split the«Maine Feast For Two» which is 1 lobster roll, 1 crab roll and 1 shrimp roll. I honestly loved every sandwich and probably could have eaten all 3 by myself. The restaurant was busy when we showed up(we ordered ahead and take out). Fish tasted very fresh and I would definitely make the trip to Encinitas again just to eat here!

Seafood lovers rejoice! Best Lobster rolls on the west coast! They also offer crab, scallop and shrimp rolls with or without mayo. We ordered two Connecticut style(warm) lobster rolls. You can also have it Maine style which is chilled lobster. I chose a side of coleslaw but you have the options of chips or soup. My BF ordered a side of lobster bisque to dip his lobster roll in. I love this place! Best lobster rolls in town. They are pricey but the quality of the food is what you are paying for and its well worth it! Huge chunks of fresh lobster they do not skimp. Lobster bisque is amazing! Creamy so full of flavor it would pair perfectly with the lobster grilled cheese. If you still have room at the end of your meal. They also offer dessert! Woopie Pies?! Yes they do! Customer service is great here. They always check up on you and they are quick. We’re fans of this place!

To be fair, this place is expensive. Be prepared to spend 20 dollars per person. And you won’t be food coma full. Even nowadays that’s pricey for a sandwich place. They ship their seafood in daily from far distances which accounts for the prices reflected. So is it worth it? Especially since I’ve always admitted to be a crab fan over lobster? We had the clam chowder and a lobster roll and maybe they had the advantage of the cold weather but the chowder was like a breath of fresh air in a stifling fog. The lobster roll was served Maine style(with the lobster chilled, as opposed to Connecticut style with it warmed). Since it was small my first bite was deliberate in order to savor it. I wanted to take monstrous hedonistic bites after that. I would have thought that I wanted it Connecticut style but with it chilled just below room temp the lobster had this briney sweetness. The lemon, and the warm buttery roll. It was an exercise in restraint to eat slow. In the end, this place is only going to be a luxury. Still, it provided me with an experience. Works for me. Until we eat again Lobster West!

I hadn’t been here in a while, and while around the area tonight, my best friend suggested going here for dinner. I was more than happy to say yes to this place! I didn’t realize they participate in SD Restaurant Week! Score! for $ 25, I got: — Lobster Bisque — Lobster roll — slice of coconut cake Best friend got: — Lobster grilled cheese — clam chowder I love their bisque here! Everything was delicious!

I finally made my way to Encinitas to try Lobster West. I’ve been wanting to come for a long time now. I love Lobster rolls and will order it every chance I get. The Maine Feast is the best option since you can try the lobster, shrimp, and crab roll. Surprisingly my favorite was the crab roll. All I kept saying was amazing after every bite. The lobster and shrimp rolls were also really good as well. The seasoning was really good on everything. The buttery roll was perfect. I loved every second of my meal at Lobster West. Everything was delicious and I’m still thinking of my meal there yesterday. I can’t wait to go again!

Great food, great service, cute shop and great location, what not to like about it? Parking can be sometimes challenging but there seems to be a few empty spots on the curb here and there. Prices are not cheap but the food is good so I think it’s still worth it! I got the lobster roll with coleslaw and chips and the lobster bisque. Everything was delicious. I love how they butter and toast the bread so it’s warm and crunchy! The lobster meat was of decent amount and was seasoned well, complementing the lobster flavor! The bisque was pretty good but definitely not the best I’ve had. There was too much wine in it and wasn’t hot enough to my liking. Their coleslaw was very well done, not too dry or sour. But if you’re not a fan of mayo, I’d say skip it. Very friendly service. One lady in the shop came to check on me to make sure everything was fine. Food was also brought out in a timely manner. I also like how their water had lemon in it! Will be back for sure!

This place was delicious! Such a cute spot. feels like your in Maine! Fresh, flown in from maine, huge portions of lobster in the roll. Perfectly buttered bread, enough butter to make it flavorful but not to much where it over powers. Connecticut style is served warm with just butter and some herbs on top(this is what I prefer, warm and buttery… yummm) And New England style is also offered(cold with mayo). The lobster bisque was perfect too. I love the maine root sodas and chips you can get on the side. The locally made coconut cake sold at the front was incredibly yummy. If that’s offered, make sure to get a slice! It’s in a good location, with a few cute shops around(check out soul scape next door) and very close to the beach. I recommend coming here. It’s the best roll I’ve had in California and recommend it to people all the time. Very close to those I had in NY.

Wowza. What a cute little joint, but those Lobster Rolls aren’t cute. They are downright beastly(I mean, in a good way). My wife and I dropped in here to split a Lobster Roll($ 12.95) and a beer($ 5?). We had other places in Encinitas we wanted to check-off our bucket list(we might leave San Diego soon) and Lobster West was definitely one of them. We love lobster rolls and these guys are specialists! The roll was fantastic. Finger lickin’ good. I had a Fat Tire too, but it was their 2 year anniversary and the girl at the counter gave us each a cup of delicious Brut champagne! What a surprise! We got a little tipsy but there’s nothing like wandering down the sidewalks of Encinitas with a little buzz when it’s nice and cool outside and everybody’s in bikinis and flip-flops. I especially love the red claw salt & pepper shakers!
