99 Cents Only Stores

This is probably one of the cleaner dollar stores in the area, its very large and has a pretty wide selection of items. Great if you’re looking for one time use part decorations or any cheap deal.

This is a nicer 99 cent than the latter in Escondido, I don’t frequent often enough to see much of a difference between the 2 except that this one seems bigger and more put together than the one on E. Valley. I came looking for inexpensive containers for meal prepping and found some at 99cents for 2 nice deal! The customer service by staff is ridiculous, I mean I know it is a discount store but the young lady named Beatrize that rung me up was unprofessional and unhelpful in all ways. There was an elderly woman in front of me who had an array of smaller items and was struggling to pull them out of her cart in a timely manner. Beatrize looked frustrated and hurriedly rung the elderly lady up and bagged her stuff in many bags, had her pay and didnt offer help to put them into her cart or any other kind. She then proceeded with my transaction not greeting me or saying hi, I asked how her day was (nicely) I thought and she didnt even respond. She told me my total while the older lady was still trying to collect her bags and head out the door so she was blocking the card swipe pad, she looked annoyed with me and said «ill take your card» and took it out of my hand, handed it to me with the receipt and I guess we were done because she just started ringing up the next guest. I was kind of stricken, horrible service.

This is 1 of 2 new 99¢ only stores in Escondido, which now has 3 total. It is much larger than the other new location in the former Fresh & Easy building, across from where the original location was before it was moved further east.
Why is this store always so hot? Maybe they don’t have control over their thermostat?! The poor employees always seem to be suffering and sweating buckets.
The grand opening was right before Christmas, and for a while they were getting all the prime merchandise, to the detriment of the other stores. It seems to have levelled off some now. You can still get some awesome deals if you know what to look for– I recently got items that would normally sell for 4, 6, or 8 bucks! Be aware that they are now selling items for 1.49, 1.99, or 2+.
