Tried them for the first time today, and was well pleased. I think that they should remove the skin from their chicken breast on the kebabs and that would make it better/healthier. It was a little bit expensive compared to other places is the only reason I didn’t give them a full five stars. They definitely need to have some lunch specials that include the beverage, to make people who have to eat out several times a week be able to afford them more frequently. There hummus and their pita is delicious!

I have never seen a great group of young individuals bust there butts working. Until I came to this location. Every one here is so nice and so hard working. Times at this location are VERY busy… Because it’s so good and the customer service is great. Thanks for provided my husband and I with great food every visit. The Tolls– Bree + Gabe

I ordered the falafel and they were small, hard and nearly charred. Too bad, because the rest of the«box» was good. I am usually pretty tolerant but this is one meal that, if hadn’t been delivered, I would have sent back.

This place is not too bad but could use a bit of improvement with the overall cleanliness of the store and general customer service. Have been to this particular location a couple of times and for some reason the staff is always somewhat disinterested in customer service and the store always has food debris on the ground to go along with the dirty tabletops. Not sure why, but this is pretty much business 101… The product served isn’t too bad though, the chicken kebab wrap is always nice, fresh and is decently sized. The sides are also good, headlined by the delicious spicy hummus. Overall, below average cleanliness with some pretty decent tastes. Pros– Portions Fresh Wraps Spicy hummus Pita Fountain ginger ale Cons– Cleanliness Service Wait time

This place is good! Much better than expected. I’ll admit, I was a little skeptical because walking in looked like I was time warped into a which wich or sandwich shop! LOL and I wasn’t super thrilled at their not so fresh looking sides in their glass case walking in… but, after eating, and even though it was taken to-go. It was absolutely phenomenal. I love that salad dill yogurt dressing and the garlic yogurt sauce went well with my chicken kabob. Only thing I wasn’t too much a fan of, was the red marinara looking sauce or the«flatbread» which really was like a whole wheat tortilla. All in all, I’ll be back. The staff can be a little scattered at times but still trying and it’s not easy I’m sure. I recommend.

I am not afraid to say that I have an unreasonable obsession with The Kebab Shop’s doner kebab. I like that TKS basically says screw traditional Mediterranean cuisine, let’s just make California burritos out of lamb kebab. The lamb doner kebab stands up to any local Encinitas burrito, especially the version with spicy sauce and fries put in. The spicy sauce is laced with crack. This may be controversial, but the fries at TKS are better than any other fries I’ve had in the county. You might be saying, but wait, my local gastropub has duck fat fries. To that, I say, pshaw. The crispy golden fries at TKS are better, cheaper, and tastier. Prices are cheap, and TKS is a place that does Unilocal check-ins right with a free soda everytime you go. You couple that with their use of SpotOn, and Square rebates, and you end up saving some real dough. One of the best options for a quick bite that isn’t terrible for you in Encinitas.

The falafel box with fries and saffron rice was just the right size for lunch! I enjoyed the sauces as well, yumm. This place is pretty spacious and chill, and there’s a Peets in the same plaza to get after your meal!

I can honestly say that I am drooling about their food and doner kebabs. If only there were more locations in North County San Diego. Food: I’d recommend the lamb/beef doner kebab, which is like a wrap or burrito. I have added fries to my doner kebab and I honestly can say its like eating a California Burrito. I am a born and raised San Diegan, so when I say their doner kebabs are better than a California burrito, it still shocks me. The doner kebab can be made with various types of meats/seafood of your choosing. The chicken is a little dry to my liking, so I stick with the lamb/beef. It comes with a variety of veggies in the doner kebab and a sauce of your choosing. Location: I had my first doner kebab in Downtown SD and I had to come to the Encinitas location to have my lunch here. This is a very popular plaza, so its slightly difficult to park and get into due to the traffic on El Camino Real and Encinitas. Also, whoever, designed this parking lot or plaza failed at creating an efficient parking lot.

good quick eats, really like the hummus and the chicken. Just like all Kebab shops they give you some good lunch options. If you get a plate, its very filling, I usually don’t finish it. Customer service is good. However, if you sit outside, they might forget about you and leave your grub sitting. The outside seating is near a juice bar where nice girls chill at during lunch.

Amazing kebabs and wraps. I tried the beef/lamb donner, with a side of red sauce. The order was ready in 10 minutes, and I wasn’t prepared for how good it was. The lamb and beef was cut to a perfect thickness and cooked to a slightly crispy consistency. The veggies are fresh and yogurt sauce rounds it out. Adding the spicy red sauce on after brought it to a whole other level. The place is clean, ambiance is hip and service is friendly. Loved it — hope to return soon.

Strong Armed into leaving a tip. I paid with my credit card and the cashier then turned the screen around to show me the tipping options. REALLY? I have to tip in a cafeteria type environment? Maybe there was fine print that said«no tip» but I didn’t see it and no one pointed it out to me. Considering : My lettuce and chicken doner(although tasty) came out to roughly $ 9.75 I ordered at the register I got up from my chair to receive my order when my number was called I poured my own water from the soda machine I emptied the tray at the garbage on the way out. Where does the tip come in and why did the cashier let out a little sigh when I only agreed to the 93. cents 10% tip ? The money means nothing to me. It is the principle and the borderline bullying that takes place in this country when you eat out. Don’t hate on your customers. Instead demand more from your bosses. Otherwise decent food and I will be back but will use cash and NO I will not tip for basically a self serve establishment.

First and last visit. I ordered a beef/lamb doner without onions. I asked the guy who just finished making it if it was made without onions as he handed it to me, and he said it was without onions. I unwrapped it in the car and found it had onions so I walked back in and asked for another. A different guy was very nice about it and just remade it correctly without a problem. The real problem for me was with the actual food. It tasted and felt like it was very high in sodium. I didn’t realize how high until I finished eating it because I just didn’t feel good. Maybe the other food they serve is not like that, and the guy was nice about the redo.

Their doner is as long as my forearm but otherwise nothing terribly special. The meat is typical spit gyro, and thinly spiced, but at least it’s not overpowered by the wrap, which is nicely thin and crispy. I asked for no tomatoes but got them anyway, just less of them that I saw on other wraps. I’m guessing they come coupled with the rest of the salad and it’s hard to get them out.

If you like Mediterranean food, then The Kebab Shop is a place you want to try. All their Döner options are absolutely scrumptious. Their food is full if flavor and competitively priced. Their dining room is a nice size so you never really have to worry about finding space to sit. If you are new to Mediterranean food, then you will like the menu as it is very simple. It’s a simple 123 of selection to create your meal. The crew is happy to answer any questions about their items as I know many people are unfamiliar with this style of cuisine. I give this my stamp of approval and recommend to anyone.

Always wanted to try The Kebab Shop and finally did on my birthday! Overall it was a great meal. My husband got the doner and I ordered the Isklander Plate(something like that). The doner was huge and the plate was really good as well. I really like the garlic sauce and whatever sour cream they give you with the plate, those sauces were amazing! The items were on a pricier side so this would definitely be something we go to occasionally. I believe the doner was $ 7.99 and the plate was $ 10.59 or something like that. I also ordered a side of fries as well. The wait time was quite long, I think they were filling to go orders and dine in at the same time. If you’re on lunch break, definitely call ahead of time.

Visited on a Wednesday around 1pm, not too crowded. For fresh grilled chicken it takes about 12 min(worth it!) I Ordered: Chicken skewer plate With greek salad(was expecting fresher) And tabouli. Make sure you ask for some sauce Togo!

Always great! Abby consistently offers outstanding customer service. Falafel never disappoints. 6 perfectly prepared falafel balls for $ 2.99 and it’s not just the falafel… Their French fries are INCREDIBLE. Lamb/Beef Döner Kebab is so tasty– for $ 7.99 you can easily get two meals out of it. And if the food itself doesn’t keep you coming you coming back they serve beer AND have a patio. The only downside is you’re not allowed to enjoy that beer out on the patio. BETA: they have gluten free options too! Thanks again, TKS, for great service and the tasty food.

I stopped by quickly for lunch with a friend and purchased a doner with beef and lamb. This is something I don’t usually order but it’s definitely a treat. The space is large itself with plenty of tables, when I went there wasn’t too many customers so the service was quick and the employees were nice. Don’t forget the tzatziki sauce!

Kebab Shop is pretty for those looking for great kebabs! I usually go for the lamb doner plate, minus the cucumbers and add French fries to it. A lot of people say it’s exactly like a California lamb burrito, but I don’t care. Their sauces are pretty good also and compliment the food pretty well. I’ve also gotten the lamb plate which you can choose a salad and it comes with what I believe is saffron rice? I could be wrong but that plate is excellent. Unilocalers make sure you check in to get a free fountain drink. Pretty awesome deal and nice to see a business that supports the people reviewing!

So glad I finally made it here! They have a few locations throughout San Diego and all got pretty good reviews. Doners are my favorite(real) food and just having those and the correct bread for it, an extra star! The Kebab Shop is more authentic than any Doner I have had outside of Europe, though still not even close to spot on, le sigh… The meat(I sampled chicken as well as lamb) is very good but ground before putting on the spit which takes away from how it should be. The seasoning also very different. The fries are excellent, the service the best I have yet to come across, it won’t cure my craving for a real Doner, but it was very good and I will be back for more! They offer a free drink at check in and you can sign up on their website for coupons!
