I found The Cantarroso Farm while on my Appalachian Trail hike. At first, I planned on staying at the other available«hostel», because it was right off trail and was more conveniently located — but i went to the Cantarroso Farm to pick up a package and absolutely fell in love and needed to spend the night. I rented out the cabin for a night with another hiker for about $ 25 each. It had a DVD player with movies, a little shower, a really awesome composting toilet, two beds, a little seating area. I spent the day sun-bathing, exploring the river area, lounging on the hammock, reading, napping. I was SO happy to get some time away from all the hikers at the other hostel. This is not a place to party — its a place to relax. The«B&B» portion of the farm(which is part of their home) is BEAUTIFUL. The owners designed this house and I was in awe. They are very friendly and their prices are fair. I would have stayed a second night but the cabin was already reserved and I needed to get back on the trail anyway. — chicken coop, cool art, bee-hives for honey, hiker-box, snacks for sale, etc. If you find yourself in Erwin, TN — make sure you stop by the Cantarroso Farm! Trail Name: «Maybelline». I stayed here in early May 2015.

I first discovered Cantarroso Farms by meeting Peggy(owner) while Thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail just outside of Hot Springs, NC. When I arrived a few days later they took me in as if I were family. I had injuries from the trail and without hesitation got me the medical treatment I needed. They put me up in the cabin where again they made me feel at home… so much so I did not want to leave spending 5 days with them. I met many other wonderful guests who shared the cabin and stayed in their guest rooms in the house overlooking the scenic view of the river. If you need a bed, room or whole house rental I HIGHLYRECOMMEND Cantarroso Farms as must visit in Erwin Tennessee. Trail Name: «Wye Knot»
