Air Care Colorado Emissions Testing Center

Just visited this location for an emissions test. In and out in under 15 minutes with quite a line of cars. Super impressed at how quickly they turned us over. And, everyone was nice. Not a bad way to end a Monday workday.

Love the negative reviews. If you spent even 60 seconds reading the FAQs or general information on their website, you wouldn’t get mad, get in a confrontation, and look like a fool in public.
Oh man, you had a wait in line? How terrible! Suck it up, you know what’s coming when you have to come here.
This location is decently quick, and there really is never a huge line.

I just want to say that they give great customer service and they tried to get you in and out as soon as possible you guys have a great crew.

Some of the staff are a little short. But I haven’t had a bad experience here in 15 years. And the lady who checked me out today was extremely courteous. Extremely rare in dealing with a government entity.

Horrible customer service. My vehicle failed gas inspection. So I went to go ask some questions on why. And was explained very rudely. I understood why but could have been explained differently. Definitely worth the ride to go somewhere else. I rather not let these guys touch my car cause they seem like people who wouldn’t mind damaging your vehicle.

Should have read the fine print regarding the mandatory emissions testing! After waiting at the DMV for over an hour, we were directed to have our vehicle tested at the nearest emissions facility. By then, the line of cars stretched across the parking lot and out onto the street. The wait was atrocious, but at least the staff was relatively friendly. Our car is now cleared for two years. (I have all that time to mentally prepare myself for another visit).

Still really bad. I took my 91 Explorer there for emissions testing. They failed my gas cap. It’s failed before, but a subsequent retest at another location passed it. You get a free re-​test after you fail an emissions test, so I drove over to Napa, bought a brand new $ 10 gas cap, installed it, and drove back to the testing center to re-​test. 10 minutes later, they have to run the car through the whole dyno test again just to re-​test the gas cap! I understand policy, but that’s just silly. If my car passed 10 minutes ago, it will pass again. The only difference is 20 minutes of my life that I’ll never get back.

These people are incompetent Nazis! Not only are they totally rude and unorganized but they are really DUMB! They don’t know the difference between a car that has optional all wheel drive and a car that is all time 4 wheel drive… I’m a girl AND I’m blonde so if I know the difference and its their job to know but they don’t you know they’re REALLY dumb! Lol… the guy directing the vehicles in line was a serious douche! This place and having to do this period is a load of crap when you have a brand new car, I can see having to do it with a car from the 70’s but seriously on any vehicle made in the last 2 years is absurd. I don’t know of any other place that does these tests but if you can find one GO because this place SUCKS!

These bastards messed up my new-​to-​me BMW 530. I finally had the opportunity to own an extremely nice vehicle which has been running awesome until the moment I turn the keys over to some incompetent kid who had to rev my car through their program on the dyno 4 TIMES before he got it right. Then he shuts down the engine and it won’t start up again. He killed the transmission somehow. They rocked the car off the rollers and pushed it out of the bay. I yelled what the hell, and the techs simply said, «sometimes a car won’t start after the test is over, It’s not our fault. That will be $ 25 for the emissions test.» F#@KING Bastards! I wrote up a complaint but had to pay out of my own pocket to have the car towed to Schomp BMW. Now I have to wait 48 hours for THEIR complaints department to decide if Air Care Colorado should be responsible for the damage. Nice way to treat people! I guess when there is NO competition for business because 1 company has the contract with the State they can treat people like crap over and over again.

Went on Monday around 1pm, line was very short.

I drive by their stupid mobile monitoring stations dozens of times all year long and they still make me go to their test station and pay them $ 25 to get the cerificate needed to renew my plates. My truck passed without issue so why couldn’t the mobile stations pass me? Becasue this is a blatant money making scam and they wouldn’t receieve their $ 25 if the mobile unit would have passed me. I hate dealing with such dishonest and immoral people. But they have the public at their mercy because we need their signoff to get license plates renewed. What a scam!

I was nervous about having to do an emissions test before registering my car with Jefferson County, but this place was painless. We were in and out in less than 30 minutes (wait time and test time included).
Get there, pull into a lane, follow instructions, and go hang out in the waiting room. You could bring a book if you want, but it’s not totally necessary.
The only thing is, they will do VIN verification for you, but it costs money. You’re better off going to your car’s dealership and getting it for free there.
