I had a very similar experience as Walter D. Rented the truck the evening before because they open at 8 and I needed to meet my mover at 8am, 15 miles away. My contract showed ½ tank gas, I drove a total of 36 miles I reset the odometer before leaving the parking lot. When I realized the gas indicator was at ¼ tank, 1 mile away I took a picture showing overall odometer and gas indicator at just over a ¼ tank. When I returned and explained the error on the contract the clerk told me I should have told them right away, then claimed that he saw the truck in the parking lot when he arrived for work at 750am, which was a flat ass lie. I had to purchase 10 gallons of fuel (3.6 miles per gallon and they charged me for 53 miles. Never renting here again

Canyon Lake, CA
Operator indicated that he was the only one in the store and he would not go out to inspect the truck as I dropped it off. He called me later and told me I had exceeded mileage and charged me $ 7. I brought the truck back WITH MORE GAS…½ TANK… THAN WHEN I picked it up. I got it with ¼ tank! I am going to use another truck rental service next time even if I have to pay more.
