Justin Metzger of Blackbird Building & Restoration was contracted for a landscaping project on May 6, 2013. The project price was $ 5,000 and the estimated completion time frame was 4 weeks.
He completed roughly 60% of the work in three months after promising it would all be done in 4 weeks. He consistently and repeatedly broke his word on days he’d be working, completion deadlines and materials that he needed to purchase. He also asked for numerous payment advances even though the work was progressing way behind schedule.
As of August 1^st, he has been paid for most of the project. After almost three months of incompletion, and in interest of finishing the project; we both agreed that he would refund me for the work that needed to be done minus the remaining amount owed. The number we came up with was more than fair.
I was forced to finish the job myself and purchase materials out of my own pocket. I had planned to use his refund to help pay for those materials.
I have received several promises of payment, but have not received any money from him. After dealing with Justin’s constant dishonesty for three months, I have little confidence that he intends on paying this debt.
I have also connected with several of Justin’s previous customers who shared similar experiences.
Steer clear unless you like roller coaster rides with your reconstruction project and/​or being scammed.
