THE WORST PLACE EVER SERIOUSLY SAVE YOURSELF.
This is the first time I’ve gone to this salon and the first time I’ve gotten acrylic nails. I went in with my friend to get a set of nails done at around 530. They were clearly in a hurry and literally cut me 5 times. Instead of owning up to it THEY PUT GLUE ON MY CUTS. GLUE. ON MY CUTS. Honestly, I didn’t realize acrylic nails took so long, and I would have understood if they didn’t want to do it because it would require them to keep the shop open for longer but SAY THAT INSTEAD OF TRYING TO DO IT QUICKLY AND DOING A HORRIBLE JOB. They made the nails RIDICULOUSLY THICK and I literally walked out looking like I have talon fat nails and it’s awful. It’s especially frustrating when I asked them to make them thin and that I wanted an oval shape not a round shape. It’s awful it really is please just DON’T go here. They have no idea how to do nails or treat people with respect. Also, it was especially rude how they’d be complaining about us thinking we didn’t understand. Whoops.
Just save yourself, I keep finding new cuts. I’ve literally found 2 more cuts since i’ve STARTED THIS REVIEW.
I’m honestly tempted to go back in and tell them to take them off because they did a HORRIBLE job but they’d probably rip my nails off so i’ll save myself that torture.

I’ve been here 3 times. Here is a recap in short version: First time, my friend and I got pedicures and they were done well. No complaints at all. Second time, I had helen give me a fill. The color tips on my nails got crinkled somehow and looked horrible, and then after 9 days, the gel started to fall off! Third time, I had a different woman, and she BUTCHERED my nails. Cut them insanely short, made me bleed and yelled at me. The nails have already chipped and it has been 4 days.
I’m NEVER going back.
For those of you who would like to know exactly what I went through during my last two visits, here are the stories:
My second time at the salon, because of these Unilocal reviews, I asked for Helen to give me a fill for powder on my nails. I have had fake nails for 10 years and I have been to more than a dozen different nail places all over San Diego County, OC and the San Fran area. Helen was extremely friendly. Because they only have pink powder and not the white powder for the tips, they have to paint your tips on. Never ever have I heard of any other salon doing this. I was fine with it, but she didn’t let the paint dry enough and the colored tips crinkled under the gel! She re-​did a few of them, but they still didn’t look better. 9 days later, I noticed large holes in the middle of several of my nails. The gel was coming off! 2 weeks later they looked like shit, and i went in to get them fixed. I figured, i’ll give them another shot and i’ll make sure they use a better gel. I showed Helen that the gel was falling off my nails and she didn’t have anything to say about it. An older woman sat me down and I said what I have said hundreds of times to other manicurists: «i’d like a fill. please cut my nails really short.» she proceeds to cut my nails and i stare off into space and let her do her thing. when she was almost done, i looked down and saw she cut my nails SHORTER than my freaking fingers!!! i immediately tell her that she cut them too short. she asked something about if they were my real nails and i explained to her, «no, i had powder on them. they were fake. i need them shortened and then more powder put on them.» and she was like «yes i can put on a full set to give u powder» and i told her «no, i dont want to pay to have u put those white fake nail things back on me.» and she was like «u said u wanted them cut short!» and i tried to explain to her that i wanted them cut short for fake nails– not so freaking short that my hands look like a 12-year-old’s hands! we were arguing so i turned around and i said «Helen, I don’t think she understand me.» and i explain the situation to Helen and she sat there and just stared at me and didn’t say a thing. The other woman starts to yell more at me and says that i said i wanted them cut short, so she cut them short. I told her «fine, just put powder on my nails and continue.» the entire process hurt– every time she filed my nails or anything she hit the tips of my fingers, because my nails are now shorter than my fingers. She made my thumb bleed really badly and 4 days later and lots of Neosporin later, my thumb is still in pain and still has an ugly scab. My nails have already started to chip, too.
Basically– I don’t know what so many reviewers see in this place. Maybe they’re good at pedicures and simple manicures, but when it comes to getting fake nails go somewhere else! I’ve never ever had anyone cut my nails too short like that and I’ve never ever see chipping and the gel falling off like this. I guess their products are cheap or something. I will never return!

Wow, horrible customer service. Went here with my cousin to get a pedicure. We had to wait a bit which was fine and then were told to go sit and soak in the chair until the next person was available to help us. Sat and soaked and then was told to get out. Apparently they had forgotten about a appointment. Rude, and not my problem. No apology for their mistake so we both left. Never going back!

I have been to sooo many nail salons in north county and this is by far my favorite! Helen and Katie were wonderful and they did my nails exactly how i wanted them! I know where im coming from now on ;)

Really nice place and my pedicure and shellac mani look great! My only complaint is the awful smelling lotion they use. I came home and had to wash my arms and legs over and over and the «old lady» smell wouldn’t come off until the next day! They should try to use less overwhelming scents. Overall though — they are very nice and do a great mani/​pedi! :)

I have been a client of Helen’s for 10 years. She is very professional and does a great job. My acrylics last as long as 3 weeks and no missing nails. When I was very ill, she came to my home to take care of me. That is what I call above and beyond service. The other gals there are very good, especially one that takes care of my pedicures. The salon is clean and comfortable. Recommend very highly.

$ 20 for a pedicure and clean! Spent a good time massaging legs and feet. If your waiting for your car to be serviced and want to multiple task it’s great!
