Very good. Lovely people and a delicious dinner. Fixed dinner changed daily. Was very good, fresh food. All vegetarian and light, but great. Not expensive, but a little spendy for how light it is. Worth the price.

The head chef was so nice and explained every dish on the menu. Love leaving the meal up to him!

Stopped in at lunch time and shared their lunch special. Incredible vegetarian food and they also make a wonderful mango lassi and chai.

Delicious and healthy! Super-flavorful with generous use of spices. Not too much heat. I loved not having to decide between menu options. Lunch price was 12.95. The delicious limeonade was about 3 or 4 dollars. After tax and tip, $ 20. Not many calories per dollar, but plenty of happy taste buds per dollar!!!

I have been to many Indian restaurants but this one was unusual, they served us side dishes as main courses. I am from South east Asia myself, and this seems to be a place where tourists who never had Indian food before get scammed. Very peculiar !

Delicious tali and chai tea, full of flavor and spices, I love it! I went there twice, and I will go again. Each time it’s different, you don’t have choice but they know what they do and it’s really good!

If you want an appetizer, but want to pay for a full meal, come here. The food was excellent and the service was great(although I never got my water refilled but wanted it, badly) but it’s such a small amount of food, you may have to eat before coming here just to be full when you leave.

The chai tea is the perfect balance of sweet and spices. The food is fresh and very delicious! The service is friendly and attentive. The menu is oral so don’t expect to look at a menu. Love this lil spot! I’ll definitely be back again

Wow — this place is tremendous… My wife and I went to India last year, and truly love Indian food. Sitaram delivers a delicious, high-quality thali — fresh, clean and very, very tasty. The saag was made with Kale, and was incredible. Yes, they focus their food service on the thali dish — but it superb, and wonderfully represents the food of southern India. Also, my wife and I are vegan, and they were able to accommodate us. We plan to go back on Thursdays prior to the SRF service just around the corner.

This restaurant has an interesting and i would say atypical concept but its just not my cup of tea. Be prepared, there is NO menu. We were in the Encinitas and craving some Indian food. With my Unilocal app in hand i was excited to find an Indian restaurant near by. Well, upon entering i realized, this is not your typical«mom-and-pop» owned restaurant with Bollywood videos playing on the TVs in the background and the whole family working and grandparents are cooking in the kitchen… No sir, as we sat down, we were told that there is no menu and we will be served whatever was offered that day. Dinner plate price was $ 14.99. The food is exclusively all vegetarian and organic. I was hesitant and wanted to leave but hubby convinced me to be opened minded and give it a shot. As starter we order masala chai and mango lassi, both were excellent but the serving(cups) were pretty small and there were no refills on the masala chai. Food came out on the metal plate divided into 4 parts: rice, lentils, some veggie dish and restaurant’s version of saag paneer. As i was eating my all organic dinner, i was thinking for 5 bucks more we could’ve gone to Royal India in Carmel Valley and have all you can eat buffet with naan bread and variety of dishes… sigh… and yes my masala chai cup would be refiled every time at no additional charge. It was worth a try but i wouldn’t go back. Two hours later i was hungry and it was definitely not a satisfying meal. I get the concept, the place is conveniently located next to the yoga studio, which explained the flocks of ladies in yoga pants. After an hour of stretching and meditating you probably want something light and healthy.

The organic, single option food concept is amazing. As an Indian, I can definitely say that they have got the Indian food right. But the food is bit on expensive side. If they can get the prices down, it would be a great lunch spot.

The concept is interesting but it fell short on a couple of points. — the food tasted ok but all the dishes tasted similar. — the price is way too high for their lunch serving. $ 20 for the sampler and glass of coconut water including a tip. There are buffets where I can pay $ 11 and eat a ton of different selections. — water, please keep my cup full. I shouldn’t have to ask multiple times to get a refill. — their hours operations are really odd. Open on some days on some hours. Maybe I just went on an off day.

We love Sitaram! Lovely people there. All organic and vegetarian Indian food in downtown Encinitas. Super awesome to have a more healthy eating option locally. The approach is different and I can say I’m a fan :) They just have one meal of the day on the board, and that’s that. Simple. The food is good and it is hearty. The spices are fantastic and food is prepared well. Prices are cheaper at lunch time and I believe $ 15 per plate at dinner. A little more than I’d like to spend, but the quality can’t be beat.(Also why is Indian food so much more expensive than other types of food?!) Go with an open mind and you won’t be disappointed.

Coming out of yoga class, I passed this place many times before finally dropping in. Each time posed an exquisite dilemma — the spicy aromas wafting out the door were beckoning me to come in but my sweat-drenched clothing would have been about as welcome as a ferret in the kitchen. Finally however, I checked it out, all showered and fresh and whatnot. Totally worth the wait. As others have noted, the deal is simple — there’s no menu, you just get what they’re serving. Easy peasy. You do have a choice of drink, and I went with the lime-ade, which was fresh and way tastier than I’d expected. The dinner, as you can see in my pic, looks like one of those old Swanson Hungry Man dinners, with the silver tray segregating the various entrees. But that’s part of the simple ambiance, as far as I’m concerned. There were two curries and a purée-type deal in the middle. They were all super flavorful, tangy and lighter than most of the Indian cuisine you typically find around town. There’s fresh bread(it’s not quite a naan — I forget what he called it, but they make them there and they’re straight dope), rice and a bit of yogurt on the side. My buddy reckoned that one bread was not enough for him, so we ordered four more, which proved perfect for the two of us. Sitaram has a totally relaxed vibe and there were a couple dates going on, a four-top of yogi types and my buddy and me. Pretty chill. I was a bit surprised by the bill– the bread was all extra, so the total before tip came to $ 44 for just the two of us– no apps, no dessert. So definitely not the cheapest option but then again, the food is unique, the guys working there were friendly and helpful and never rushed us. Oh, and it’s all vegetarian. I’ll certainly be back.

Amazing flavor! It’s unreal! The only set back is that they seem to be limited in the options or time they are open right now. I think both of those things have the potential to set them back. I tried to come for dinner yesterday, Tuesday and they were closed. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you guys!

The food is excellent. The atmosphere is friendly and inviting. They offer a vegetarian thali: basmati rice with a few very flavored small dishes. The menu is set(one option only) and the chef creates daily very tasty dishes. Try their limeade too! Even if you are not passionate about Indian food, your palate is in in for a special treat.

This may not be what you would expect from your usual Indian restaurant. There is only one menu item which is a sampler of sorts. My wife and I really enjoyed it. She is vegetarian, I am not even close! Very well spiced(not over spiced as many Indian restaurants I have been to. The appearance of both the food and the restaurant is calm and clean. And organic! It was a pleasure and we will definitely be back.

This place is so good. Amazing amazing food. And I am Indian. So I know. I love how there’s only 1 item on their menu. Super quality. But the 1 thing is a Thali with 6 different things on it. So it is super variety vegetarian yumminess.

Finally, an Indian restaurant in Encinitas. They currently are serving one entrée and have potential to grow and expand into something that is good for you– organic and vegetarian. Warning– no alcohol served but their mango lassi is good. Can’t wait for the sitars. Cash or check for now. Stay tuned for updates.
