Choosing Encino Veterinary Clinic was a blessing for Tubby, our 18 year old cat who needed to be put to sleep. His final moments were peaceful. He was surrounded by loving care givers, from Dr. Hernandez to Miguel, and the reception staff who lit a special candle so that others would know that a family was there to have their beloved pet put down. The professionalism and sensitivity at Encino Veterinary Clinic is truly appreciated!!! I would recommend their services whole-​heartedly!

Our veterinary needs are a bit unique to the average pet owner. Although Dr. Isaacs and the staff at Encino Veterinary Clinic do an amazing job with our domestics pets, they go well beyond the call of duty with our extended needs! Wildlife and Environmental Conservation Inc., is a, non profit, wildlife conservation/​rehabilitation facility. We care for everything from tigers to eagles and much more… When Dr. Isaacs visited our compound for the first time his heart was huge! He offered to help in any way he could to serve these amazing creatures. And time has proven that he meant it! Along with the clinic’s manager, Jose Izapate and the additional staff members, we can know the comfort of having qualified and highly skilled medical care twenty four /​seven. Having many different animal species that are compromised in various ways, our needs are significant and multi dimensional. As the director, I can say without hesitation, that their dedication to service, detail and quality medical care goes well beyond any expectation.

When we adopted a little grey bunny with his nose shoved through the cage at the shelter trying to get anyone to pet him, we knew we did not get a typical bunny. However, a year and a half later — we learned just how different Kevin was. It is often hard to find a vet that takes «exotic» animals at all and if they do, one that knows them well and treats them with all the love and attention as non-​exotic pets. Lucky for us, Dr. Isaacs and Jose are not ordinary caregivers and are the perfect match for our special little guy. We first noticed Kevin had stopped eating and took him in to find out that he had severe dental disease. After a teeth trimming Kevin was on his way and good as new. Then less than a month later, Kevin was not eating again and his eye had begun to swell. We took him to a different vet (because they were open on a Sunday) and were told he had even worse dental disease than we had previously thought and really our best option was to put him down. We did not like that answer so the next day Kevin went back to Dr. Issacs and Jose. Together they came up with treatment that saved Kevin’s life. It took many appointments, medications, and surgeries, but they were supportive every step of the way in making us feel comfortable and more importantly making Kevin feel comfortable. You’ve heard of the dog whisperer, well Jose is the bunny whisperer. We can’t thank him enough for his advice and always being available for questions or concerns we had about Kevin. Thanks to Dr. Issacs and Jose we are now approaching a year from when all this started and we have one happy, healthy little bunny who just celebrated his 3^th birthday! We originally went to Dr. Isaacs because our regular vet did not treat rabbits, but now we have switched all our animals to them. They are truly the best — the best care, the best availability and most importantly, the best love of what they do and the animals they do it for!

Dr. Isaacs is amazing. I brought my black lab to him about 4 years ago when my original vet said he wouldn’t live passed September. Dr. Isaac’s response to that was, that is correct if you continue doing the same thing. Dr. Isaacs put him on a pain management regiment that changed the quality of our dog’s life immediately. Trinity was 15 years old and lived an extra 4 years. His time was up and we brought him in today after Trinity stopped eating and drinking 2 days ago. When I called at 9:30, the kind person who answered the phone gave us an appointment right away so we didn’t have to prolong the pain. The staff couldn’t have been any better. They helped us through our tragedy. Dr Isaacs explained the euthanasia process with deep compassion and gave us choices. My family is very grateful to have had Dr. Isaacs treat our doggie and give us an extra 4 years of love. Thank you to the wonderful staff and Dr. We appreciate the extra care and time you gave us and would highly recommend Dr. Isaacs to everyone who has a pet. Thank you.

I came here because I was Encino having breakfast and my normal, more economical vet, was closed and I told them my puppy had been vomiting and with Diareah for the second day now they were not understanding at all they didn’t even do the full exam they said they wouldn’t even talk about any other possible issues I was concerned with until I gave them the permission to run all kinds of «test», so then I said ok I’m gonna go ahead and just do the test at my normal vet which is more economical which should be understandable except they got mad and started badgering me about how they were the best and «you get what you pay for» trying to justify their outrageous prices. The technician gave me attitude about how it was serious and I needed to do it there and then the doctor came in and did an «exam» in 1 min then said your dog is considered contagious even though no exams or test were done and told us to walk out the back door after paying the 58 $ exam, which bye they didn’t check her eyes, her nose, mouth, or even the temperature they were extremely unprofessional I would never recomend it

I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Isaacs, Dr. McKinnon and the entire staff at the Encino Veterinary Hospital. I moved to Stevenson Ranch several years ago and made the biggest mistake of my life when I decided that Encino was too far to drive my dogs Molly and Stacy to for veterinary care. Dr. McKinnon took such amazing care of my dog Frankie and I was always pleased with the level of care exhibited by the Encino staff. I was comfortable that my pets would receive excellent care when I took them there.
All of my dogs have been adopted with the exception of Stacy. Molly, started with Dr. McKinnon and she had a number of health problems from heart worms to canine Ehrlichiosis, which Dr. McKinnon treated immediately and successfully. She would call and check on Molly to see how she was doing because the treatment for these to diseases can’t be taken lightly and the dog must be kept quite. As a result of Dr. McKinnon’s knowledge and understanding of these diseases, which were not common to Southern California at the time because of the climate, Molly recovered like a champ. After Hurricane Katrina dogs started testing positive for these diseases in California. Fortunately for me, Dr. McKinnon is knowledgeable in both areas. Dr. McKinnon spent three hours with me and Molly the first time I took Molly in and I will never forget that.
When I moved to Stevenson Ranch, I started taking Molly to Banfied Pet Hospital and subsequently Stacy when she came to live with me. When Molly and Stacy became ill, I wasn’t comfortable with the care or shall I say «lack of care» they were receiving from Banfield so I decided to take them to Encino but by the time I made the decision it was too late and both dogs died. Stacy died from canine Ehrlichiosis, which Dr. McKinnon treated Molly for successfully. Molly died from a seizure. Encino is not too far to drive and when I do get another dog, which will not be for a while, I am back at Encino Vet Hospital NEVER to leave again. I have two cats Bandit and Johnnie and they will be at Encino Vet Hospital in the event they get sick.

We love our groomer, Dawne, at Encino Veterinary Clinic. We even wrote a song about her entitled: «I Luvs The Way You Wash My Back». A real paw-​tapper. See:

My dog hurt the bottom of his paws hiking and we needed to go to emergency care. They told me to follow up with his vet (Encino). They should change the bandages. After spending 800 on Emergency care I called Encino to change the bandages– they wanted to charge me another fee to look at him again. I just had his diagnosis 1 day before and all new blood work done. This place is a ripoff

Our family LOVES the Encino Vet Clinic. Dr. Isaacs and Dr. McKinnon are the best vets I’ve ever been to. They clearly really care about the animals and making sure you understand what is happening to your pet. If needed, they transfer the work ups to a specialist to make sure my dogs get the best care. We would follow Dr. Isaacs to any vet clinic, he’s amazing.
The front office staff are extremely friendly and know my dogs by name. If I only bring one, they ask how the other is. It’s a pleasure working with them.
The vet techs are equally wonderful. They explain everything and handle my dogs with care.
The office is a bit expensive, however, I feel this is a perfect case of you get what you pay for. My dogs are taken care of very well and we never have to wait before being taken to a room and appointments are easy to make. I’d recommend this vet to anyone.

Dr. Isaacs saved Pinky Belle. He is a very skilled surgeon. They are all very caring and loving and I would say they are the best vet in the whole valley. Dr. Isaacs has always been very kind and sweet to me and all my dogs for some 30 odd years now. Dr McKinon is also very caring and skilled. I don’t understand people’s remarks saying that she is cold.

I have been going to Encino Veterinary Clinic for years. I am happy with Dr. Issacs who had to pull my cats tooth. My cat loves the groomer Dawn she is amazing. I wanted to respond to a post, when they had a bad experience. I am sorry that the person had a bad experience. But, when you talk to the owner you will have a well cared for animal. He also specializes in turtles.

We have been patients of Dr. James Isaacs since 1989. We met him & Dr. Mary Isaacs. Loved both of them immediately. We have seen a few different vets over the years, and they have all been super. Dr. James wouldn’t have any other work for him if they weren’t up to his standards. He has taken care of 5 of our pup, and 1 cat. 3 of our pups & cat have since passed. He still takes care of our 2 girls we currently have. I love being able to ask him questions and getting explained answers. He takes the time necessary with us as the parents as well as making my furbabies feel comfortable. I have always been able to speak with Dr. James at length when needed. We will always be a patient of his. He is one of the most knowledgeable doctors I’ve ever met & know, he is an amazing diagnostician as well.

My dog, Lily, was saved by Dr. MacKinnon 3 years ago. I did not have the 5,000.00 to pay for her surgery, so I took her to see Dr. MacKinnon and she agreed to perform the surgery on Lily based upon what I could pay. She wanted to give Lily a chance to live. I couldn’t believe what she told me. She agreed to help me when I thought I would have to put Lily to sleep. I was so thankful and grateful. Lily was at the vet’s a week after her surgery. Lily bit the staff and was not a very good patient, but the staff members treated Lily with love. I will never forget what Dr. MacKinnon did for Lily and my family.
A few months ago, Lily was jumping up and down like she always does and she displaced her knee cap. I called the Encino Veterinary Clinic and even though they were completely booked, they squeeze Lily into their schedule do Lily could be seen by Dr. Isaacs. The staff was very friendly and kind. They took x-​Rays of Lily’s leg and prescribed some medicine for Lily. The staff is very professional and took the extra time to copy Lily’s medical records for me.
They will always have my business and I will always recommend them. I have already told many of my friends and hope you will give this place a try.

The doctor and nurses are so friendly and treat my dog very kindly. I always get email reminders for vaccinations or prescription renewals which I love! Very easy to get an appointment with a very short wait time.

I must add to my previous post…
After leaving the practice after my previous post, I found an internal medicine specialist and hospital called Access in woodland hills, California. I kept going for grooming at Encino vet because she is just terrific and a sweetheart.
After 8 months of this arrangement, we received a phone call from Encino vet. It was Dr. Jimmyboy… who, mind you, never even called to cop up about your clueless examination surgically of my dead Mickey. After stringing our family along for many many $ thousands saying our Mickey would «improve» from what Dr. Jimmy Isaacs insisted was gallbladder issues.
Yet he was dead from liver failure within 4 months. A painful, preventable death that for all that money… after opening up my dogs abdominal region I’m surgery– deserves a refund… instead
An ULTIMATUM…
This lowlife is so manipulative that he calls to threaten the friggin groomer’s livelihood by telling us we can no longer use the groomer’s services.
James, you are pathetic.
How dare you threaten our family.
How does a Doctor open a dog up surgically, miss deathly liver damage… and tell us it’s his gallbladder. Has anyone else heard of self-​fulfilling prophecy?
And you call after so much time to threaten us?
Our new doctors looked at us as if we were idiots. «His liver is completely failing… he has maybe a few days left».

Such friendly people was in and out within an hour or so had everything I needed taken care of and then some great team of staff and definitely bringing my doggies there again

Great clinic – I took our box turtle here when we first adopted her and was given all the advice I could want. To date, I have a happy, healthy turtle. Which is good, as turtles are – well, they’re not dogs or cats, so it’s a bit difficult. Thank you, Dr.

Yesterday I had my puppy neutered. I was very nervous since this is my first dog .
Everyone was so nice.
The girls at the front completely put me at ease. My puppy was treated as if he was part of the family. After the procedure they took him for a walk at the park and kept a close eye on him all day.
They gave me everything I needed for home care and the Doctor even came out and discussed the procedure with me.
The cost of the procedure was very reasonable too.
Today, one day after the procedure my Puppy Truman is doing great.
