BEWARE of this«recovery» center. They will quickly and politely take your insurance information and then accept with«open arms» your family member that desperately needs help and then from there they do nothing… except bill your insurance company for THOUSANDS of dollars in fraudulent claims. I have spent hours and hours reporting this business and their fraudulent insurance practices to the California Department of Insurance but wanted to post this on Unilocal to hopefully help someone avoid the heartache and time spent in fighting what this so-called«recovery» home claims to have done. They had no food in the house when my son entered and I was told they had qualified staff that could legally administer medication for sleeping and he was given over the counter cold medicine for sleep! After being in the house for 10 hours I was called to pick up my son… and now my insurance company has been billed for thousands of dollars in claims for services never provided! There are many good facilities out there but sadly it’s hard to distinguish which are reputable companies based solely on their fancy websites and false information given over the phone.

I went here twice and did find a lot of recovery, yes it isn’t perfect but when you’re dealing with alcoholics and drug addicts 24⁄7 it makes it hard for any place to achieve perfection. This place gave me the opportunity to chose to use or stay clean and it isn’t forced on you like many other places, they suggest AA which definitely does help and the therapy is a little lacking but if you want more therapy or more help just ask they’re willing to do things if you ask. The one thing that did bother me is that I was court ordered to rehab for 4/mos but insurance only covered one, so it got expensive after the first month. But if you want to go to rehab and get away there’s not very many places better than Encinitas to do it, it’s a quite surf town surrounded by chill people. The AA meetings are great and the sponsorship is very forward to help you out. I was sober for 8months both times I went to this place and it helped to get me off the hard drugs I was doing making my life so great that I never wanted to go back to that depressing state that was my life before. All n all new horizons isn’t perfect and Nate can be a bit of a hard ass but it is a place where people can get sober and healthy again if they really do want that for themselves, just like any other recovery place if you wanna get high there or after you get out its going to happen but if you really do want the change it will happen as well.

I received a comment from MIke. In his comment he states that my husband was there for six weeks and the total cost of treatment was $ 400. That is absolutely 100% untrue. Below is a list of check numbers, check dates and amounts which were paid by my insurance to New Horizon Recovery. A year later, they continue to be dishonest!
