Worst customer service! Place has cockroaches and I found a hair in my food! I would give no stars if possible.

Best place in Escondido. Been coming here for years! This was the after party place since high school. Great place, amazing food, and customer services is great as well! Can get a bit pricey but oh well!

This is a pretty standard go to for me when i am in a hurry, or just have to have that breakfast burrito! They are pretty quick to get you in and out especially if you call in your order. The adoboda here is good as well as the carne asada /california burrito. Not a huge fan of the guac here… i prefer thicker guac to the more runny stuff, but never had anything bad here. The chips are always fresh dont burn your tongue on them though.

I honestly just has the worst experience here. I typically come here about twice a week. Everyone and everything has been good until tonight. The cashier Sandra was so rude and she overcharged my boyfriend and wouldn’t fix it. I was waiting in line for about 25 minutes, and the cashier kept answering the phone and taking phone orders even though she had a few orders to take with her line. Most restaurants typically have a «first in, first out, or first Come, first serve» idea so that the people who arrive first should be served first and that did not happen tonight. Their register broke down for about 5 – 10 minutes and Sandra didn’t let anyone know nor apologize for the wait, she had an attitude and you could tell she obviously hates working there. I understand things happen, but can you at least acknowledge that we’ve been waiting nearly half an hour. I was still okay until she overcharged my boyfriend and when I mentioned that every time he comes in he gets charged less, she snapped at me and said«well that’s what’s on here!» I said you didn’t have to be rude about It and she said nothing back. This sucks because I loved coming here! We bring so much business because of how often me and my friends come, but I’m not sure if we’ll be returning.

One thing that really pissed me off is that you can’t refill you drink. They have the machine facing the kitchen. If I wanted a refill I had to pay again. Never coming back

Really nothing more than just another run of the mill taco shop. Tried three things. Breakfast burrito with sausage, a chicken gordita taco and cheese enchiladas. I had them substitute the potatoes for beans on my breakfast burrito. The burrito itself was ok in taste however it had too many Jimmy Dean links in it to really taste the eggs and beans. A little on the greasy side. Fair to midland I suppose The chicken gordita taco was nowhere near what my standard is for this type of taco(La Gordita Taco Y Gordita Shop in Vista). Tortilla was a bit chewy and not crispy like i expected. Also, eating it from the top all one bites on is iceberg lettuce that is chopped not shredded. When I went for the chicken at the bottom the whole thing kind of fell apart. Chicken was bland city. Finally, the easiest thing to master but a consistent fail in mexican fast food places was the cheese enchiladas. First of all the enchiladas must be ordered in pairs. Why? Anyway, once again they were awash, no, flooded with yucky canned red sauce. They were topped with lettuce and a pinch of queso cotija. And as usual, they had the dreaded fake cheddar cheese in them that was nowhere near being melted. I couldn’t even melt it in the microwave at home. A real slop of a dish really. The hot sauce are limited to red, green and a red salsa. The red, while great in viscosity had a weird taste to it. The green was probably the best although nothing to hoard and sneak home if you know what i mean. Anyhow, this place was on my Esco mexi list of places to try. Glad I did. It’s not a total failure of a place, just not what I’m looking for anymore. Noteworthy, it was very clean and the lady taking my order was very nice. She has worked at this franchise for 5 years. Retention is a good thing. Cheers!

I’m very health conscious. I do whatever it takes to eat healthy and stay in great shape. I’m also a very positive person, I also do my best to stay stress free Before I became health conscious, I ate a lot of carne Asada fries. It’s not authentic Mexican food but it’s one of the most delicious fusion dish to ever come out of Southern California It’s super unhealthy too. I’m not lying but everytime I eat carne Asada fries, I start having chest pains and my heart starts beating irregularly. Definitely NOT a good sign However, I got treated to free carne Asada fries from this joint. I haven’t had carne Asada fries in such a long time. I accepted the offer because the carne Asada fries looked good Well, what’s the verdict? It’s SUPER delicious. The fries tasted awesome. It has the taste and texture of McDonald’s fries(which I love) and the toppings on it were all so tasty. And yes, I had chest pains and irregular heart beat a couple of hours after I finished the fries. It’s probably my last time I’ll eat legit carne Asada fries. I’m now gonna make my own, get some organic French fries and substitute carne Asada with tofu. Haha But yeah, if you want some awesome carne Asada fries, then definitely head to this joint

My favorite late night food place! The carne asada fries and the al pastor burritos are the best. Definitely a place to check out once the bars close! Their salsas are the prefect toppings. Jilberto’s never disappoints! Delicious food and quick service!

This place is one of my favorite Mexican places in San Diego. They have great food at good prices. The place is kept clean and they are efficient in getting your order(s) out fast. When you walk in, you can see pictures of their food and their menu on the wall and they take your order at the register. For a group of 4, an order of their rolled tacos and carne asada fries was enough to feed us after a night on the town. I’ve also shared their carne asada burrito and california burrito with my fiancé and those are also equally delicious. Their portions are large and filling and their food is prepared fresh to order. I’ve never had dry or bland meat here or soggy tortillas or fries, everything always tastes good. This is definitely my go-to place in North County for Mexican food at any time of day. I’ll definitely be back again for more.

Just had a killer carne asada fries plate. They must be using a new style of fries. Before the fries were on the skinny side, now they are using a thicker sturdier looking fries that can handle the weight of the toppings. They were made to order and the plate was piping hot when it hit the table. This has got to be one of thee best spots in Escondido for quick mexican taco shop style food. They have long hours so it’s not unusual to see this place crowded at 1:30am

Love this place. Pretty consistent with their food. Food is tasty, they use Mexican crema instead of sour cream. Yassss! It is the best Mexican taco shop in Escondido, in my opinion.

Came here as I was craving a California burrito and Jilbertos was one of the few Mexican shops that were still open after 10pm. Service was fast. Waited only 5 minutes to receive my food. ~$ 7.50 for a CA burrito I like their salsa bar, has picked carrots/jalapeños. Their salsas aren’t too spicy though. But what the heck. What’s a California burrito without the fries? Instead, I got chopped up small cubes of grilled potatoes. There weren’t any fries at all! Tricks aside, the taste wasn’t bad but not memorable

Best place to get carne asada fries and nachos. The interior of the restaurant is very clean. The staff is friendly and are quick to get your order out. The only issues I have with this place is the place can get a bit crowded and some people take their precious time getting salsa which is annoying. Also their prices have gone up big time in the last couple years.

What a waste of money! $ 27 for roll tacos and carne asada fries!!! *Long ass line *bland salsas *horchata tastes like water *Apparently can’t follow requests like well done carne asada AND there food was flavorless. The Jils in valley center has way more flavor… Can’t believe I’m saying that.

Had on good authority this was the best Mexican spot in Escondido. It definitely delivered, well mostly at least. For a typical«hole in the wall» it’s very clean and not dingy. Good amount of seating, nothing really to complain about. My California burrito(with fries, not potatoes) was pretty good, but unfortunately not the best. Carne asada itself was good, but the rest of the burrito was just okay. Really wish this was better.(3.5÷5) The beef rolled tacos though were amazing. A dozen for $ 9.99, loaded with guac and cheese and not too crispy, just right. Best I’ve had.(5⁄5) I’d honestly come back strictly for the rolled tacos. If only they had a Jilbertos in OC.

HANDSDOWNTHEBESTTACOSHOPINESCONDIDO. Best carne asada burrito, carne asada fries, and california burrtio. Everything is made to order. Jilberto’s Carne Asada is seasoned to perfection and always tender(never dry). Jilberto’s is always consistent. You cannot go wrong with anything you order.

The traditional hole in the wall burrito place. This is a great place to come for cheap food, and it never fails to provide a little excitement. Last time I was hear a lady walked in and accused a man of date rape, and punched him in the face. They took it outside and she apologized after he began to call the police. Apparently she mistook him for somebody else. I’ve enjoyed every burrito I’ve ordered here. They usually have bottled coke and jarritos. Don’t forget horchata if you like it!
