Interesting place to grab a beer. Cool decorations as well. The man that owns it can be very crotchety and rude.

Total dive, my type of place. Smelly, old, charming, and unique. Locals only type of spot. Loud stereo system/juke box playing all the good old and new hits. Really puts me in a good mood being here. I wish this was closer to my house, I would be here several times a week. This place gets 5DIVEBAR Stars.

This place is like wine; if you like places like this then it’s well aged with character. If you’re not into it, then it might as well be mad dog 20⁄20. Brick walls, dark aged wood and eclectic furnishings greet you at the door. Mismatched chairs and floors, wall art chosen seemingly at random. What a dive! I swung in on a Friday at 5. I was the youngest patron by 30 years, but that’s not a problem. Exploring the place reveals a slightly open back end with a pool table, fooze ball, darts and a few arcade games that were off. There’s also a protruding island bar in the back — must have been a jive place back in the day! The neon sign outside should have been a signal for that. I ordered a brew on tap and had a perky conversation with a bearded bartender. Beer was $ 4 for a micro brew local — not cheap, not bad. The TVs behind the bar are dated and tiny; not the place to watch the game. But if you wanted good company it might be a passable option. So what is this place good for? Its good for a group of old guys to get a brew and relax in an underdeveloped, decorator free, classic atmosphere to share stories and pack a few back. If you need to dance, watch 10 games at once, play crazy bar games or order beer from around the world try a different spot. I like this place. grab a beer and put you’re feet up. cheers. 4/5*

Often I like being the youngest person at an old person dive bar. Other times, like at the The Paradox, I don’t. Especially when the place smells like old man sweater. I’m adding a star because I would *totally* take my Dad here and pound a few back.

A MUST for the dive bar tour! Jorge G.‘s review sums it up — everything you want in a dive bar — strong drinks and eclectic customer base waiting at the door in the morning. I love the copper counter tops and bar.

A-OK if you are the sort of person who spends most of their day sitting at a bar drinking. The husband’s fishing buddy is a bartender at The Paradox. On MLK’s b-day; after a day of fishing in 70 degree weather, the husband wanted to gloat a bit to his working buddy. So we stopped in for a cocktail. It is dark and decorated with beer signs including the rotating Bud draft horse lamp. There are games and pool tables if anyone is so inclined; two guys were giving each other drunken chest bumps over a bowling game. Woo Hoo. However, our bartending friend mixed a great bloody Mary for me(on the house) and the husband had a beer. Not a place for Unilocal happy hours but also not a totally creepy place for a drink. We heard they have bands on Friday and a different set of people at night, so you night owls will have to review that scene.
