Bear Creek Archery

Well… to begin with, my nephew and I came in and we’re interested in learning about archery, so we were somewhat greeted by one of the youths that work there. As we began talking, I could sense that he really wasn’t into explaining anything to beginners. His whole energy about himself was unprofessional. I explained that I’d like to go hunting with my buddy this year, and he looked at me as if I were a joke. And proceeded to tell me that I need 2 years practice. Not knowing anything about me at all, he kinda sized me up like he was the god of all things archery and there was no way anyone could do it better than him. He then nonchalantly passed me off to another youth who, albeit was way more energetic and nice to talk to. The chubby one was just irritating me. As I decided to buy a bow, the taller one went through to the back where the other was, and I noticed them laughing about something. That was it for me. I met a nice lady there whom I assume is the owner. She was super nice. Other than that, I’ll never be back. Thanks.

Great kids class with wonderful, kind and encouraging staff. With equipment rentals, it’s totally affordable. And it’s so much fun!

I work in Denver for a couple of months each winter, and shoot archery as a passion. I come to Bear Creek Monday– Friday. I like this place. It is a family run company, a high priority on beginners, youth archery, JOAD program, as well as being open to all. There are all archers here; Competition, Hunters, Casual, Women, Kids, Beginners, all are welcome and taken care of.
Range safety is great and not intimating for beginners. They want you to succeed. Been coming here for a couple of years, I like the atmosphere and clientele.

I had a great experience here today. It was a Saturday and they were busy. But that didn’t keep them from impressing me with great service. John was the one who worked with me. I brought in a used fully equipped bow I had bought this morning. I don’t know a lot about bows so I stopped in on my way home to ask a few questions. Over an hour later, my bow is tuned up, I have a better peep sight on it, John fixed my arrow rest with a part he had in the back. He reset the draw length for me and set the draw weight to my preferred setting.
While he was helping me, he was also helping others, doing a great job balancing everyone. I had a ton of questions and he happily answered them all. I don’t have another archery shop to compare this experience to. But when I walked in, he knew I wasn’t going to be a big sale for the shop, but he treated me with the same respect and attention as someone ready to drop $ 1,000 on a new bow. That means a lot.
In fact, while I was there another customer thought so highly of the personalized attention that he received from another employee (I think Bob) that he thanked the guys profusely for the personalized attention in front of a large number of customers. You don’t see that very often.
I really am impressed with these guys. Good customer service may be dead everywhere else, but it’s alive and well at Bear Creek Archery in Englewood.

Terrible retail experience.
I went in to Bear Creek after having experienced archery for almost 40 years. I was essentially ignored for the first 8 minutes I stood at at the counter, then almost as an afterthough a young lady, said, «Is there something I can help you with — I’m in the middle of something .» I told her I was interested in getting started in archery again and had a bunch of questions and could wait. She proceded to try to sign me up for a beginner class which sounded great — but there were no openings for several weeks, she then tried to sign me up for an «individual» lesson, but they had no times that would work with my schedule.
Did she offer to go ahead and answer questions? No. Did she offer to have someone else answer questions? No.
They probably lost out on the opportunity to sell me more than $ 800 worth of equipment this afternoon, and any future business I might have. I’ll also be sure my friend who is also thinking about getting started in archery and any others know that Bear Creek is not the place to go to get advice or service.

This place has TERRIBLE customer service. I purchased a used bow that needed mods to be adjusted to my draw length. After calling the closest Mathews dealer to my house I called Bear Creek and very specifically asked if they have the parts I needed. They said they had them, so I drove 25 minutes to their shop. When I arrived they took my bow and put it in a press to install the parts, only to tell me that they didn’t in fact have the correct mods. Well, I was disappointed, but everyone makes mistakes. Where they really showed their colors was when the shop chose to charge me $ 10 a «shop charge». I had planned to buy a sight, pull and other items totaling probably $ 400, but decided that the $ 10 is the only hard earned cash this shop will ever receive from me. For the record, I did voice my objections, but they clearly place the value of customers at under $ 10

After not shooting a bow for almost twenty years, I decided to pick the sport up again.
The folks at Bear Creek have been very helpful to me in getting my bow set up properly. They really have gone out of the way to help out, and I enjoy shooting there too; the range is very reasonably priced to shoot on.

I walked into this place knowing nothing about archery. Cathy showed me the basics and started going 2 – 3 times a week. They set up a bow for me and take care of it free whenever there is a problem. Everyone here is very friendly and accommodating.
