Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen

First time in Cheddars. Best I could say is Ahhhhh… it was OK.
I got in about 7.30 on a Thursday night. Fairly crowded. I sat at bar. I ordered a spinach dip app, ribeye steak with a salad.
Salad came out in minutes. As I was halfway thru my salad, out came spinach dip, luke warm. They must have salads ready to grab and go for staff. The spinach dip could have been hotter. The sour cream on top didn’t even melt into the dip when I stirred it. I took away for that.
So as I’m halfway thru dip, the steak comes out. Steak was good.
Guess you never hear anyone complain about food coming out too fast, but it sat in front of me getting cold. It’s like there is no communication as to how food is coming out.
I’d probably go back but I’m more aware of how they operate now.

Great food, friendly staff, only complaint there was a mixup with my husband’s dinner causing it to arrive late. Overall very pleased with the prices. Less than $ 35 for a family of 4. You could tell everything was fresh and wasn’t processed food. I liked the décor and really liked the ceiling fan, it was something I had not seen before. I’d like to go back next time we’re in town.

Now I don’t know why people are giving such low reviews for this place. The service was phenomenal, I think our waiters name was Greg. He brought over the food and it was perfect. Seasoning was spot on, on my catfish, and was cooked to perfection. And at the end Greg brought over a box for our left overs, a to go cup for my drink, and two mini boxes for our sides. Amazing and professional service. When I got home the leftovers even tasted amazing. There is a reason I gave this place 5 stars

Very surprised to see the negative reviews. I have been here many times and it’s fantastic each time. I have always been greeted and seated immediately. The food is always delicious and everything is SO cheap for the most part. I will continue to come back here.

On the way there I was so hungry I could eat the crotch out of a hobby horse. The food was great and came faster than me. I ate and ate and ate good god were stuffed. I can’t wait to get to our hotel… its not gunna be pretty.

The restaurant is nicely decorated, pleasant, and affordable. Wait staff were pleasant and efficient. The food was good and servings generous.

The food wasn’t bad but we waited forever. I got my salad with my entrée and one of my sides never came. The server let our empty dishes and glasses pile up. Not coming here again.

Wonderful food, fast service, low prices! A great dining experience. We will definitely be back!

We wanted some burgers, and a friend recommended we go to Cheddars, so off we go. We get seated promptly by a friendly hostess. Our waitress came over (who didn’t seem to happy to be working on a Saturday at 3pm), and we gave our drink and food orders, (which weren’t too difficult or complicated). Our food came at a reasonable time considering the slow time of day, but both of our burgers didn’t come how we ordered them. We ordered two Smokehouse burgers, one without tomatoes and pickles, one without tomatoes. Both were prepared the same way, with no lettuce (should have been on to begin with), both had pickles and no tomatoes (half correct). They tasted as expected, which was pretty good, but luckily, we ordered extra BBQ which was needed since there was a pretty minimal amount considering it was a feature of the burger. We ordered a Key Lime Pie Dessert Mini, meh. Nothing worth ordering again. Food wise, burgers were good enough for me to go back (tasted pretty good and great prices). But, the service was mediocre at best. Refills were quite slow and incorrect, and she never asked if we wanted to order dessert (first for me).

Went here tonight (Saturday) at 9:00pm and there was no wait at all. Server was super friendly.
Décor is modern and very nice with internal brickwork, a large palm fan spinning from the ceiling, and a cool aquarium. This place is nice!
We ordered the full rack of ribs and steak and half rack. Prices are very reasonable with those being under $ 15. Food came out quickly with a nice presentIon. Steak was okay but the ribs were amazing-​fall off the bone type. Sides were fries, loaded baked potato, and coleslaw. The latter tasted really fresh and the baked potato was nice and soft with tasty toppings.
Can’t wait to go back here, and hope to try a dessert!

I been to cheddars in North Carolina and Florida and here is no exception. Inside looks identical to all the others ones I been in before. The food is what it should be, a solid good tasting dinner. I’m not sure what all the negative buzz is about at this particular location but I certainly had no issues while visiting here.
The price is what it usually is as well, very reasonable. So until I’m proving wrong and I happen to be down in the Erie area, I’ll stop on back in!

Every time I have been here the food has been cold, And terrible! I will boost them up one star due to the fact that they had the head cook come out and ask if we wanted anything else or what they could do to improve the meal. Probably make sure the food is hot and edible. They did take my meal off of the bill and offered to give us a $ 25 gift card but I turned it down because I will not be returning. I would not and will not recommend this place to my friends!

The food and service has gone down considerably in the last several months. With a ton of places in the area in the same price range, cheddars is not at the top of my list for cheap food in Erie.

Beautiful atmosphere, great food prices, great drinks, the food is okay and thewaiter was not the best at all. I had the Asian salad. It was served with a ginger dressing but, it was sweet with no ginger taste at all. The portion was good size but the chicken and shrimp would have been better warm. My husband had the Philly and it was good but needed sauce. The waiter only stopped once. He was nice but, a fake nice. I think it’s the age. He had more of a burger king teen presence than a waiter who is knowledgeable, mature, knows food, knows how to check on tables, etc.

I actually had good service and good food. Hardly anything was priced over $ 10 because portions were just right!
I actually found my dinner to be really surprisingly good. My standards for franchises being pretty low.
A friend picked the place and after seeing Unilocal reviews I was not optimistic. A party of four, we had a great experience!

Terrible! Service was soooo slow. Food was cold and it wasnt even busy. The ladies rest rooms was neglected; over flowing trash cans (PLURAL) and the stall I used had an over flowing femnapkin bin. When I asked my server to get the manager another server came over looking like she was ready for a fight when I asked if she was the manager she said no but she already knows what I am going to say the first stall doesnt lock correctly (SERIOUSLY?) Then I told her about the condition of the bathroom and she looked genuinely surprised and she abruptly said she’d take care of it and walked off. I will never eat here again and hope you don’t either.

This place was ok… with a name like «Cheddar’s,» I was expecting a restaurant with more personality and, I dunno, cheesy dishes? Instead, it feels like they’re playing it safe and trying to be your next run-​of-​the-​mill chain restaurant that offers a little bit of everything.
Food was an overall «all right» from everyone in our party (from the fried chicken to the burgers). I had the tilapia with mango salsa… nothing to write home about. My brother gave a thumbs up to the «grown-​up grilled cheese,» which was nothing more than some slices of cheddar and American cheese with roast beef.
Lastly, the reviews I read all commented on poor service… but we found the opposite to be true. For an unexpected party of nine at 7:30 on a Friday night, they sat us in no time. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. There was a moment where the manager reprimanded our waitress while she was serving us… that was super tacky.
To block out the memory of the blah food and bitchy management, definitely get a few rounds of the Cheddar’s Painkiller or Tea… they’ll do the trick!

This was an ok choice for dinner. To quickly summarize the restaurant was clean, food was ok, service was ok.
Upon entering it appeared that the hostesses, yes plural, didn’t have everything under control. They appeared to be flustered and the manager had to chime in.
The restaurant atmosphere was that of an upscale restaurant with the non upscale prices.
Our waiter was fantastic. He was very personable and friendly. He checked in with us and kept our drinks full.
The food was pretty good as well. We ordered an appetizer which was way overdone. The entrees were good. They also have some gluten free choices. There are a few items that are supposed to be low in calories but only based on their website.
The bathrooms were extremely clean and smelled good.
A few things that were weird. They seem to run out of silverware. We didn’t have any to start with and had to ask for it even after we received our appetizer. The waiter kept apologizing for the wait but we didn’t even notice the wait.
Good place to go but not great. I would go back there but probably wouldn’t make it a suggestion.

After 2 visits I don’t think I will be back unless I get outvoted. I was less than impressed both times with service. I think they actually forgot about us the first time.
During the second trip they sat us in the bar area and we were greeted by a sewage smell and we were also lucky enough to sit just close enough to where all of the employes gather to complain and swear. The food was decent I had the Monte Cristo. But I have had much better and much better ambience.

I was able to sit down at the bar right away but it took about another ten minutes before I was even approached by a bartender (it looked as though they had been pretty slammed).
I ordered the chicken tortilla soup as an appetizer and when it came out I was less than impressed by the portion size and the temperature was luke-​warm at best. I had the chicken tender platter as my entrée and I must say that the chicken tenders were huge and I was given very generous portions. The flavors of the tenders and the two sides that I had (fries and broccoli caserole) were very good. A guest that was seated next to me ordered the chicken tenders basket and he had the same amount of tenders and fries but no broccoli caserole and paid $ 2 less so I was not impressed that they basically charge $ 2 for less than an ice cream scoop full of broccoli and cheese. I ordered the big cookie dessert and it was good although I would have preferred the cookie to be a little more on the soft and chewy side rather than crunchy.
All in all, the reason for my twol stars here is not really due to the food but rather the service. The management needs to step up during busy times and help out their staff rather than just checking the sales numbers in the computer. I witnessed more than one manager step behind the bar not to help customers that have been waiting but rather to log into a computer and appear to check numbers and that is not acceptable when guests are waiting to be served! The management needs to either wake up or be replaced!
