Be wise ranch’s CSA is great! We have been members for at least three years. The produce received is diverse and fresh and the service is great! I had to put my account on hold while I was nursing my newborn because he couldn’t tolerate vegetables and they allowed me to do so without any hassle. Re activating was easy. In addition, I recently forgot to pick up my box and sent them an email late that night once I remembered. I got a response that evening with the hosts contact info and then the next morning Sandra called to tell me that she had already contacted the host and that my box was waiting at pick up for me. My only complaint is that we get a lot of oranges… things could be worse.

We have been members of the Be Wise Ranch CSA for over 10 years. They are truly a treasure. The produce is wonderful. So fresh, and such a great variety. My family loves the carrots, and strawberries and when the spring onions are in season, they are just the best! The staff there are wonderful. Any time we plan to be out of town, it is easy to cancel those specific days. Over the years we have even received a few reminder calls when we had forgotten to pick up our box! We often say that getting our Be Wise box is kind of like opening a present, its always fun to see what goodies are inside. Thanks you Be Wise, we are so thankful for you!

great produce at a great price. Be Wise itself is very laid back and easy to work with. If you are on vacation and need to pause your service they make it a breeze. They also have a wonderful website with recipes to help you figure out what to do with all that chard.

Great CSA! We do a large box every other week for 3 adults &2 kids. It works out nicely, challenges us to find new recipes, and motivates us to eat more fruits and vegetables.

Organic produce, locally grown, picked in season, delivered to you in your own neighborhood on a regular basis. It’s a great system for those who want to eat healthy, tasty food, cut down on trips to the market(if you can even find good organic produce regularly at your local market), and support local businesses /farms. And frankly, I’m tired of giving my money to the monopolistic WholeFoodsHenrysWildOatsEtc. conglomeration — where’s the free market competition, friends? Be Wise Ranch deliveries work extremely well for me. They arrive at a house a block from my home, so I can walk my dog down the street, pick up my fruits and veggies, and saunter home, excited to stock the fridge and figure out what to eat first. The size box that I get costs $ 25(delivered bi-weekly — $ 50.00/month), and there’s a bigger family-size box as well. It’s hard to go wrong, really.(Very minor issue: Be Wise has a somewhat graceless«ethos» in terms of their communications with their customers via web, mail, etc. They seem oddly defensive in most of their newsletters and notices. That, and the lack of current availability, causes me to give them 4 rather than 5 stars.) Unfortunately, Be Wise recently announced via its web site that it can’t take any new customers. Apparently they’ve reached their limit — selling everything they can grow. You can buy their produce at a number of local«natural foods» markets and at area Farmer’s Markets. I haven’t heard anything about the other CSA’s that do(or may) deliver in San Diego, but a quick Googling turned up the Seabreeze Organic Farm( ) and the Tierra Miguel Foundation( ). Seabreeze looks more expensive, but they have flowers(!) and more options than just«big» or «small» boxes, so they’re worth checking out.
