We hired Mike Sheely Home Inspections in 2011 to inspect our home. Mike sent out one of his inspectors, Gary, and over all seemed like a good inspection. We sold our home in 2015 and the buyers also hired Mike Sheely Home Inspections. There was an issue with a second set of wires on the main lugs of electrical panel identified that was not identified on our original home inspection in 2011. Nothing was changed with this since that inspection in 2011. I questioned Mike about this and he said Gary was not as familiar with electrical code as he was and he let Gary know about this. That is great that Gary now knows his mistake, but I am left with the bill and responsibility to fix the issue for the new buyers. Mike offered no compensation only that it was the code inspectors fault for not noticing this when he certified the panel from the previous owners. Personally I believe it is Mikes fault as well since his employee was not trained properly and did not know electrically code well enough to catch something like this.

Mike Sheely will not stand behind his work. He will do whatever it takes to find his way out of a problem that he missed and make promises he won’t keep. Do not use this company for a home inspection; look somewhere else. He needs to learn how to respect his customers and be fair.

If I could give 0 stars, I would… Mike Sheely did our home inspection and our pest inspection. All came back clear! On the day we closed on our house, we began ripping out carpet. Lo and behold… TERMITEDAMAGE on the hard wood floors! Unfortunately, because he wasn’t able to look under carpet, we were upset we found termite damage, but we didn’t blame Mike. However, a few days later when we were walking around in our basement, we saw very obvious damage in multiple places on the visible basement joists. We called Mike, and he told us that he wanted to come back to the house to see the damage. When he came back to the house, he confirmed that there had been termite damage that he had missed, and he told us he would pay for the termite treatment. Because the inspection was not accurate, I asked he if would also refund us for the inspection. In an arrogant tone he replied, «Do you want the $ 45 for the pest inspection? Or do you want me to pay for the $ 2,000 treatment?» I backed off and told him the $ 2,000 pest treatment would be fine. He left. A few minutes later, he knocked on our door, and he brought up a photo of the picture that was taken of the basement. He told us that the damage was missed because there were items in the way.(If I can post a photo of the basement, I will since it is almost laughable that he would use this as an excuse. The basement is 90% clear). After he came back into our home to show us this photo, as if it was enough evidence, he left. We weren’t sure what to think, but since he told us he would call us back with the pest treatment information, we waited. He did call back. But unfortunately, Mike went back on his word. He decided that he won’t pay for the treatment, he won’t pay for a refund, he want do anything. In fact, he didn’t even apologize. Truth is, Mike’s inspection documents cover him enough so that if anything is wrong, he isn’t responsible. So why even have an inspection??? We wanted to think that Mike was an honorable man, but Mike is not a man of integrity(and others do not seem to think so either). I recommend that you use someone else for your inspection.

Mike Sheeley was contracted by us to install the radon system, nothing else. He snooped around our home without permission. In addition, he made a statement to the real estate agent that he doesn’t like doing work for ‘them kind of people’ referring to our same sex marriage. His bigoted comments are another example why we moved to a more friendly state where our money is welcomed by all businesses.
