Hurlbert Toyota – Service

Worst experience having vehicle serviced. First told routine maintenance was covered, it was not until all work completed I was told $ 165 cost (oil change). Second it took 2.5 hours. No explanation, just an oh well attitude. Here is to your oh well attitude, everyone go else where.

Worst dealership I have ever gone into, looking for a new Tacoma was told when walking into the entrance none available and all ordered where spoken for.
Live close by and will never visit again.

I wish I could give this place Negative stars! This is a terrible business to work with and so many other consumers I have spoken with have found Hulbert Toyota to be terrible to do business with. They incorrectly completed a recall on my vehicle and have refused to acknowledge their wrongdoing or compensate me for the hundreds and possibly thousands of dollars in problems this has caused (despite going through the BBB and attorney generals office). Save yourself the stress and go somewhere where you can get quality customer service and a business that actually has integrity. If you really want a Toyota, I would recommend driving to Manchester or Nashua, they are much better to deal with!

I’ve seen 3 trucks get frame issues done here. 2 were new frames. Done ok but many parts the customer was not expecting and was not informed sbout. 1 frame was «treated» and looked like shit… seriously no care just slathered on. didn’t even wash the frame they just smeared the stuff over the dirt. Flat rate… hacks. Never delt with sales. Or with them personally just seen what they’ve done with 3 trucks I’ve worked on.

I wish i could give 0 stars. THESE PEOPLE WILL RIP YOU OFF, TURN ELSEWHERE IMMEDIATELY!!! This place will 100% rip you off. the sales people here are beyond awful. if you even try to talk to them about prices other than whats listed they get really defensive and aggressive immediately. I have never been treated so poorly by a cars sales group my entire life. After dealing with he service department it has only gotten worse.

I am only giving Hurlbert three stars because the Camry we bought in 2000 lasted is 13 years. We went back last winter to replace it and the sales people plaed this game where they line up cars to test drive that they want to get rid of. They pressured us into buying a black Avalon that we didn’t want. When they looked at our trade in, they claimed there was hail damage. I was south of Boston when the hail storm went through here so there was no hail damage. So we asked about leasing, and the salesman excused himself and came back 15 minutes later and said the «lease machine» had given them problems. The lease they offered was not acceptable and we turned it down. When we left they parked the Avalon we didn’t want right between the door and put car so we had to walk by it. We leased a Honda Accord which we are very happy with. And we will not be going back to Hurlbert unless they treat customers like customers and not idiots!

Was impressed with the friendly receptionist at the service desk (not the scowling guy who looks like an extra from Prison Break). And they seemed to be honest. If you use their quiet room and you need to get work done, make sure you bring headphones and an iPod or something. The desks are comfortable, but it is decidedly NOT quiet. Their receptionist has one of the most irritating voices I’ve ever heard, as well as an inability to hang up a phone without slamming it down. Next time, I’m bringing my noise-​canceling headphones.

Brought my car in for 120k service @ advertised/​posted price, given 30k service instead + spark plug service & overcharged.
Quoted $ 3000 for additional work which Portsmouth Toyota quoted for $ 700 less.
Avoid this dealer/​service center. Go to Portsmouth Toyota.

On February 2, 2013, we made a final warranty service appointment and to have a flat tire fixed. We decided to wait since it should have been a quick appointment. A hour later, we were asked to go into the garage and were shown the «bad news.» On the work bench was a cabin air filter which apparently was inhabited by a mouse. The mechanic asked us where we lived and when he was told «Fremont», he said «that figures.» Apparently Fremont officials are keeping quiet about the mice infestation to everyone but Hurlbert Toyota.
One tiny mouse caused $ 135. 28 worth of damage (cabin filter, Frigi-​Fresh and labor). Then we were told that it wasn’t just a flat tire, the rim was also bent. We were quoted a price of $ 260.00. When we said no and when we were ready to leave, the price suddenly dropped to $ 160.00. At this point we felt like we were being screwed over and decided to leave.
We brought the car to a garage to have the rim fixed. Total price: $ 25.00.

My wife just got back from picking up her car from Hurlbert service dept and looking over the repair invoice I noticed a $ 30.00 charge listed for «Shop Supplies». That seemed rather odd to me so I called Hurlbert to inquire what exactly Shop Supplies were and asked if it was a mistake. I was told that the charge is correct and it’s added to cover the cost for rags, towels, uniforms, gloves etc. You’ve got to be kidding me! That’s ridiculous and I told them such. I then pulled some older Hurlbert service invoices and noticed that this wasn’t the first time they added a $ 30.00 surcharge; it’s just the first time I noticed it — shame on me. This is a ripoff! They should add their Shop Supply costs into their overall operating costs instead of trying to pad their profit margins with surcharges. To begin with Hurlbert’s shop rates are already way more expensive then independent shops. If that’s not bad enough every time we bring the car in for a scheduled service or oil change they will ALWAYS find extra work that NEEDS to be done immediately — or else. My wife agrees to the work because she’s afraid of breaking down with the little kids in the car. Hurlbert just got the last dime they’ll ever get from me — I’m going elsewhere next time.

This was my first experience buying a car from a dealer: a 2011 Toyota Camry. I was told by friends that they were up-​front and honest, and so I paid them a visit. I checked prices at other dealers, and they sold me the car at the lowest price I could find.
This dealership is a family-​owned business and I actually met and spoke with two of the Hurlbert siblings who work there.
They introduced me to service techs and bent over backwards to make everything go smoothly.
As for the car itself, the smoothest ride ever!
