I went for their $ 8.00 Saturday lunch buffet, mostly because I was interested in trying a bit of everything. All of the food on the buffet was hot, fresh, and very good. The flavors were complex and the meats were high-quality. The service is rather impersonal, which might turn some people off, but that has never been a bother to me. It’s the only place to get Indian cuisine in Erie(other than Wegman’s, which has questionable authenticity) and it didn’t disappoint.

The The RajmaHal II is being built on upper Peach St between Books Galore and Pier 1 Imports by the Millcreek Mall. So now I can get currey after my comic books and napkin rings. No offense to the owners but I couldn’t be happier the old place burned down! The new location is SWEET! Is it just me or did the whole menu go up $ 3 – 4 on each dish? Um…

We got a table that was not cleaned properly, the food was not good either. We have had good Indian food around the country and this is by far the worst food ever. I wish i had taken pictures of thier«Sizzlers» that we ordered. It was nothing but stale carrots and raw onions on uncooked meat. We were surprised to see lot of people in the resturant though and a lot of positive reviews here. Oh yeah, they have a automatic gratutiy of 15% which i have never heard of in my entire life. I am still puzzled why they would add that to the bill, for a party of 2.

A friend and I tried the lunch buffet for the first time and we were happily surprised by the quality and flavors. There were approx 7 main dishes, 2 veg based and the others protein based. Each dish had its own unique flavor, not overly spicy or saturated in salt, but very nice clean flavors. The only thing I would request management change is how the tandoori chicken is presented, smaller batches cooked more frequently would give guests hotter food. The tandoori chicken was very good. Overall the restaurant was very clean, well appointed and food was top notch.

Dinner Carry Out Review: I went to pick up some dinner for my husband and I tonight. The place was packed and while yes the restaurant is a bit dated I am not looking for ambiance when I go out for Indian, all I care about is the taste of the food. We did not order a huge variety of food, just Chicken Tikka Masala and Lamb Makhani and some naan. Everything was very flavorful and we both have plenty of left overs for tomorrow. We will definitely be back.

The place is a bit dated. The food is good enough for a night out.

Love Love Love this place. Been here quite a few times, and every time I have been satisfied. The food is authentic and delicious. Chana Marsala is great and and all their curry dishes are great as well. They have a great buffet, which I recommend checking out! All in all, great place to go for Indian food, needs some updating on the décor and curb appeal. Don’t judge a book by its cover, and take a gander.

My wife and I were a bit apprehensive when we arrived as it looked decrepit from the outside. Do not let the appearance deter you. The food was wonderful and more than ample. We ordered the Raj Tandoori special for dinner and each portion was enough for two. The Raj is clean in the inside and they use cloth tablecloth and napkins. We will go back any time we are in the area.

I like Raj Mahal overall. It has been somewhat inconsistent at times, but not from good to bad, more so from very good to good. My favorite dish was the chana masala. There are not tons of Indian choices in northwestern PA, so this would definitely be the go to place. Fairly clean and it is very capable of handling large parties.

The lunch buffet is a great deal. I always take friends here who have never tried indian food because it’s nice to be able to sample everything. Service has always been friendly and the restaurant is very clean. The naan bread is awesome!

I’m with Noël B. Raj Mahal compares very favorably with well-regarded, even upscale, Indian restaurants I’ve enjoyed in Cleveland, OH; Buffalo, NY; Pittsburgh, PA and the Washington D.C. area. The buffet is a tremendous value(and they DO sometimes have beef), but you need to explore the dinner menu for the full experience. I’ve always found the service to be very prompt and courteous.

Daniel R. from Kent Ohio, needs to look at his review a little closer. First I never review a restaurant based on a buffet. Second I would be appalled if I was in an Indian restaurant and expected«beef». They do have beef but lamb, and chicken are standard meats, except when I eat Goan or Kerala dishes. Having 3 chicken dishes is fine for a buffet, since the places I eat in Jersey have the same. What are you looking for? This place is a gem, I suggest you stay away from Indian restaurants in the future since you seem to be very biased. I had dinner at the Raj Sunday evening with my wife and two friends and we were totally satisfied with the meal and the wait staff. I finally got the Lamb Balti and it was delicious as were the appetizers, vegetable pakora and onion baji. My wife and one of her friends had the Rogan Josh and our other friend who had never eaten Indian food before had the Chicken Tandoori. We also had the bread assortment. Not only did we enjoy the food but the son of our friend wolfed the rest of it down at home. So in closing sour grapes are something best eaten at home. This place is the genuine article so go and enjoy.

Pretty disappointing especially given some of the earlier reviews. The buffet was limited in that only three chicken dishes and no beef dishes were available. There were no more than 7 dishes available. The mint chutney was heavy on beery sauce, but no mint. The mango dessert with«fresh fruit» clearly consisted of mango pudding and canned fruit cocktail. The service was slow, unfriendly, and unprofessional — our waiting kept reaching across and in front of members of our party. I will not be going back.

Yum! This place gets my authentic stamp of approval. My friends took me here for the lunch buffet. There was a nice variety of dishes, from 2 different kinds of naan, 3 – 4 curry dishes, tandoori chicken, dessert, and some other items. Tons of flavor and fresh food. We also had a coupon for $ 1.00 off the buffet, so our bill for 3 people was only about $ 22. Heck yes!

Excellent Indian food… for the value hunters you MUST enjoy the lunchtime buffet which generally has about 11 different dishes, some vegetarian, plus rice and naan. I’m a fan of curry and chicken and I’m always satisfied with the selection of buffet items and the spice level. Also, try the Chai! Lunch buffet, 11:30 — 2:30, dinner from 4:30−10. The buffet is either 6.99 or 7.99 and is a real value. Catering is available.
