I like it, not the greatest sushi on the plant. But very good, kind employees and decent atmosphere. Good place to chill and grab a beer with some good sushi.

I would give no star if I could. Safe yourself from getting sick and don’t eat here. We sat down ordered sushi it had a weird tang to it I couldn’t tell if it was rice or fish, then looking at the Toro it was old the counters were dirty and the fish case was filthy. They should shut the place down and do some major scrubbing before serving people food. I am now sick to my stomach and already puked up once and not feeling better.

Haven’t eaten here in about 10 years, and I now remember why. I’m sitting here with a table full of dirty dishes, empty water, and the host/busser is on her phone. The fish is mediocre at best. The din is eerily silent. Weird. No special treatment or accommodations for the kids, like a friendly hello, smile or some special chopsticks. Nothing. The hostess acts like it’s painful for her to be here. Sad. Last time we come here. It’s just weird.

Came in a little before 9pm tonight because they open late but would never return again. Food and fish quality were nothing to brag about. Ordered chilled tofu, which took two servers and the sushi chef over 5 mins to debate and figure out how to make. You can also hear the kitchen talking, sneezing, and getting ready to close. I tried to ignore all that. Then as our chef was preparing our rolls, the janitor was sweeping the floor behind him. Another chef was in his work zone spraying windex in the sushi displays and I could smell the fumes. And again I can hear someone sneezing with all their might in the kitchen. Just disgusts me. I’m sure everyone is trying to get ready for the 10pm close, but it really doesn’t represent the company well, and makes me question the cleanliness of the food. The two of us left pretty disgusted and unsatisfied for a meal costing us $ 61.

As a regular sushi eater I thought I would take the family out for a Sunday sushi. Taking them to Sushi House was a huge mistake. The service is well below par and the sushi is very average especially considering the price. Anything containing«crab» is a supermarket crab stick with some basic rice. The only good serving both price and flavor wise was the Chicken Teriyaki. Do yourself a favor and walk the extra 300 yards to Hook on Sushi to get an authentic Japanese experience in service and taste.

I’ve been coming here with my family for over 10 years. Over that time, we’ve gotten to know John and the owner. Amazing chefs with great personality and a very local atmosphere. The sushi is great and fresh with some unique rolls(Victoria’s Secret is amazing as is the sushi burrito). We are loyal customers and never go anywhere else.

I love this place. I’ve been coming here for over 15 years. John’s Ceviche and the house seafood salad are our go-to’s, but they have plenty of rolls that are delicious and the toro is a must when it’s available. I can’t speak for any of the non-sushi items except for the hamachi kama, which is delicious. I will keep on coming here as long as John is the head sushi chef! If you’re feeling adventurous, sit at the sushi bar and let your sushi chef create items for you not on the menu.

First impression is that it smelled bad,(fishy– my children started to cover their noses and gagging). Food was good & fresh. Service wasn’t too good, constantly have ASK for more water and etc. It is pricey– despite«HH». Mark my words: There are SO many Sushi places around Encinitas– plenty of choices, choose wisely! NOT this one.

Came here for a family birthday party with a table of 15 on Sunday, it was pretty empty for a Sunday. It was our first time here and we enjoyed it. The quality of the fish is fresh and the rolls are pretty unique. We love the plating of the rolls. We wish we got the names for the rolls but didn’t because we all shared. Our favorite was the roll with rice paper outside and crunchy onions inside. Overall, its okay, we would come back if we were in the area.

Came in for lunch with my daughter and only ordered miso soup and two hand rolls. The fish looked pretty gross, like it had been sitting. The bathroom wasn’t stocked and no one asked us if we were ok, needed anything, nothing. And there was no one else there… which should have been a sign. I had heard it was good here, but maybe things have changed. Will NEVER come back.

If you want to have an awesome time with an awesome sushi chef come to sushi house. Here you can find delicious affordable sushi, plus top notch quality! Could never complain about any of my experience at this place, it feels like home. John(the head chef) knows all of our names by heart. He’s funny and very friendly. The best sushi restaurant in Encinitas. If you are a sushi lover come to this place and you will never be disappointed.

If you’ve never had the full EXPERIENCE of sushi house, you’re missing out. Just like they say to never judge a book by its cover, the sushi house may not look like much on the outside but don’t be fooled. The food is amazing and the staff are the best. They greet us with a smile when we walk in, always make sure to find us a place to sit, and keep us laughing throughout our entire meal! I’ve never had a bad time at the Sushi house! Just make sure to take the time and dine iN, you won’t regret it!

The location of this sushi restaurant is great for me because I can literally walk down to the bottom of the hill I live on and grab some rolls and it’s right next to a BevMo! so I can pick up some drinks too. The interior is nothing to brag about — the front desk and servers are friendly. I’ve never actually dined in, I always order take-out. They have a «Specials» menu with some rolls that are half price — the ones I always go for are the Ocean Star Roll and the Queen’s Roll. Sometimes my boyfriend and I will grab some Gyoza and a couple other Specialty rolls if we are starving, but that’s not too often. A quick walk back up the hill and it’s grub time! :)

This is my favorite place in north county! I always get the best service and the food is always tasty! My favorite thing about Sushi House is that the sushi chef consistently makes amazing custom rolls for me! Sometimes I get tired of the traditional rolls, so its super refreshing when my sushi chef just gets my palate. The toro here is unbelievable! A must get! Don’t forget to finish your dinner off with the mochi! Its also delish!(;

This is definitely my new favorite sushi spot. Everything was so fresh, and served cold! too many sushi places let the food get kind of room temp and I hate that! Sushi should be cold! Why is that so hard to get right? Anyways, now that my rant is over that is definitely one of the great things about this place, actual cold sushi! Another thing I really liked, was they have a good selection of fish and options. My Dad likes a lot of the weird stuff(that I don’t dare try) and he is really happy with the selection he is able to get here. I’m allergic to something in the eel sauce, I really have no idea what it is, but a problem I run into a lot is that a lot of the rolls have it on it. This place had a good selection of rolls that didn’t have it, and the ones that did they didn’t have a problem putting it on the side. We finished the meal with green tea ice cream(yum!) and everything was great. Service was good, it seemed as though everyone shared tables and I’m guessing they pool the tips, might kind of suck for them, but its great that you can grab anyone when you need something. Can’t wait to go back!
