The owner of this establishment knows nothing about customer service and doesn’t care whether or not you eat here. That alone should make you want to stay far, far away. Last night I was in there and overheard him screaming and berating a couple at another table. They were trying to use a coupon which he was arguing with them about. He was calling them names and screaming at them to get out. It was a horrific display of behavior for a man whose living depends on the success of his restaurant. Apparently he doesn’t care. Stay away if you don’t want to be abused. If I could give this place a zero rating I would.

My girlfriend and I are from Tempe, AZ where we have found an excellent middle eastern restaurant right on campus. On a recommendation from a friend, we visited Itzik Hagadol grill on a Friday night recently when visiting LA. We both loved it so much that we had to return Saturday for lunch! Friday evening we ordered the 20 salads with full meal plus a bottle of Galil Alon wine — all excellent and served by a friendly and professional staff. My girlfriend had the lamb chops, while I had lamb kebab. Between those entrees and the 20 salads, it was an extreme food orgy and we were both in ecstasy the entire evening — everything was so flavorful and prepared so perfectly it was unreal. Both my girlfriend and I have spent much of our lives living in Israel and elsewhere in the Middle East and without a doubt Itzik Hagadol Grill is the best we’ve had — here in the US or in the Middle East. The entrees and the salads were so delicious we were salivating and could not get enough of them… So of course we returned for lunch the next day. This time we had roasted eggplant and felafel in a laffa. The roasted eggplant just added to the list of amazingly tasty dishes on Itzik’s menu. For anyone who loves Middle Eastern food, or for anyone who enjoys good food no matter where it’s from, Itzik Hagadol Grill is one of a kind, far above any competition and a must visit in the LA area.

I liked this place a lot! Salads seem cheap but they are very small, so altogether it adds up. Food is fresh and delicious, and we were pretty happy with the service as well, so cannot complain!

Want authentic Israeli food? You have to come here. I’m always here for the 20 salads. Well, maybe I don’t get 20… But at least get 4, for myself. That’ll come with one of the lunch specials. And if you are a group of 2 – 4, definitely get 8 – 10 salad. On a regular day these are perfect with house made pita. We hit the weekend of Passover and got a generous basket of matzah. My favorites salads– Hummus spread Babaganoush Chicken liver Red cabbage Pickled cabbage Favorite main course– Lamb skewer Romanian Kabob Check in with your Unilocal app and you get a free glass of wine on the house. Wait staffs are all friendly and energetic. From food to personalities, you’ll get a full taste of the culture and community. At the same time the restaurant is rather moderately contemporary looking. Enjoy the experience!

What happened to ordering a steak to order. My 14 oz rib eye was cooked well done. I asked for well seasoned with salt n pepper. Rare. Not 1 grain of salt. Tasted like a piece of burnt meat. Only thing its got good is lafa bread. Chicken schnitzel and a few salads. Also how did salsa n guacamole with american coleslaw make it on a appetizers menu for middle eastern Israeli food? Owner is russian. Cool guy. But please teaxh staff to cook steaks to correct temperature. 2 stars for waitress and Moroccan carrot salad.

I live in the city and my family who visited me from Israel wanted some Mediterranean food , A friend told me about this restaurant. We came at the evening. One of the best hummus I ate in the states. The generosity of the salads they serve is crazy, there were about 20 different salads that kept follow to our table. Service was great and u could see the owner really cares about his customers. Defiantly will be back.

Food was great. Everything that was served in front of us was just outstanding. Hummus, potatoes, baba ganoush, french cabbage salad, the laffa za’atar was just amazing. Compliments are for the staff and management — our server Anna was very friendly and informative. The manager, Yuri, came over multiple times to verify we were eating. Even other servers checked in — it felt like a family atmosphere The service was outstanding and the food was so yummy! I highly recommend this place !!!

I Was there with my friends, we were surprised to get 20 salads with refills only for $ 11 per person. I didn’t really like all of them, but most of them were delicious, and it was a pleasure to have a refill every time they are finished. For the entrée I’ve had a chicken liver with mashed potato and veggies on the side, frankly speaking I didn’t expect to get grilled liver, but it was silly from my side because the name of this restaurant is itzik hagadol GRILL. I’ve never tried grilled liver before but I liked it. We didn’t get any desert that day and trust me, after 20 salads I am not sure that it’s possible. I would like to tell Thank You to our waitress Anna, she provided the best service, it was such a pleasure. I am sure me and my friends will come back there to try something new=)

Very disappointed!!! This place was my favorite not anymore!!! Saturday noon me and 2 more cupels decided to open a table. we ordered all the salads which we remembered as amazing but not anymore. The meet was over cooked and the desserts wasn’t authentic– nothing that was remembered as it use to be. I wish you could go back to your glam days.

One of my favorite restaurants! I love coming here on weekdays for their lunch special. I almost always get the same thing; it’s that good! Their lunch special only applies on non-holiday weekdays, so beware. The lunch special comes with 3 salads, a house entrée, and either lemonade, arnold palmer, or bottled water. The salads and house bread are AMAZING. It’s so addicting. Once you start eating it, you won’t be able to stop. My two personal favorites are the Turkish Salad, and Vegetarian Chicken Liver. Mind you, I usually HATE eating salads, but this stuff is amazing. I always end up buying some more to take home afterwards. I love their house kebab as well. Always well seasoned, juicy, tender, and full of flavor. I get it every time and it never disappoints. Come and eat here. Just don’t take all the Turkish Salad or Chicken Liver. Because I want it.

It’s crazy how expensive it is over there .we just came back from there, my kid ate one hot dog and I had a hummus, we paid $ 70, $ 70 for one dish that include meat that is not even meat. I’m so insulted now, it’s not fanny I’m not a cheep guy not at all but to pay 70 $for nothing I will not go there any more

Good food but the dinner was expensive. Just 3 of us, we paid $ 100. Be careful with salad. You get charged $ 22 for just salad if you don’t under any pain meal. If you do, you pay $ 11 for salad. Still… Bottom line, good food but over priced in some way. Enjoy.

Fellow Unilocalers: the one free glass of wine does NOT apply to weekends apparently. This is not mentioned in the check in offer and I feel they should have honored this because it’s not mentioned in the offer, but alas they did not, and apparently will not! We were here about a year ago and the side dishes and food was a lot better from what I remember. We went here last night and it seems they have a lot of stickers for good reviews from 2013 and 2014, but not 2015. Perhaps they got complacent. We were here at 6pm last night for dinner and it was maybe ½ full. The lot of side dishes work like this: if everyone in the party orders a main course the side dishes are an additional $ 11 per person. If not every person enters a main course it’s $ 22 per person that doesn’t enter the main course, no exceptions, even if the person is not going to eat them, as they say the dishes will go in the center of the table. Not a bid deal, but just FYI. I ordered their house kebab pizza last night and it was very bland and did not resemble a pizza at all. When I think of Pizza, I think dough, tomato sauce, cheese, toppings. Thins thing was bread + their kebab on top with some seasoning. It was round, and cut like a pizza, but that’s about where the similarities ended. Very bland, would definitely NOT recommend. My wife ordered chicken thigh I believe, and it was edible. The side dishes that we ordered were g eggplant and the Israeli salad, and those were good. Overall, I don’t know if I’d come back here. Some things good, some just OK. Very middle of the road restaurant.

A fantastic Israeli restaurant in Encino! Their hummus is so delicious and creamy and they have a wonderful assortment of salads that you can order to start. They bring out like 20 different kinds of salads so for those who love hummus and salads, this is a place for you! The fish and meat are also really really good. They grill everything fresh and everything tastes so good. Plus, if you check in on Unilocal you can get 10% off your whole bill which is always good!

I know I vowed to never go back but I’m glad I did. I visited here for Father’s Day with my in-laws and the food AND the service were both fantastic. We were immediately greeted by an extremely friendly manager or front host. I couldn’t tell, he was doing a lot. I forgot our server’s name which is a shame cause he was great. My father in law isn’t the easiest person to get an order out of(he asked 20 questions about the sodas alone) but he handled him well. The restaurant was very busy for the holiday and our waiter was definitely busting his butt. This time the manager stopped by to see how we were doing. I seriously had a completely different experience. I learned a lesson on second chances. I’m glad I gave Itzik one. PS. I happened to see the horrid waitress from my previous visit and I gave her the stink eye!
