I’ve been waiting years to be able to write this review… That day has finally come. I moved into a Source One managed building in Jan 2010. In the years that followed here’s the issues the tenants in that building had with them: — they took weeks to begin repairs on the back stairs after the supports broke. — when rats were reported in the building it took nearly a year for them to take action to get rid of them. — the water to the building was shut off 3 times because the water bill hadn’t been paid. Each time there was never so much as a «We’re really sorry». Instead we’d get annoyed attitude for bothering them with it. They’d also never follow up to confirm if the water was back on and functioning properly. — it would take constant nagging to get them to start or finish a project that needed to be done most of the time. — when the first tenant moved out(all the apartments moved in that same month), they didn’t return their deposit after the legally required 21 days. When that tenant demanded their deposit… That’s when source one hired the cleaning crew to make the apartment ready to be shown. Basically they just let the apartment sit there for three weeks without cleaning, showing or listing it. — they left old paint thinner and lighter fluid bottles sitting next to a gas dryer. — for the first couple years the bedrooms had battery operated-only smoke detectors. Illegal and a fire hazard. — their gardeners were lazy, stopped watering whole sections of the building. What used to be green grass became dirt… — they ignored multiple letters requesting they fix these issues before a 2nd of three rent increases took effect. They ignored the letters and served a 3 Day Pay or Quit notice over the extra $ 50 I refused to pay until they fixed the problems. — After replacing a backdoor to an apartment, they left the old door sitting in the back patio and ignored requests to remove it. — Richard the owner is extremely unpleasant and dismissive. Apologizing for their mistakes is not an option for him. — they instituted multiple large rent increases($ 50-$ 100), the first notice arriving on Christmas Eve. Taking advantage of Culver City not having rent control like the entire area surrounding it. After tracking down the owner of the building and sending her a few messages from time to time letting her know of all these issues, she finally decided to kick them to the curb yesterday. Even the tenants who moved out were thrilled to hear that they’ve been booted, though they said if it had been done last year they probably would have stayed. To sum up… The owner is rude and their follow-up on issues is horrible. So happy to see the, gone!
