I wish I could give it Zero Stars. To start, the guy insulted me by making fun of my last name. Then I asked if they had any fire wood and the guy says did you bring your own fire ring. What makes you think I would brink my own fire ring. Turns out only some camp sites have fire rings. It’s really an old wheel well, not a real fire ring. So he has in the camp store where you can rent a fire ring. Really, why would I carry my own fire ring and why not have a fire ring, it that not part of camping. KOA, have you seen what you allow to be called a KOA. So we pull up to the site we were given. The picnic table is about 3 feet from the neighbors sewage dump. How tasty to enjoy a meal right next to the sewer line. FYI, all the picnic tables are next to the sewer dump of the neighbor in the full hookup sites. You only have about 5 feet to the next neighbor. No privacy at all. Not the most pleasant place to stay off 95 if your are camping or traveling.

Having had car trouble, we were relived to see this campground down the road. We pulled in and after 15 minutes of trying to assess our situation the owner/manager came by and started hollering at us that ‘it’s been 15 min and we never checked in with him and that he was watching us’. I explained we were looking into our car issue and determining our next steps and I was lectured again. No offers of assistance, no hellos, just a rude lecture from him. Not welcoming at all. We finally limped down the road to an alternate place for our overnight stay. He doesn’t deserve your business. Even in an emergency it’s not worth it.

The Rocky Mount/Enfield KOA is in the middle of sweet potato and cotton fields, just off of route 95. It’s not maintained very well. Unlike most KOA’s, I found the gentleman that checked me in to be unfriendly and far from welcoming. Their web page says that sites have WiFi/internet, but this KOA issues codes that limit use to 8 hours of wifi per day for a single device or else cost is $ 6 per day per device. The clock starts ticking as soon as you enter the code, so while 8 hours spread over 24 hours wouldn’t be so bad, it is when the 8 hours is up. The speed of the WiFi was unusable — wound up using my phone as an access point as it was much faster. Overall, I would skip this KOA if in the area again.
