This is a great family friendly environment with tons of great homemade sauces! The service as well as the owners are great would definitely recommend this to anyone who loves anything pulled pork!

We love pulled pork, and have eaten at many great places in East Tennessee and western North Carolina. This is our favorite. The meat is very high quality, moist and smokey, and the variety of sauces is terrific. The atmosphere is nice and the service is exceptional. We ordered 10 pounds bulk, and they packaged it just as we asked (1 lb pkgs) with our choice of sauces. We had a big party, then froze the rest for a party 2 months later. It was still outstanding! I have read reviews about the great desserts, but have always eaten so much BBQ that it was a moot point.

My man and I were coming home from a motorcycle trip. We had been surviving on mostly Hardee’s and I needed anything else. It was a Sunday and things were looking pretty bleak until I found this place. Then the clouds parted and we were gifted with outdoor seating and delicious ribs and hotdogs. We were kind of cranky and road weary, but they were nice to us anyway. If I ever find myself in that town again, I’ll definitely go back.

The staff was great. We sat at a nice outdoor café table. Casual attire. Sweet tea was delicious. I had the pulled pork sandwich which was perfect. Great smokey flavor and really tender. I like that they give you your choice of bbq sauce and let you put sauce on yourself. Some places drown the meat with too much sauce. Will be back !

This place is showing signs of desperation in it’s efforts to find a financial foothold. The menu is a mess, many things are not available, there is no focus. The staff is overbearing in their sweet attempt to impress. «We have a dozen sauces», but they are numbered instead of named, and we only offer four at the table. The meat had all the smokiness an electric oven could provide. I was surprised to see smokers out side– could have fooled me. «We have lots of side dishes, nut they are not available?» We claim to be BBQ and hot dogs, but we offer nachos, quesadilla’s, pretzels and other JUNK. Focus on one thing, do it well. Narrow your menu to the winners, and never run out of them. Portions are slim for the money. Meat was flavorless, and smoke ring and flavor was absent. Sauces were meh and very similar. Buns were grease dipped. I do not expect them to see winter 2016.

My boyfriend and I come here for 90% of our dates. The store owner knows us by name. The food is excellent, prices are so reasonable, and I can’t say enough great things about the service. Really, the best BBQ I’ve ever had! I recommend the BBQ nachos!

This place is a gem! Lou, the owner, was the nicest person to our family. He felt like an old family friend that treated us like family while dining in with him. The ribs on Friday are a must get. Huge portion and the bbq sauces were a treat. Wonderful staff and very accommodating. Genuine people, genuine place, genuine plate. Thank you Lou and staff!

Best in Erwin for lunch and bbq! This is the place that we come back to in Erwin, year after year. Even if my family didn’t live nearby, I’d come back when in East Tennessee. I love homemade bbq sauces (11or 12 different ones!) – and the family gets different ones to taste and compare. My favorite is #6 – slightly sweet and hot. My favorite dish is the Hawg and Dawg with a hot dog w BBQ, slaw, mustard and onion – you have to eat it with a fork. I’ll definitely be back, and if the family allowed, I’d eat lunch there daily!

A proper welcome to the south! We stopped in for a quick lunch on our move from Montana to North Carolina and boy was it quick. Food was out about 2 minutes after we ordered and was delicious. Definitely try the house Carolina sauce on whatever you order. It’s all good. Thanks to Lou and the boss for showing us a great time! We will see you again.

Yum, Yum. Baked Potato special with pork was great. Had #7 hot sauce for some extra zing. Hummingbird cake split made a nice end to a tasty, filling lunch. Not sure we will be driving down again, but if we are I’m the area I’d stop just for another hot dog.

Four words: loaded BBQ baked potato. Thursdays only. Amazing! Everyone was super friendly. I am from out of town and love a local restaurant. Definitely recommend if you’re ever in Erwin!

This place is a tasty addition to Erwin. With nine different sauces to choose from, there is a plethora of ways to mix to get the perfect amount of heat and sweetness. The owners are attentive to the customers needs and the restaurant is meticulously clean. They offer daily specials and have some unique desserts. If you stop by on Thursdays, be sure to try the loaded baked potato topped with pulled pork and a delicious fresh salad!

If I am ever anywhere close to Hawg-​N-​Dawg, I would surely go every visit! When I read a hot dog topped with BBQ, slaw, chill, mustard and onion, I thought, that sounds delicious, then I thought, I wonder if it’s going to be weird. It’s not. My head exploded with happiness.
We ordered a few items off the dollar menu, you can also order a grilled cheese with BBQ, there are specials every day, Thursday is a baked potato stuffed with BBQ. There are also eight different sauces and some are hot, be sure to ask for the ones that aren’t out on the tables.
Save room for homemade cake/​ice cream and be sure to grab a Dr. Enuf elixir. This whole scene is a little slice of heaven.

Oh wow, what an awesome place. Right off the highway. You must stop here for Lunch if you are travelling through. Best BBQ and Hot Dogs with great pricing and super friendly staff!

Located in Downtown Erwin, you will find a unique place with fantastic food, and great service, that is fantastic after some hiking in mountains near by.
A small locally owned joint that is fun and playful with both the menu descriptions as well as the staff.
All the sauces are made on site and taste fantastic, ranging from traditional smokey sauces to hot and sweet. The pulled pork, served dry is fantastic and moist, available in a wide range of items from the deliciously simply «Grilled Cheezer» which is a good portion of pork smothered in cheese on two toasted pieces of bread, the namesake «Hawg-​n-​Dawg» which is a Nathans beef frank, on a new England bun topped with cheese, pork, chili, and some delicious fresh made slaw.
Good prices, fantastic sweet tea, and friendly staff round out some of the best bbq in the area, well worth the short drive from Johnson City.

A convenient spot for good sandwiches and BBQ plates. Also Nathan’s franks on toasted New England rolls with everything. Great.slaw. The family loved it!
