I never thought I could give a contractor 5 stars, but SJR sure deserves it. We had a major water leak in our living room after the last rain. We tried to get several contractors, but most were too busy to even come look. We did get 2 to look, but this was major work involving removal of an entire wall with 3 huge windows and 3 small ones, and we were not getting a very comfortable feeling that they knew what they were doing or that they had the manpower to do it. Then a friend referred Seth. We first contacted him late on Friday and he was here promptly early Monday morning. (Yes, really he was very prompt.) He politely listened to what we had to say, suggested several places that the leaks could be coming from and basically gave us a feeling that he had the manpower and expertise to make all the needed repairs. He was the first one that made us feel comfortable enough to leave it in his hands. Now for the real surprise — HE DID WHAT HE SAID HE WOULD DO! We knew immediately that his foreman was very experienced and meticulous in his work. Everything wasn’t just done, it was done almost to a finish carpentry standard, which is impossible with this house. (I won’t go into detail on all our house woes, but he wasn’t working with a well built house to start with.) They cleaned up every night and I mean really cleaned up. I’d better stop raving or no one will believe I’m not making it up. (I’m not!) The job is finished and we are very «happy campers».
We just got the final invoice — we were working on a time & material basis. Wow — surprising. Not surprising bad — SURPRISING GOOD. Very reasonable and very fair. No padding at all.

We recently purchased a very rundown home and the following is what’s been done so far. Massive termite/​wood rot damage repair, replacement of broken windows, tear down and remodel of enclosed sun room into a fully weather proofed family room.
What can I say? SJR HandyWords Inc. is the not just the best, but THE VERY best in residential contracting. In a world where there are SOOOOOOO many crooked G.C.s (General Contractors), Seth (the owner) takes a very personal interest in ensuring that his team not only performs at the highest level possible, but does NOT let any detail go unchecked or unnoticed.
I easily know 2 or 3 «ok» G.C.s that would probably do the work for a «few bucks» less, but I won’t risk quality over value. Duck tape, crazy glue and zip ties are NOT the way to go, which so many «ok» G.C.s are willing to compromise on. Think of it this way. It’s your house! You truly need the very best in class to ensure that you will safely and happily create the memories that a home can provide.
Words cannot express how grateful my family and I are for being introduced to SJR HandyWorks Inc., they have virtually restored so many aspects of a very run down home we recently purchased feel like it’s «trending» BRAND NEW. Believe me when I say, you will want to make him a part of your family!
Oh yeah, last thing to note, Seth will be doing ALL of our future work no matter how big or small the job!

Great service. Termite and fungus repair was less than expected/​quoted, so they reduced the total cost.

Pest control company sent this company to repair termite damage on our fascia boards. They performed an excellent job and very quickly. Professional work and crew, they matched the existing paint flawlessly and cleaned up after the job. I would definitively recommend this company especially after having used two other contractors whose work on other areas of our home were just a headache, messy and not of good quality.

I rarely if ever give reviews, but after the second job using SJR Handyworks I felt compelled to. They are honest, reliable and extremely good at what they do.
The first job was to repair significant dry rot. Besides doing an excellent job that exceeded my expectations, the owner Seth, provided me with invaluable information about minimizing the cost of work to meet the pest control requirements.
The second job was to repair extensive water damage caused by a prolonged leaking kitchen sink. When they saw the extreme mold development, my family’s safety was there first concern, and therefore were meticulous in clearing it all out. They rebuilt the damaged cabinets better than new… they are real craftsman.
On both jobs they ran over the amount of time budgeted but did not charge me any extra. I will undoubtedly keep using them when ever I have carpentry or construction work needed.
