Good Times Diner

We lucked upon Good Times Diner for breakfast and could not have been happier. Great coffee, very reasonably priced (I got the Sunday special $ 4.99 …unheard of!), good, fresh food. Exactly what we expected, yet better! Fast, friendly service too. We were very happy to find you today!

My husband and I just discovered this local gem. What a diverse menu, with good portion sizes at very reasonable prices. We’ve had breakfast and lunch on several occasions. My ONLY complaint is that they won’t substitute sliced tomatoes instead of toast for those of us cutting back on carbs, every other restaurant I’ve been to in Englewood and Venice is happy to make the switch. Hopefully management will read and change their ways

Just had the Steak and Shrimp Dinner special! The shrimp were fantastic and for grilled steak, it was superb. As usual staff was friendly from first step in the door to the last step out. The special comes with, Ribeye Steak, Fresh baked potato, Vegetable Medley, good roles, all for 10.00. Being from TX, an impressive Steak Dinner. Big guy here, but so full, from main course, had no room for desert! Way to go!!!

Good hamburger, fries. Terrible chicken soup. The popcorn shrimp was over cooked. Service was friendly and competent.

Tho crowded in season, the service is fabulous. Try the broiled fish sandwich which is huge and a bit healthier than the fried fish. Also good is the crunchy French toast. The salads are huge, try the taco salad or the fried chicken salad and the spinach pie with Greek salad.

This is the place for breakfast. Excellent food at excellent prices. Real value.

Very good food and service and prices are good. My husband had the Blueberry pancakes they were perfectly done. I had ½ order of Sausage Gravy and biscuits, 1 scrambled egg it was very good. Will be going back soon to try Dinner.

I want to transport this place right into Vegas, but then so much of what’s great about it might be lost. The food is great, perfect eggs, perfect corned beef hash, refills on coffee that are so efficient you’d think the cup refilled itself. The best part, though, is the wait staff who know every single customer by name and make a stranger like me feel right at home.

They don’t make them like this any more, at least not without visting a lot of thrift stores. This diner looks like I would have expected it to look 50 years ago. The menu hasn’t changed in those 50 years, either, I reckon, except maybe some adjustments for inflation. It’s one of those places where you can order an egg salad sandwich or a diet plate with cottage cheese on it, and there are always cheap specials. You can tell there are plenty of regulars who love the place, and with the prices being so low, I can see why. If you want plain food for a good price, this is your diner.

This is the best breakfast restaurant. Low prices on specials during the week. The best indication is that there is usually a line waiting for a table. They have booths, tables and lunch counter serving. The waitresses get to know you. When we go out for breakfast we go there. It’s not the closest breakfast place to where we stay in Placida but it is always worth the extra distance. My wife likes hard hard poached eggs with grilled tomatoes. Never a problem getting it. They aim to please and coffee service is top notch. They deserve a «6»

Wow, the other reviewers must have really low standards. Unfriendly service, although the other servers seemed nice… we just got the grumpy one. Homefries were a steamed pile of what seemed like frozen potatoes, no flavor. Breakfast sandwich was visibly grilled but was soggy and topped with a shiny piece of unmelted processed American cheese. My son got the breakfast quesadilla, equally nasty. Stay away, there’s got to be better places.

Don’t be deceived by the dark exterior, Good Times is, in fact, a good time. My parents and I went for breakfast and had a lovely meal. The prices are reasonable and the portions are hearty.
I decided on the pancakes with blueberries (add $.75 per pancake) and they were delicious! Fluffy, flavorful, and buttery. The parental unit had standard breakfasts and enjoyed them thoroughly as well.
Where Good Times gets the bump up from 4 stars to 5 is the service. The waitresses here feel like your eccentric aunts or something. From singing «Wake Up, Maggie» from the back room to giggling with one another on the floor, these ladies know how to have a good time! The extra bonus? I was craving a cup of coffee to go and our waitress must have read my mind (or overheard me?) because she offered without me asking. Whoohoo!

Excellent breakfasts, great service, very reasonable prices. One of our favorite breakfast spots in Englewood.
